#148-"Give The Dog A Bone" Edition

Previous Thread:
>>994887

So I forgot all about the F&T Easter Santa Gift Exchangeâ„¢ but since it's spring and everybody is finally getting back out on the water again, I know we still have a couple fags that are down for another $25 secret gift exchange.

Just like Xmas, email Pepsi with what type of fishing you do and shipping info that I can pass on to whoever gets picked to shop for you. I think most people just ordered straight from their preferred website and had it shipped to the anons so it's easy and inexpensive and was a lot of fun.

If a self-inflating sleeping pad with open cell foam develops a leak does it still have any insulating ability?

Some, but not an appreciable amount.

Usually take a cheapish 35mm these days, keep it in a zip lock bag!

Should i spunk a bit of money at a sea to summit sleeping bag? Am looking at the spark iii or the micro mciii.

Going to Yosemite for the first time
the catch is its only for one day, arrive 8am, leave around sunset

what hikes should I do to get the most of it?
first hike will be as early as possible to avoid the rush, thinking nevada falls
thoughts?

when are you going?

regardless, if you only have 1 day i recommend only taking the mist trail to the top of vernal falls.
>>

2 weeks from now

I assume there are going to be some trail closures
>>
>>998546
all trails in yosemite are open 365 days a year. the bigger problem will be access to the trailhead. high country will be inaccessible for you because glacier point road and tioga road will still be closed, and big oak flat road connecting 120 to the valley will probably still be closed, so make sure you aren't coming in that way.

it's going to be busy, but you're going to beat summer vacation and the worst of the crowds. honestly if it's your first time i say go full tourist mode and enjoy the valley floor loop. i've been 30+ times in the last 5 years and i still enjoy doing that with first-timers. don't get cute and miss out on the best stuff.

the one under-the-radar thing i suggest is hike up to the base of el cap. it's only about 15 minutes from the road. pic related.

also, ignore any forecast that's more than 3 days in advance. seriously, no one has any idea what they're talking about with the sierra in spring.

finally, webcams and park alerts in one handy place:

Freight hopping isn't very common in Europe.
I've never heard of someone doing it.

Not paying for passenger trains is pretty common in some countries, especially for clandestine migrants.
But where is the fun in that.

What should I add to my cabin?

My girlfriend and I have a cabin out on her land, which has a few houses but it's still pretty secluded. It had been abandoned for 10-18 years when we took over it but we're fixing it up.

It's got one room, which has a few tables and a futon. It's also got a closet where we store a bunch of shit. We have an old metal footlocker outside that came with the place too. The walls are just mosquito netting and blinds that we fixed up.

It has no electricity or running water. A stream runs underneath it but it's not enough to power a generator. We do have a nice fire pit outside.

Pic related is it when we first found it before we cleaned it up.

You can build a 10x10 room fully insulated for about a $1000.

It would be hard but if you could get a decent fan base it would certainly be feesable. It would require a decent amount of gear to be able to provide a good quality stream though.

My friend referred me to 4chan because I needed some help. So, I am still getting antiquated to posting. Was wondering what is the best first aid kit that has a hard case, about the size of a book, and is less than $30? I prefer to purchase it from Amazon. So, if you can leave a link to Amazon it would be appreciated.

>first aid
>under $30

It is just some shitty band aids and a roll of gauze. If your injury can be "aided" with that shit then it should be called last aid.

Serch for a class in your area that teaches how to actually save a life and get a kit that can do more than just cover a paper cut.
>>
>>993702
Adventure Medical kits aren't bad, but you need to get your own hard case.

Don't take actual first aid advice from /out/, it'll turn into a bunch of fuckwits arguing about tourniquets and their super hardcore military training. Just bring a pack of bandaids, a handful of bandages and whatever personal medication you need, keep your pack light and don't stick your dick in the bee hive.

Without microscopic evidence, you cannot confirm it is bisporus. As a mycologist I can almost guarantee you they are not actually Agaricus bisporus. What are you using as a distinguishing feature to tell them apart?

>"I'm not /out/istic enough for this"
>"muh dignity"
>Tactical e tool can't save me now on the hard rocky ground
>Decide to wait till cover of night to make my move
>Ate tons of fiber and cheese the previous night to ensure cleanest shit possible
>With the canyon completely silent at night, only the wind, and passing jets can mask my movements
>Bright light is reflected by the canyon walls, so my dimmed phone screen will have to suffice
>nodepthperception.avi
>Grab single trek pole, and use soft handle end to feel my way through the dark silently/ward off any skinwalkers (didn't grab the knife I brought because of shit urgency)
>Finally find a good place to make my move
>Spend 5 minutes trying to find a good squatting angle on this diagonal cliff base
>Use crack in wall to hold myself whilst shitting
>Literal crack climb shitting
>"Couldn't do this in MGS"
>Admire perfectly dry shit, and well thought out meal plan
>Wipe my now sandy asshole with nearest rocks for good measure
>Navigate back to camp by lowest light setting on iPhone
>jumping at bats and spiderwebs at this point
>expecting instructor to find me out at any moment
>Stumble upon sleeping bag because I heard my buddy coughing
>ifuckingmadeit.mov
>Mfw
>Punch this out on my phone to cherish it always

Anyway, how was your weekend?

But mine lasted so long because it wasn't made in china.
