Fuck this shit, no wonder that we can't make fires or wild camp.

I'm going on a week long camping trip in June this year with 2 friends. We would like to do some canoeing. We've narrowed it down to either Killarney Or Algonquin in Ontario which does /out/ recommend of these two

Personally thought Algonquin was really nice

It depends. Are you looking to do any hunting or fishing? If yes, I'd recommend Killarney. If not, Algonquin.

No hunting but will probably do some fishing while canoeing

What is the general meaning of a seed floating or sinking? I'm following advice online and on the packets for Nasturtiums and moonflowers. I nicked some of the top layer off and am soaking them overnight. One packet of nasturtiums pretty much all sunk to the bottom while 2/3rds of the other packet are still floating and rise slowly when dropped into water. The moonflowers have some floating too, I assume these aren't good.

was thinking more along the line of 20k mAh.

I'm about to be homeless. Weather is cooling, area is coastal, rain should be frequent this time of year.

Interested in going north up the coast for an indefinite amount of time, probably on a bicycle. What type of food and gear should I carry or scavenge.

I live in the southern hemisphere so north = tropics for me. Bike is an old rusty road bike in decent condition, I am fitting new spokes and tires and will probably carry spare inner tubes.

You're in the damn kitchen right now aren't you anon

>>977851
You'll need whatever tools to work on your bike, obviously. Id say don't take too much stuff that you can't carry it on you also it would suck to have to get rid of the bike and a bunch of the shit you brought with you. Just look at the temps and take blankets/appropriate sleeping bag. You'll need some trash bags and 2 tarps. Line your pack with a trash bag in case you get caught in the rain. Also you can make a poncho for yourself out of one if you don't have any rain gear. Being wet with no hope of drying off can be absolutely fuckin miserable, especially when all your stuff is soaked too. I don't know where you live and I've never been out of the states so I don't know how viable dumpster diving/food pantries/bum feeds will be there but you can always get food if you just strike up conversation with people you meet along the way. Meeting people and socializing is pretty important, give yourself every opportunity you can. Take a bunch of spare underwear and socks. Stuff to camp comfortably will be your biggest concern, you need to be able to get good rest, keep the bugs off, and stay dry.

newfag lurker here. came to out for some comfy camping pics and i fell in love with what ive seen.
im planning a 5 day backpacking trip and need gear, i thought about buying what walmart has (ozark trail and coleman brands), not sure how these brands would hold up for innawoods, so id like some input from anons with experience on what to buy. i have about $300 cash to spend on all the gear i need, excluding food.

location im planning for are the smokey mountains, but im open to any suggestions somewhat close to So,indiana

Building your first kit on Amazon is way better. Read reviews, watch videos on YouTube of reviews, and make the decisions for yourself.

When I got Into backpacking I spent about 300 on a kit I've almost entirely upgraded.

I would do it again. The best way to learn what works for you is by going /out/. Even now I hone my kit after ever trip, and I'd say I'm moderate as far as experience goes.

Build your kit for what you want to do. If you want to distance hike each time, staying at a different location every night, I suggest looking to make your kit as light and minimal as possible.

For me I like to hike in on day 1, set up camp, and day hike the rest of the days, always coming back to the same camp. I don't mine huffing a 45lb pack 10 miles for the comforts you can bring with more weight. I also recommend a good hatchet and folding saw if you do this style. It's so comfy it almost feels like cheating. But God Damn do you feel connected with nature by staying put in the same spot.

Take lots of pictures to make your first adventure thread on /out/. Even though they never get decent replies, tons of people lurk in envy. (a while back when anon posted pictures from all over Patagonia, the thread maybe lasted a week?)

Hello /out/, I'd like to go on some Scandinavian trails this summer.
I have done some easy-medium trails in the past (more than 4 years ago) but I'd like to get active again. I live in Denmark, so anything in Norway and Sweden sounds interesting.
My dream goal would be Kungsleden, at least the northern part of it, somewhere in August-September. Is that too ambitious for a beginner?
I'd also like recommendations for how to train- currently I don't walk a lot, but I do bike around 15 kms/day, and I have picked up a more active job to get my body used to a higher activity level. Is walking enough, or should I also incorporate jogging/cardio/strength? (btw I'm 23/f)

tl;dr recommend Scandinavian trails and how to train for them. Tak

Kungsleden js pretty easy. You could do the part between Abisko and Nikkaluotka. 110km. 4-5 days if you take it easy.

They're about $20, but you can find them cheaper. Don't get ripped off.

I have used a Therm-a-rest Z-lite for about a year and have loved it so far. Though if yiu have the budget I would opt for a inflatable Therm-a-rest, the one I had was as comfortable as a shitty matress but it started leaking after a couple of years.

Hey /out/, just found these eggs walking around near water. What kind of bird laid these? They're about as big as a baseball. Thinking of setting up a motion camera. I thought they might be eagle eggs, but I don't know. I'm in MD btw.

No, South jersey is p good. Agree that anything north of the AC expressway is trash tho. I would think a small new england state like Rhode island would be worse
>>
Good fishing freshwater, amazing for salt.
Beaches are great, plenty of state parks and a few forest. Especially where the AT passes through.

And it's pretty close to the center of the world; NYC.

It probably is on the bottom on out-states but surely it's good enough when you put other things in factor.
