In a SHTF/post apocalypse situation, what valuable skills would you bring in addition to bushcraft?
Can you fix electronics? Do surgery? Grow food? Synthesize chemicals from nature? Smith weapons? Build houses?
>>997257
I just keep loads of pdfs covering any skills and situations I need. When I need a skill I'll learn it through trial an error. Thats how I learned to stitch myself up as a kid
I'm focused on emergency medicine, suturing and the likes. I've been an EMT and studied wilderness medicine. I also have some background in gunsmithing, welding and mechanical repair. It's good to have one strong focus and diversify from there.
I also like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.
>>997257
i went to trade school to weld, i can sew, self taught auto mechanic with engine building experience, can cook and hunt, and do a bunch of other lil shit all pretty decent. Maybe its just a superiority complex but i feel like i would be fine post apocalypse assuming niggers dont shoot me in my sleep first. I dont even have a hoard or BOB or any of that prepperfag shit. Just a handgun and a rifle, with a couple hundred rounds for each, enough food in my house for 2-3 weeks and i keep my gas tank topped off
lot of woods, but it's all owned i can't go on it. i have about an acre of woods though.

More-or-less like this... if you ignore the corn fields
fields and farms in all directions for miles and miles
Is there really not a single piece of land that isn't claimed by some country or person? Not even an uninhabited island in international waters? That's pretty depressing, if true. That would mean there really is no escape.
>>996890
Claimed yes, inhabited not so much.
Welcome to reality
How do you like being an adult now?
>>996896
It's always been fucking gay but it just always seems to get gayer. It just sucks so much to live in an era where the entire planet is under the control of one person or another.
I am thinking of turning this into an /out/ vehicle, but it feels wrong to chop this truck up? What do you think?
>>996440
It's a Bronco II; just keep in mind that it's out to kill you.
Whereas a Mustang is a mass killer, the Bronco II is a precise hunter that lures its prey inside and then flips over to crush them, feeding on the already ingested carcass.

Partly thinking of selling it for this reason alone.

Found a pond in the woods. What should I use to carve a path through the brush? Pics aren't even close to the worst of it. Some areas you can't even see 10 feet ahead of you because it's so thick.

I'd recommend a Swamp Rat Rodent Waki
So sc/out/s ITT we post recent OC to make other annons jealous.
Got on the 153 three times this week. The normal trails I ride are right around this old run down cabin. I've known about it for years but I had never checked it out befor Thursday. The trail was boring as fuck but the cabin was kinda neat.

How do I manage my period while /out/?
I am so afraid to hike anywhere close to my period starting because it would be nightmarish to have to carry around tampons along with all my other supplies, but I always fear randomly starting my period and being a weeks walk from civilization and bleeding everywhere. My new birth control causes me to have some pretty random periods at times, and in ways it has prevented me from going /out/ for longer than a few days recently.
I was thinking about getting a menstrual cup, but I have no idea how to clean it innawoods, and how difficult it is to use while squatting and digging holes to go to the bathroom in.
Guys, if your /out/ gf's use this let me know their experience with it innawoods.
This board is a male space. I am sure there are many youtube videos on this subject.

have you tried putting moss in your pants?
I'm thinking of becoming a hobo. Seems like a great lifestyle. Are there any downsides? Or is it as glamorous as they make it seem?
The downside is you're a hobo
>>981704
>Or is it as glamorous as they make it seem?
A friend of mine is an EMT. You should hear some of the horror stories he tells about hobos. I have a family member who is an RN. You should hear some of the horror stories she tells about hobos.
"Glamorous," is not the word I'd ever use with, "hobo".

Sup /out/stralians,
Everyone as excited for winter as me? Can finally go /out/ without dying from heat exhaustion/getting blown away from a cyclone.
Share any plans coming up.
I'm thinking of hitting Moggill State Forest and crossing a few features until I'm out of sight. Have the dog with me so hard to find any good camping spots that allows animals and isn't some bogan fest where you can't go 5 meters without seeing a Bundy rum sticker and 50 other side by side tents.

Victorian /out/ist reporting in
>Share any plans coming up.
1) After easter going to my holiday shack up near Mansfield with my gf.
2) In a few weeks, I'm heading into the high country of Victoria to go deer hunting with my brother.
3) And then hopefully going to organise a camp trip with a few mates.
So excited that the 40c days and snakes have fucked off now
>>979006
We've had about 2 weeks of constant rain. Its beating down again. Gonna get some storms this week from the cyclone up north. Been loving the rain, shit loads of mushrooms growing. Hopefully be sipping magic tea this weekend whilst planning a tick/snake/mosquito free get away.
>>979010
I really want to get into mushroom foraging. Not really interested in psychedelics.
Do you know any good resources for foraging in Australia?
We've had rain on and off for the last few days here in Melbourne. Tomorrow is going to be our last warm day before the temperature starts floating between 17 and 22
Is thatching wirth the trouble?
>>999628
With plenty of resource's sure. But a more reliable roofing in my opinion is half logging. Use wedge's (can be made of wood or metal is you prepared) and split a log right down the middle, check the grain of the log to insure it does not twist when splitting. Lay the logs on top of one another to form a long tile.
Thatch is useful for bedding and as insulation in walls that are either held in with sticks or clay depending on your climate.

WOW what knife did you baton that in two with?

Anyone know where I can get vintage-style mountaineering gear?
I want to get into mountaineering, but I'm also autistic as fuck and I prefer stuff like wool and leather to modern synthetics and stuff. Also because I absolutely cannot fucking stand the flashy colors and logos that virtually every sportswear company on the planet uses today. It just screams "LOOK AT ME I'M ATHLETIC."
You could probably go halfway up everest and just take the clothes off of the mummies and have a decent set of gear
>>999191
>It just screams "LOOK AT ME I'M ATHLETIC."
so you'd rather scream "LOOK AT ME I'M A PRETENTIOUS HIPSTER TRYHARD"?
>>999199
Not OP but wool and leather are so much nicer than some weird plastic shit
From the science march thread.
How do I get started?
Where do I get info?
How do I find cool rocks to sell to hippies?
>>999042
>Find pretty rock
>Examine effects on chakra
>???
>Well fuck, make up an effect then
>Sell in Sedona
>Profit
>take a geology 101 class
>start intense rock collection as rocks are cheap
>so many rocks
>pretty rocks
>ugly rocks
>get out of college, move, live, love, laugh
>forget about it
>find rock collection 10 years later
>wtf was I thinking
Hope it goes well for you op.
>>999042
I found this. At least try to google shit before bumping a slow board.
>>999112
fug. I'm heading that way.
So after enjoying neetdom for a couple years I got offered an /out/ related job. Some company contacted me today to see if I was interested in doing forest maintenance work, which I am.
It means leaving my parents house and move to a different part of the country but the company will provide housing, likely shared with many other workers.
I'm kinda hyped and I will drive there by myself but I don't know what to expect and what to bring with me.
I will probably take my bike and definitely /out/ gear since I will be free during the weekends so I will get to explore the place.
Anyway, what should I pack in regards of the job itself? Anyone has any experience doing this?
Thanks.

Only bring what you can fit in one bag. Nobody likes people that are slow to pack up their stuff and nobody likes people with too much stuff.
So you'll basically have only camping gear and a few sets of clothes.
It's a good job, but make sure you are strong enough for the job. Your muscles can catch up, but how good are your joints? You're a neet so, do you believe you have the mentality for this? Not doubting you at all bro.
>>998274
Just to clarify I'm not from the US and I live in a rather small country.
I don't really think I will be working and carry all my gear with me, clothes and that stuff may stay at the housing place, other stuff I can leave in my car.
I'm asking more about what type of gear is essential for that type of job. Leather boots? Helmet? Gloves? Multitool? That kind of stuff.
> Your muscles can catch up, but how good are your joints? You're a neet so, do you believe you have the mentality for this?
I'm a NEET but not /r9k/ tier or any of that shit, I played football all my youth, I also run a couple times a months. And I have done 200km+ hikes for the last two years. I'm not a big guy tho.

Thinking about getting into it. What kind of costume would you wear and what song would you paddle to? I'm leaning toward wearing a Continental Army soldiers uniform while Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper plays.

Kayaking today with a buddy. Maybe 5 or 6 miles of paddling the hiked around for 5 or 6 more after and rested my new pack. What have you guys been up to lately?

Fed horses on Monday. Went fishin on Saturday. Was supposed to go to the beach today but instead relaxing.
Good enough?
I go on a camping trip every week or every other week. almost always 2 day 1 night. If 4chan wasnt so anal about picture sizes i'd be dumping my pics every week for everyone to shit on (as is the 4chan way).
fuck 5mb file limits. im not taking shit quality pics to show bushcraft babies i know how to get out of my basement.
