The Latest: Italy's migrant crisis is spawning new protestsROME (AP) — The Latest on the migrant crisis in Europe (all times local):

10:40 p.m.

Italy's migrant crisis is spawning new protests, with a local mayor in Sicily leading a popular revolt to prevent a few dozen new arrivals from taking up residence in an abandoned hotel.

Vincenzo Lionetto, mayor of Castel'Umberto in Messina, wrote an "urgent and important" Facebook post advising residents that the local prefect had just informed him that the 30 or so migrants would be transferred to the Canguro hotel.

He led a dozen or so residents in surrounding the hotel with their cars Saturday, though the migrants apparently were already inside.

Tensions over migration are running high in Italy, with daily arrivals of new asylum-seekers and local officials complaining they don't have space to take them in. The issue is particularly sensitive with elections expected this year or next https://www.yahoo.com/news/latest-italys-migrant-crisis-spawning-protests-204009783.html FOR A SITE THATS AS ETHNICALLY 'diverse' as JAPAN, ahem, w respect, just keep up doing the dirty work of the Intrntnl (((Oktopus NWO))) ! no one ever seems to talk about the $$$$$ made by providing lodging and services to the refugees.

there is a HUGE financial incentive and it is in the interest of people in all of these countries to keep the flow of "customers" coming.

why does this story never make the news?

John Oliver has been sued by Mr. Robert Murray, the coal magnate who is determined to defend his "coal" reputation: "My reputation has to be beyond reproach and it is. And when someone lies or even colors their media reports, we will absolutely sue them."

In the June 18 episode, Oliver called up a satirical article in the United Mine Workers of America’s journal that described a squirrel hopping onto Murray’s porch and telling him, “You should be operating your very own mines” (the company said this was not, in fact, a true story).

Murray accuses Oliver of carrying out a “meticulously planned attempt to assassinate the character and reputation” of Murray and broadcasting false statements about his company.

Murray has asked for a temporary restraining order to stop comedian and political commentator John Oliver from talking about the lawsuit and to stop HBO from rebroadcasting the June 18 episode.

Also isn't being a coal magnate enough for anyone to go "that dude is an asshole?"

Not really.
Get it how you live.
I don't blame drug dealers for dealing drugs, I blame druggies for giving them their business. Likewise, I won't blame the guy for making premium mula from dealing in coal. Dude couldn't deal in coal, if no one wanted coal. If you don't like people using coal, then dedicate your life to making a better, cheaper, easier alternative.

Or take the Duterte approach.

Trump praises Xi soon after death of Chinese dissident
-Donald Trump says Xi Jinping is a "very good man" who loves China and "wants to do what's right for China."
-Hours earlier, a prominent advocate of democracy and human rights in China died under government supervision.

>While Liu was released on medical parole in June, he was still under government supervision. Chinese leadership also initially resisted pressure to allow foreign doctors to attend to Liu, though they eventually acquiesced. Those professionals said the activist was well enough to travel for treatment.

>Beijing must bear "heavy responsibility for his premature death" for not allowing Liu to be medically evacuated, Berit Reiss-Andersen, chair of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, said in a statement.

>"While the whole world watched, China chose instead to maintain the isolation of its prisoner," she said.

>Following Liu's death, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson released a statement praising the activist as someone who "embodied the human spirit that the Nobel Prize rewards."

>"Mr. Liu dedicated his life to the betterment of his country and humankind, and to the pursuit of justice and liberty," Tillerson said.

>Foreign policy hawk Sen. John McCain said Liu's death was an "egregious" and "barbaric" violation of the activist's human rights.

>"Unfortunately, and as Dr. Liu would have wanted everyone to remember today, this is only the latest example of Communist China's assault on human rights, democracy, and freedom," McCain said.

>Hours after Trump's press conference, the White House released a statement that said the president was "deeply saddened to learn of" Liu's death and offered his condolences.

(CNN)Congress should use money from its food stamp budget and Planned Parenthood funding to pay for a wall along the border between the United States and Mexico, Rep. Steve King said Wednesday.

>The House appropriations committee released its homeland security bill on Tuesday, which includes the full $1.6 billion requested by the Office of Management and Budget to begin construction on a southern border wall. The Iowa Republican, however, wants to more than triple taxpayer dollars spent on the wall.

>"Are you comfortable, congressman, with providing $1.6 billion of taxpayer money, not from Mexico, to build that wall?" CNN's Alisyn Camerota asked on "New Day."

>"Absolutely, yes and more," he replied. "And I'd throw another $5 billion on the pile and I would find half a billion of that from right out of Planned Parenthood's budget. And the rest of it could come out of food stamps and the entitlements that are being spread out for people who haven't worked in three generations."

>The lawmaker said the government needs to "ratchet back down" the number of Americans on food stamps. More than 40 million Americans receive food stamps, and nearly two-thirds of them are children, elderly or disabled. The average household on food stamps had income of less than $10,000 a year.

>"I wouldn't impose anything more strict on anybody in America than what (former first lady) Michelle Obama did with her school lunch program. So, I would just say let's limit to that," King said.

>"But we've seen this go from 19 million people now on the SNAP program up to 47 million people on the SNAP program," he added. "I'm sure that all of them didn't need it. So, we need to set this down and ratchet it back down again."

>A document circulated on Capitol Hill in May said that a White House budget proposal would slash $193 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) also known as food stamps. A CNN analysis found that of the top 10 places with the largest percentage of residents who use SNAP, seven voted for Trump in the 2016 elections.

>We built the programs because to solve the problem of malnutrition in America," said King, who backed Trump in 2016. "Now we have a problem of obesity. When you match up the EBT card with what the scales say on some of the folks, I think its worth looking at."

>"Michelle Obama looked at it. Republicans should be able to look at it too," he added.

>More than 2 billion adults and children globally are overweight or obese and suffer health problems because of their weight, according to the New England Journal of Medicine, with the United States having the greatest percentage (13%) of obese children and young adults.

>The "Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act" legislation spearheaded by the former first lady in response to America's childhood obesity problem was regularly criticized by Republicans and her efforts may be in jeopardy under the Trump administration. The School Nutrition Association, a lobbying group, released recommendations in March to scale back federal nutrition standards set under the Obama administration.

An Oregon woman has received three years' probation for licking and groping a fellow passenger on a flight last year, local media report.
Heidi McKinney, 27, smuggled alcohol on board the Alaska Airlines flight and touched a woman, 19, sitting next to her on the breast and genitals.
She pleaded guilty in March to assault with the intent to commit a felony.
She was sentenced to eight months of home detention plus the three years of probation, reports Oregon Live.
McKinney was arrested after the plane from Las Vegas landed at Portland International Airport on 8 May 2016.
In March, prosecutor Ravi Sinha told a Portland federal court the defendant had "made contact with victim's body, including her inner thigh, and made a series of profane and lewd statements to the victim".

>President Donald Trump's re-election campaign made a $50,000 payment in June to the Law Offices of Alan S. Futerfas, the lawyer now representing Donald Trump Jr. in ongoing investigations into Russia's interference in the 2016 election and the Trump campaign's possible role in it.

>The payment was made more than a week before revelations that Trump Jr. had met with Natalia Veselnitskaya, a Russian lawyer with strong ties to the Kremlin, during the campaign last year.

>Trump initially denied knowledge of the meeting between Trump Jr. and Veselnitskaya. It soon emerged, however, that Trump had signed off on Trump Jr.'s first statement in response to the New York Times' initial report about the meeting. The statement eventually had to be amended several times when new details about the meeting continued to spill out.

>The day after the first story detailing the meeting, it was reported that Trump Jr. had accepted the meeting to obtain damaging information about then-candidate Hillary Clinton. Later, according to emails Trump Jr. posted to Twitter and the Times published, it emerged that Trump Jr. was told ahead of time that the meeting was part of "Russia and its government's support of Mr. Trump."

>The payment to Futerfas, dated June 27, was disclosed in a filing with the Federal Election Commission on Saturday. It was described as covering "legal consulting" fees. Futerfas was announced as Trump Jr.'s lawyer on Monday after the Times first disclosed the meeting.

>Spokesmen for Trump's re-election campaign and Futerfas could not be immediately reached for comment.

>In the last two days, it has also been confirmed that there were several other people present at the June meeting whose names were not originally disclosed. Initially, Trump Jr. said that he, Veselnitskaya, brother-in-law Jared Kushner, former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, and British music publicist Rob Goldstone were at the meeting.

>Later in the week, however, it emerged that multiple others were present, including former Soviet military intelligence officer Rinat Akhmetshin and Russian translator Anatoli Samachornov. CNN also reported on Friday that a representative of Emin and Aras Agalarov, the Russian family who asked Goldstone to arrange the meeting, may have been there.

>Separately, the campaign also paid Jones Day, the law firm that represented Trump's campaign during the election.

>The campaign also paid $89,561 to The Trump Corporation for "legal consulting." The company, owned by the president, is not a law firm. The payment was dated June 30th.

>In the second quarter of 2017, Trump's re-election campaign raised about $8 million and spent $4.4 million.

>Trump filed for re-election the day after taking office — allowing his campaign to continue to raise and spend money while he is in office.

>The Federal Election Commission has previously ruled that candidates and federal office holders may spend campaign funds on legal fees that are part of legal actions that would not have been necessary if they were not a candidate.

>Trump has also hired outside counsel being led Marc Kasowitz. His campaign finance disclosure did not list any payments to Kasowitz.

>There are currently two congressional investigations and an FBI counterintelligence investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller examining Russia's election interference. Moscow has denied the charges against it, and Trump and his associates have denied colluding with Russia.
>>
This story is hilarious to me. Who the hell is advising the Turmps that would allow them to make this kind of unforced error? Trump Jr now can't even attempt to advance the argument that we was technically not an official member of the Trump campaign. Why would you just throw away this entire potential line of argument for a mere $50,000 to cover legal fees?

Do the Trumps just not listen to ANY legal council they have or what?

There's still a Trump campaign?

-It was a quiet Wednesday evening in Blue Springs, Missouri when the police radio crackled with word that a holdup alarm had been triggered at Cirilla’s, a local adult novelty emporium.

When the store manager spoke with a police dispatcher, he provided a physical description of the tattooed man who stole $90 in merchandise. The suspect, the manager reported, fled on foot around 10 PM and was “running north toward the grocery store with the two biggest dongs I sell.”

In a radio transmission, an officer described the suspect as a “white male, shaved head, tattoo on his neck” who “stole two dildos and a bottle of lotion.”

The perpetrator, the manager recalled, swiped a $47 11” All American Ultra Whoppers “curved dong” intended for use in a strap-on device. The thief also stole a 10” dildo ($30) and a four ounce bottle of Doc Johnson’s Joy Juice lubricant ($12).

With more than 60 stores, Cirilla’s (“Where Romance Finds Fantasy”) describes itself as “one of the nation’s largest and fastest growing specialty retail chains.” Founded in 1992, the firm offers “an impressive collection of lingerie, vibrators, adult toys and romance essentials.”

As heard in the above radio transmissions, the suspect was furthered described as wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and black/white/red sneakers. The manager also told police that the man had full tattoo sleeves on both arms.

The description prompted one cop to identify a possible suspect by name and suggest that a fellow officer sit by the man’s residence. “If he shows up, you’ll be looking for two dildos and a bottle of lotion,” the cop advised.

As of this morning, however, the suspect remains at large. As do the dildos.

At 1,345 meters above sea level, Ben Nevis is definitely not the World’s most difficult mountain to climb. But things get considerably trickier if instead of hiking shoes you put on a pair of 5-inch high heels, especially if you’re a guy. But one English teenager recently proved that it’s not impossible.

Ben Conway, a 19-year-old art student from London, recently took up the challenge of hiking up to the top of the highest mountain in the UK in high-heel shoes, as a way to stand out in an application for a scholarship for the School of Communication Arts in Brixton. Applicants were asked to “make something passionate about something that they are passionate about,” and since Ben loves drag culture and has been scouting for 13 years, he decided that marrying the two hobbies was a good idea.

“I needed to think of something difficult to do and I also love drag culture. I have also been scouting for 13 years and the challenge sort of married the two,” Conway told The Scotsman. “I picked Ben Nevis because it is the biggest. I thought if I’m going to go for it, I’m going to go for it properly. It was all a bit spontaneous.”

Conway started his unusual high heel climb at 8 am, on June 27, and was joined by Callum MacKenzie Allen, a friend from his art foundation year, who videotaped the whole thing for a two-minute video that served as his application project. The whole climb took five hours and wasn’t the smoothest experience.

Halfway up Ben Navis, one of his shoe straps broke, so he had to tape the shoes to his feet to make sure they stayed on. The weather didn’t make it easy for him either, as he claims that it rained pretty much the whole time, and he had to withstand 40 to 50 miles an hour winds.

Due to these difficult conditions, Ben and his buddy had to turn back after reaching 900 meters up the mountain. He wore hiking shoes on his way down.

“I’ve never climbed up a mountain before and it was also my first time in heels,” Conway said. “Most people have been super positive but some people have been down on it, saying I should have thought about health and safety. I’ve hurt myself more on nights-out in London than wearing high heels up the mountain because I had socks and bandages on.”

Apart from providing a unique art school application project, the high-heel climb also allowed the 19-year-old to raise some money for worthy causes, like the LGBT rights charity Stonewall, and Sal’s Shoes, which provides footwear for barefoot children around the world.

“Raising money for charity brings happiness to people’s lives and if I can do something ridiculous and bring someone happiness, then that’s what it’s all about,” Ben said.

>Antoine Deltour, a former PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) employee who leaked documents showing how the company helped multinational companies to evade tax in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, was given a 6-month suspended sentence and fined €1,500.

>Raphael Halet, another PwC employee who had helped Deltour, was fined €1,000. After the first trial last year, Deltour received a 12-month suspended sentence and a fine of €1,500. Halet was fined €1,000 and given a nine-month suspended sentence.

>Halet was convicted of violating professional confidentiality, while Deltour was cleared of the charge thanks to his whistleblower status.

>The court had recognised Deltour and Halet's whistleblower status but had noted that it did not protect them under national or European law. "This disappointing judgment constitutes an additional argument for going ahead with recent European initiatives towards whistleblowers’ protection," Antoine Deltour said in a statement published by the defendants' support committee after the verdict.

>The group, Support Antoine, said that the court's decision presented "a disturbing contradiction". "It recognizes the whistleblower’s role and the public interest of the revelations but anyhow concludes on a condemnation," it said in the statement.

>"Once again, private financial interests seem to take priority over the collective interest and the rights for information." Activists have used the LuxLeaks case to showcase the need for more transparency and anti-tax evasion measures. Whistleblower protection has been a main focus.

Dude it's way worse than that:

>NYC food inspectors were anonymously tipped on Chow’s operation which possibly involved recuperating dead dogs in dumpsters of the Animal Care Centers all over the city report officials.

>Sixteen other family members are also under investigation as they were currently volunteering in nine different Animal Care Centers in the New York City area and suburbs have confirmed authorities.

Literally yanking dog corpses out of the dumpster, and possibly even conspiring to have animals euthanized. On the other hand:

>Chow’s wife, Hu-Wen Zhao, believes the owner of the hot dog stand on the other side of the street has conspired against her husband to shut down his business.

>“He always jealous because my husband’s hot dogs taste better, people always come buy Chow Chow hot dogs,” explained his wife to reporters in tears.

Though I doubt they would arrest him without evidence, and the word of the guy across the street who has a financial imperative to drive the other guy out of business would not be sufficiently strong evidence to get a warrant for arrest. From the rest of the article:

>Killing dogs and cats for meat is still legal in 44 U.S. states but in the state of New York it is expressly prohibited for “any person to slaughter or butcher domesticated dogs or domesticated cats to create food, meat or meat products for human or animal consumption.”

>Xi Ping Chow immigrated to the United States in 1996 and has had a hot dog stand license in the Brooklyn area for the past 18 years. Some experts estimate he could have sold over a million of his hot dogs to date.

>The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART), which serves San Francisco and Oakland, Calif., is refusing to release surveillance videos of criminal incidents in its system for fear of spreading racial bias.

>After three recent incidents of robbery on the trains, the system will not release videos of the incidents to the media, CBS SF BayArea reports.

>Member of the BART Board of Directors Debora Allen said that she was told by management that the videos would not be released because they would spread racial bias among riders. But Allen stressed that riders are fearing for their safety.

>"I think people are genuinely concerned—they are fearful about the stories that have come out about the recent attacks, the assaults, the thefts," Allen said. "What is the priority of BART? Is the safety of the passenger—of all passengers—is that a lesser priority than the race bias issue?"

>BART management told Allen that "racial bias" caused by the videos would create insensitive rhetoric.

>President Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton before agreeing to meet with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer during the 2016 campaign, according to three advisers to the White House briefed on the meeting and two others with knowledge of it.

>The meeting was also attended by his campaign chairman at the time, Paul J. Manafort, and his son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Mr. Manafort and Mr. Kushner recently disclosed the meeting, though not its content, in confidential government documents described to The New York Times.

>The Times reported the existence of the meeting on Saturday. But in subsequent interviews, the advisers and others revealed the motivation behind it.

>The meeting — at Trump Tower on June 9, 2016, two weeks after Donald J. Trump clinched the Republican nomination — points to the central question in federal investigations of the Kremlin’s meddling in the presidential election: whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians. The accounts of the meeting represent the first public indication that at least some in the campaign were willing to accept Russian help.
...
>When he was first asked about the meeting on Saturday, Donald Trump Jr. said that it was primarily about adoptions and mentioned nothing about Mrs. Clinton.

>But on Sunday, presented with The Times’s findings, he offered a new account.

I believe Donald's updated account of the meeting, that she offered the info, they agreed to meet, and then she pulled a bait and switch and started talking about the Magnitsky act. I figure she found out that the Trump campaign had been meeting with Russian officials and getting help on the campaign so she pretended to be one of them so that she could get in and grind her personal axe. This does prove that they were meeting Russians with the intent of getting damaging material on Clinton. Manafort's presence there immediately dismisses any attempt to claim this meeting wasn't related to the campaign, as Trump initially claimed.

Taylor Muhl, a model and singer from California, often says that she is her own twin, and as strange as that sounds, she means it quite literally. The 33-year-old was diagnosed with genetic Chimerism, an extremely rare condition explained as “an organism composed of cells from different zygotes”.

As a child, Taylor was obsessed with twins, constantly asking her mother if she had a twin sibling, and playing twins with her girlfriends, but little did she know that she actually was her own twin. Doctors say that the model absorbed her fraternal twin while in the womb, and parts of its DNA now exist in her body, making her a Chimera, of which there are only 100 known cases in the whole world. But even as a human Chimera, Taylor’s case is a rare and fascinating one, because while most Chimeras only display the symptoms internally or have very small skin marks, Muhl’s stomach is split down the middle into two skin tones.

Taylor only learned that she might be suffering from Chimerism in 2009, after watching a TV documentary on the incredibly rare condition. Up to that point, she had thought that the darker side of her stomach was just a large birthmark, but that all changed when she saw a baby with a very similar symptom that had been diagnosed with Chimerism.

“I fell out of my chair,” Muhl said. “There was a baby who had the same line as I did,” Taylor told Daily Mail. A week later, she visited a throat doctor who had happened to work on Ripley’s Believe It or Not cases, and she mentioned her suspicion. Following a series of tests, she was officially diagnosed with Chimerism, which helped explain the many allergies and immune flare-ups she had experienced throughout her life.

“I have two different immune systems, and I have two different bloodstreams,” Muhl told The Doctors. “My body treats my sister’s DNA and cells as foreign matter and wants to get rid of them, but it can’t.”

Because of the two different immune systems, Taylor Muhl is allergic to certain metals on one side of her body, but not the other, and she is more affected by a bout of flu than a regular person, because both of her immune systems are weakened while constantly fighting each other’s cells.

The double set of DNA can cause abnormal results on medical tests, which is why it’s very important that people diagnosed with Chimerism report this every time she gets her blood tested.

“It’s important for Taylor throughout life to inform doctors that she has Chimerism, so when they get these strange test results back they know how to quickly interpret them correctly. This may save her life,” Dr. Brandon Colby said.

Muhl had kept her two-tone stomach a secret until now, covering it up as much as possible, and asking photographers to edit their work in Photoshop, but she recently decided to reveal her rare condition in order to inspire people to feel good about themselves, despite being different.

“I had always kept my stomach a secret, covering it up or having photographers Photoshop it out,” Taylor said. “But now I want to embrace the way I look. I want to inspire people to feel beautiful and confident with their difference.”

I'm pretty dumb but he seems to walk you through the whole thing. 23MB/s would require both an upload and download speed of 184mbps consistently while being sent to the other side of the world. To put that in perspective, if you wanted to buffer a 1GB movie, it'd take about 45 seconds at this speed.

Certain servers can hit that speed, but it's strange that these two groups would have such speeds, and especially that they'd be capable of transferring data to places like Romania and the Ukraine, through VPN's supposedly, with no major interruptions in that speed. They would have needed even faster internet speeds to make up for the drops.
