A WOMAN who weighs in a 38 stone has vowed to keep piling on the pounds in a bid to break the record for the world’s biggest hips.

Bobbi-Jo Westley already has hips measuring 95 inches and has set her sights on ballooning to over 99 inches to break the record of LA-based Mikel Ruffinelli – even though she knows it could KILL her.

The 42-year-old’s supersized hips have already earned her a following with legions of fans from around the globe buying and trading her pictures online.

Some fans even pay for “crushing” sessions where they get Bobbi-Jo to sit on them and squash them for kicks.

Bobbi, who lives in York, Pennsylvania with her husband, said: “My hips are what makes me unique. It’s what makes me ‘me’.

“When I realised that there where men out there who like my shape, I was kind of surprised.

“I get all kinds of presents and messages from my fans, some of them ask ‘will you marry me?’ which is kind of hard because I’m already married.”

Not all the attention 5ft 2in Bobbi-Jo gets online is quite so flattering – but she shrugs off the negative comments from online trolls.

She said: “When I get people on social media who say I am fat, I really don’t react to it. Because I am fat.”

But while her curvaceous figure is raking in the cash, it has had a terrible effect on her body, leaving her housebound under doctor’s orders.

She struggles to complete basic everyday activities – and she gets out of breath just walking across the room.

She said: “The last time I went to a doctor I weighed 542lbs.

“And having big hips is kind of difficult. When I go up or down stairs, or through doors, I have to turn sideways.”

Bobbi-Jo attributes her massive weight gain to an underactive thyroid, a condition she was diagnosed with six years ago.

However, she was recently paid a home visit by nutritionist Nadia Sharifi, the owner of MyTrimLine Weight Loss and Wellness Centers, who was not convinced by Bobbi-Jo’s explanation.

Nadia concluded Bobbi-Jo is a “ticking time bomb” and that she needs to start eating healthily or she could face an early death.

The nutritionist said: “It’s literally a life or death choice at this point.

“Hormones, or thyroid issues, or blood type or ancestry might play a little part, but ultimately it’s down to what we put into our mouth.

“When we’re talking about her veins, she can have a block very easily. She is really, truly a ticking time bomb.

“She is definitely in a place where it is very hard for the people to be – it’s not that she needs to lose 50 pounds, she needs to lose over 200 pounds.”

Despite the words of warning, Bobbi-Jo says that her heart is set on being the proud owner of the world’s biggest hips, and that she won’t consider losing weight until she has achieved her dream.

She said: “I understand that I’m putting myself at risk by trying to get the world’s biggest hips.

"I am worried about my health sometimes because of my size - I know that it is not healthy.

“My doctor asked me if I had ever considered gastric bypass and I do have a fear of dying.

“But it’s just something that I have to do and I take it one day at a time.

"I want to be remembered for something, and I think having the world’s biggest hips is what I was meant to be remembered for.”

Sharon Hill, who was dubbed "Britain's fattest woman" after ballooning to 48 stone, recently revealed her amazing 18 stone weight loss and vowed to lose more.

Today marks the final chance for Republicans to enact a new US health care law that would cut coverage and reduce taxes for the wealthy. To do so, party leaders need to win over key holdouts like Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski, and they are playing hardball.

Ryan Zinke, Secretary of the Interior, called Murkowski and her fellow Alaska senator Dan Sullivan yesterday to warn them that opposing the bill would mean punishment for Alaskans, according to Alaska Dispatch News. He promised to hold back development projects and efforts to exploit Alaska’s natural resources, including fossil fuel deposits, on the vast expanse of federal land in the far northwestern state.

Murkowski is one of a handful of Republicans who have voted against proposed health care overhauls because they cut Medicaid, the health insurance program for the poor that plays an important rule in back-stopping the health care system in rural Alaska. Now, Trump’s team wants her to choose between health care and jobs.

“I fear that the strong economic growth, pro-energy, pro-mining, pro-jobs, and personnel from Alaska who are part of those policies are going to stop,” Sullivan told the Alaska Dispatch News. “I tried to push back on behalf of all Alaskans… We’re facing some difficult times and there’s a lot of enthusiasm for the policies that Secretary Zinke and the president have been talking about with regard to our economy.”

Those policies include plans to build a road through a wildlife refuge, expand oil drilling in protected lands, and appoint Alaskans to federal government positions where they can be influential in pushing for more access to federal lands.

The irony is that Zinke and Trump have long called for action to exploit federal land that the Obama administration, which tended to prioritized environmental protection, denied. Now, Zinke is threatening that he will protect the environment if Murkowski doesn’t support a health care bill. The importance of oil to Alaska’s economy, especially as the petroleum market struggles with low prices, means Murkowski is likely paying attention.

Still, like many Trump team propositions, it’s hard not to see this as a bluff. Will one wayward health care vote have this White House lining up with the Sierra Club and the League of Conservation Voters when it comes to Alaska’s federal lands? Don’t count on it.

It definitely seems like it has no chance of becoming a reality, but maybe they don't think they're bluffing. Trump is so hyper-concerned with bombarding opposition that he might be dumb enough to sign off on an underhand blow like that. But the administration seems more concerned with stabbing cabinet members than whipping votes, and I doubt their ability to focus on something as arbitrary as this. And GOP leadership isn't going to be moronic enough to think that they can twist arms by threatening to harm a senator's constituents. When Trump and co. started sniping Heller, the leadership intervened.

Besides, Murkowski is a force of nature. Her name wasn't even on the ballot when she won her seat, enough people wrote her name in. On top of that, rural healthcare being more expensive means that the Obamacare subsidies are vital for Alaska. She's a popular senator doing what's right for her constituents, and the right's cries of bloody murder aren't going to change that.

The University of California Berkeley is back at the center of controversy in another battle over free speech, but this time there's a surprising twist of events.

A Berkeley radio station has canceled an August 9 speaking engagement with atheist author Richard Dawkins, according to Berkeleyside.

In recent months, the liberal university has generated widespread outrage for canceling speakers with conservative views, like Milo Yiannopoulos, Ann Coulter, and Ben Shapiro.

But this latest cancellation targets a well-known liberal.

Dawkins was going to speak about his new book, Science in the Soul: Selected Writings of a Passionate Atheist, in the engagement sponsored by KPFA.

Although Dawkins is outspoken against conservative values and Christianity, the radio station doesn't cite that as the reason for cancellation. Instead, KPFA sent a letter to those who bought tickets for the event saying it's because his views against Muslims could be taken as offensive.

"We had booked this event based entirely on his excellent new book on science, when we didn't know he had offended and hurt – in his tweets and other comments on Islam, so many people. KPFA does not endorse hurtful speech," it says.

The letter condemns what they call "abusive speech."

"While KPFA emphatically supports serious free speech, we do not support abusive speech. We apologize for not having had broader knowledge of Dawkins views much earlier. We also apologize to all those inconvenienced by this cancellattion."

In the past, Dawkins has criticized aspects of Islam on Twitter. In one tweet, he highlights the abusive treatment of some Muslim women. In another, he references suggestions about what Mohammed would be doing if he were alive today.

Dawkins ended up responding to the radio station in a letter of his own: "I used to love your station when I lived in Berkeley for two years, shortly after that beloved place had become the iconic home of free speech," he wrote. "…I have criticized the appalling misogyny and homophobia of Islam, I have criticized the murdering of apostates for no crime other than their disbelief. Far from attacking Muslims, I understand – as perhaps you do not – that Muslims themselves are the prime victims of the oppressive cruelties of Islamism, especially Muslim women."

In the letter, he points out what he sees as a double standard: "I am known as a frequent critic of Christianity and have never been de-platformed for that. Why do you give Islam a free pass? Why is it fine to criticize Christianity but not Islam?"

"You say I use 'abusive speech' about Islam. I would seriously – I mean it – like to hear what examples of my 'abusive speech' you had in mind. When you fail to discover any, I presume you will issue a public apology, which I will of course accept in a spirit of gratitude for what KPFA once was. And could become again," he added.

The war of words between Hungary's outspoken prime minister Viktor Orban and liberal billionaire George Soros escalated to previously unseen levels on Saturday, when the Hungarian PM said that European Union leaders and Soros are seeking a "new, mixed, Muslimized Europe," however during a visit to Romania, Orban said that Hungary's border fences, supported by other Central European countries, will block the EU-Soros effort to increase Muslim migration into Europe.

Slamming the Hungarian-born billionaire who has been accused by the Hungarian government of using his vast wealth to fund pro-mass migration organizations to create a “new, mixed, Muslimized Europe”, Orban said Brussels was in an “alliance against the people’s will” with the financier.

As long as I remain the prime minister, the fence will stay in place. We will protect Hungary and Europe. We can never be in solidarity with ideals, peoples and ethnic groups who set out with the goal to change European culture… because the end result is collapse.

Will Europe be inhabited by Europeans? Will Hungary be inhabited by Hungarians, Germany by Germans, France by the French, Italy by Italians? Who will live in Europe?

Each year brings a new record increase in the number of concealed handgun permits. The rate of growth in permits among women and minorities has far outpaced growth among white men. The data paint a picture of incredibly law-abiding permit holders, the vast majority living outside America’s insular media capitals.

A new report from the Crime Prevention Research Center shows that there are now more than 16.3 million concealed handgun permits in the U.S., up 1.83 million since last July. Far more people carry guns today than in 2007, when there were only 4.6 million permits. Thirteen states now no longer require a permit to carry in all or most of the state. Eight of those 13 states made the change in the last two years.

Did the antigun agendas of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton drive demand? Maybe not. The growth in permits has hardly slowed since the election.

Women are largely fueling the increase. Among the eight states that had data from 2012-16, permits for men grew by 22% and permits for women soared by 93%. In the 14 states with 2016 data on sex, women now make up 36% of permit holders.

Over those same years, the number of blacks with permits increased 30% faster than the number of whites with permits. Blacks now make up 11% of permit holders. A few states provide a breakdown for Asian-Americans, and in those states they accounted for the largest percentage increase in permits.

The numbers show how out of sync the media capitals—California, New York and the District of Columbia—are with the rest of the country. In those places, where public officials decide who get permits, only a few adults out of every thousand have permits, mostly in rural counties. In the rest of the U.S., 8% of adults have permits. People in most states don’t think twice about being surrounded by concealed carry in restaurants, theaters and stores.

New Yorkers must be terrified to visit Pennsylvania, where 13% of adults have permits. In Potter County, Pa., on the New York state line, more than half of adults have a permit.

In Los Angeles County, by contrast, as of January there were 226 permits for almost eight million adults. Only the political elite get them: judges, reserve deputy sheriffs and a small group of very wealthy, well-connected individuals. As of 2012, Hispanics made up almost half the county, but they only got about 6.5% of the permits. Women got about 7%, and blacks 5%.

Where officials decide who gets permits, explicit death threats often aren’t enough for a law-abiding person to get one. Living in high-crime neighborhoods is considered irrelevant.

My research has demonstrated that the two groups that benefit the most from carrying guns are the likeliest victims of crime (poor blacks in high-crime urban areas) and people who are physically weaker (women and the elderly). Dozens of published peer-reviewed studies find similar results.

If the media elites spent more time outside their protective bubbles, they might realize how misplaced their fears of permit holders are. According to a study in Police Quarterly, criminal convictions of police are rare compared with the general public. But permit holders are convicted at less than one-sixth the rate of police officers.

Police are the most important factor in stopping crime, but the police almost always arrive on the scene after an offense has occurred. In the past few years those who benefit the most from carrying concealed handguns have been getting them.

Correct me if I am wrong, but pretty sure registered gun owners are responsible for less than 1/10th of a percentile of homicides in our country. This is what irks me about people who are pushing gun control. It's like they are truly insane? It is like they do not understand that wishing for something doesn't make it so.

And the biggest fattest elephant in the room is that if you take out black on black crime, the United States has a murder rate the same as Switzerland. And obviously, none of those guns used are registered... and none of those men have conceal and carry permits.

The Trump family's Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, has submitted requests with the Department of Labor to hire 70 foreign workers.

>The club recently asked for permission to hire 15 housekeepers, 20 cooks and 35 waiters on H-2B visas, according to DOL filings made public Thursday during the White House's "Made in America"-themed week. The visas are granted when there are supposedly not enough American workers willing to do the jobs. The foreign employees would work October through May, during the club's regular season. Earlier this week, President Trump expanded the national cap on H-2B visas by 15,000 people.

>But those moves seem to clash somewhat with the White House's proclamation that this week is "Made in America" week, as the president promotes products made in the U.S. On Thursday, Mr. Trump announced three companies -- Merck, Pfizer and Corning -- have created a new partnership to manufacture glass packaging for medication in the U.S., saying it would generate 1,000 new jobs for Americans.

>"In part due to the deregulation, our economy is booming again, and Americans are going back to work in construction sites, mines, and factories across the country," deputy White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a briefing Thursday.

>"And those workers can rest easy knowing that they have a staunch defender in the White House, as the president shows time and again that he is putting America first in trade negotiations, pursuing reciprocal agreements with our trading partners so that everyone benefits. He's prioritized the enforcement of immigration laws to protect all Americans and ensure that our system treats everyone fairly."

>The president made jobs for Americans a central component of his campaign, and of his work in office. "We believe jobs must be offered to American workers first," Mr. Trump said in an April speech.

President Trump, searching for a reason to keep the United States in Afghanistan after 16 years of war, has latched on to a prospect that tantalized previous administrations: Afghanistan’s vast mineral wealth, which his advisers and Afghan officials have told him could be profitably extracted by Western companies.

Mr. Trump has discussed the country’s mineral deposits with President Ashraf Ghani, who promoted mining as an economic opportunity in one of their first conversations. Mr. Trump, who is deeply skeptical about sending more American troops to Afghanistan, has suggested that this could be one justification for the United States to stay engaged in the country.

To explore the possibilities, the White House is considering sending an envoy to Afghanistan to meet with mining officials. Last week, as the White House fell into an increasingly fractious debate over Afghanistan policy, three of Mr. Trump’s senior aides met with a chemical executive, Michael N. Silver, to discuss the potential for extracting rare-earth minerals. Mr. Silver’s firm, American Elements, specializes in these minerals, which are used in a range of high-tech products.

Stephen A. Feinberg, a billionaire financier who is informally advising Mr. Trump on Afghanistan, is also looking into ways to exploit the country’s minerals, according to a person who has briefed him. Mr. Feinberg owns a large military contracting firm, DynCorp International, which could play a role in guarding mines — a major concern, given that some of Afghanistan’s richest deposits are in areas controlled by the Taliban. In 2010, American officials estimated that Afghanistan had untapped mineral deposits worth nearly $1 trillion, an estimate that was widely disputed at the time and has certainly fallen since, given the eroding price of commodities. But the $1 trillion figure is circulating again inside the White House, according to officials, who said it had caught the attention of..

Mr. Trump.

The lure of Afghanistan as a war-torn Klondike is well established: In 2006, the George W. Bush administration conducted aerial surveys of the country to map its mineral resources. Under President Barack Obama, the Pentagon set up a task force to try to build a mining industry in Afghanistan — a challenge that was stymied by rampant corruption, as well as security problems and the lack of roads, bridges or railroads.

None of these hurdles has been removed in the last eight years, according to former officials, and some have worsened. They warn that the Trump administration is fooling itself if it believes that extracting minerals is a panacea for Afghanistan’s myriad ills.

“It would be dangerous to use the potential for resource exploitation as a selling point for military engagement,” said Laurel Miller, a senior analyst at RAND who served until last month as the State Department’s special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan. “The barriers to entry are really quite considerable, and that kind of argument could fuel suspicion about America’s real intentions in Afghanistan.”

But for Mr. Trump, as a businessman, it is arguably the only appealing thing about Afghanistan. Officials said he viewed mining as a “win-win” that could boost that country’s economy, generate jobs for Americans and give the United States a valuable new beachhead in the market for rare-earth minerals, which has been all but monopolized by China.

China already has a $3 billion contract to develop a copper mine about 25 miles southeast of the Afghan capital, Kabul. Officials said Mr. Trump was determined not to spend American lives and treasure in Afghanistan only to watch China lock up its rare-earth deposits, which are used to make products from wind turbines to computer chips.

Mr. Silver, the chemical executive, may head an effort to maximize the rights for American companies to extract these minerals, according to a senior official.
>>
Mr. Trump’s interest also reflects how his military advisers have struggled to present him with other persuasive reasons to send troops to the country, where the United States has been at war since 2001.

Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, left, and the national security adviser, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, have led a review of Afghanistan policy.
Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, left, and the national security adviser, Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, have led a review of Afghanistan policy. Doug Mills/The New York Times
The White House’s review of Afghanistan policy — led by Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and the national security adviser, Lt. Gen. H. R. McMaster — was supposed to be finished by the middle of July. Instead, it bogged down after Mr. Trump expressed displeasure with a proposal from General McMaster for a modest troop increase and a multiyear commitment to the country.

Policy meetings have become increasingly heated, officials said, as Mr. Trump and his chief strategist, Stephen K. Bannon, have squared off against General McMaster. Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson is also said to be unhappy with the current proposals.

Vice President Mike Pence, not General McMaster, will lead a meeting Wednesday of National Security Council principals on Afghanistan. Some officials said that reflected General McMaster’s isolation; others said that the general welcomed Mr. Pence’s involvement and that the two were closely aligned on the policy.

But Mr. Trump, it is clear, is not. In June, he grudgingly agreed to give Mr. Mattis the authority to send additional troops — a number believed to be about 4,000 — as a stopgap measure to stabilize security in Afghanistan. But Mr. Mattis has not yet used his authority, perhaps reflecting his recognition that the commander-in-chief is uncomfortable with it.

When reporters last week asked Mr. Trump at a meeting at the Pentagon whether he planned to send more troops, he answered, “We’ll see,” and added,
>>
We’ll see,” and added, “ISIS is falling fast,” suggesting he viewed the counterterrorism threat in Afghanistan as declining.

Worried that Mr. Trump will be locked into policies that did not work for the last two presidents, Mr. Bannon and the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, have brought in outside voices, including Mr. Feinberg and Erik D. Prince, a founder of the private security firm Blackwater International. Both have urged using more private contractors and giving the C.I.A. an oversight role in the conflict.

In addition, Mr. Feinberg has reached out to people involved in the Obama administration’s effort to build Afghanistan’s mining industry. Some warned him that the prospects for a profitable business are worse now than in 2009, given the decline in commodities prices and the deteriorating security in areas where the deposits are believed to lie.

Afghanistan’s deposits of copper and iron ore are trading at about a third of their 2010 prices. Most of the undiscovered deposits of rare-earth minerals are believed to be in Helmand Province, large parts of which are controlled by the Taliban.

“There are undoubtedly minerals to be exploited in Afghanistan, which could help provide economic stability to the country in the future,” said Daniel F. Feldman, a former special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan. “But given all the obstacles, it could be many years before mining yields dividends for the Afghan people.”One advantage is that the Trump administration would have a willing partner in the Afghan government. During the Obama administration, President Ghani resisted the rapid development of the mining industry, largely because he worried about the threat of widespread corruption that would come with it.

But as soon as Mr. Trump was elected, Mr. Ghani reversed his position, contacting the Trump team and promoting Afghanistan’s mineral wealth. He realized that Mr. Trump would be intrigued by the commercial possibilities

U.S. Lawmakers Seek to Criminally Outlaw Support for Boycott Campaign Against Israel

THE CRIMINALIZATION OF political speech and activism against Israel has become one of the gravest threats to free speech in the west. In France, activists have been arrested and prosecuted for wearing t-shirts advocating a boycott of Israel. The U.K. has enacted a series of measures designed to outlaw such activism. In the U.S., governors compete with one another over who can implement the most extreme regulations to bar businesses from participating in any boycotts aimed even at Israeli settlements, which the world regards as illegal. On U.S. campuses, punishment of pro-Palestinian students for expressing criticisms of Israel is so commonplace that the Center for Constitutional Rights refers to it as “the Palestine Exception” to free speech.

But now, a group of 43 Senators – 29 Republicans and 14 Democrats – want to implement a law that would make it a felony for Americans to support the international boycott against Israel, which was launched in protest of that country’s decades-old occupation of Palestine. The two primary sponsors of the bill are Democrat Ben Cardin of Maryland and Republican Rob Portman of Ohio. Perhaps the most shocking aspect is the punishment: anyone guilty of violating its prohibitions will face a minimum civil penalty of $250,000, and a maximum criminal penalty of $1 million and 20 years in prison.

Hopefully they'll outlaw communism as well.

The proposed measure, called the Israel Anti-Boycott Act (S. 720), was introduced by Cardin on March 23. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reports that the bill “was drafted with the assistance of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee [AIPAC].” Indeed, AIPAC, in its 2017 Lobbying Agenda, identified passage of this bill as one of its top lobbying priorities for the year:

The bill’s co-sponsors include the senior Democrat in Washington, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, his New York colleague Kirsten Gillibrand, and several of the Senate’s more liberal members, such as Ron Wyden of Oregon, Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut and Maria Cantwell of Washington. Illustrating the bipartisanship that AIPAC typically summons, it also includes several of the most right-wing Senators such as Ted Cruz of Texas, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, and Marco Rubio of Florida.

A similar measure was introduced in the House on the same date by two Republicans and one Democrat. It already has amassed 234 co-sponsors: 63 Democrats and 174 Republicans. As in the Senate, AIPAC has assembled an impressive ideological diversity among supporters, predictably including many of the most right-wing House members – Jason Chaffetz, Liz Cheney, Peter King – along with the second-ranking Democrat in the House, Steny Hoyer.

Among the co-sponsors of the bill are several of the politicians who have become political celebrities by positioning themselves as media leaders of the anti-Trump #Resistance, including three California House members who have become heroes to Democrats and staples of the cable news circuit: Ted Lieu, Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell. These politicians, who have built a wide public following by posturing as opponents of authoritarianism, are sponsoring one of the most oppressive and authoritarian bills that has pended before Congress in quite some time.

LAST NIGHT, the ACLU posted a letter it sent to all members of the Senate urging them to oppose this bill. Warning that “proponents of the bill are seeking additional co-sponsors,” the civil liberties group explained that “it would punish individuals for no reason other than their political beliefs.” The letter detailed what makes this bill so particularly threatening to basic civic freedoms:

It is no small thing for the ACLU to insert itself into this controversy. One of the most traumatic events in the organization’s history was when it lost large numbers of donors and supporters in the late 1970s after they defended the free speech rights of neo-Nazis to march through Skokie, Illinois, a town with a large community of Holocaust survivors.

Even the bravest of organizations often steadfastly avoid any controversies relating to Israel. Yet here, while appropriately pointing out that the ACLU “takes no position for or against the effort to boycott Israel or any foreign country,” they categorically denounce this AIPAC-sponsored proposal for what it is: a bill that “seeks only to punish the exercise of constitutional rights.”

The ACLU has similarly opposed bipartisan efforts at the state level to punish businesses who participate in the boycott, pointing out that “boycotts to achieve political goals are a form of expression that the Supreme Court has ruled are protected by the First Amendment’s protections of freedom of speech, assembly, and petition,” and that such bills “place unconstitutional conditions on the exercise of constitutional rights.” The bill now co-sponsored in the Congress by more than half of the House and close to half of the Senate is far more extreme than those.

A viral photo of an ancient volcano victim immortalized with his hands in a compromising position has called attention to a rarely considered but still-important question: Can people masturbate during a volcanic eruption?
Earth’s explosive volcanoes are notorious for unleashing 1,500-degree avalanches of scorching gas and rocks that flood down the flanks of a volcano, demolishing everything in their path. During these violent events, called pyroclastic flows, people don’t masturbate because they can’t. Instead, they promptly asphyxiate, cook to death, and die, as did the Pompeiian man who some think may have been indulging himself during the historic Mount Vesuvius eruption in 79 A.D.
“There is no way to demonstrate any ‘masturbating man,’ and it is out of place to discuss such an affirmation (I hope a joke, however bad) of some young time waster,” University of Naples Federico II volcanologist Pier Paolo Petrone, Ph.D., who has studied Mt. Vesuvius for decades, said in an interview with The Daily Dot on Monday. “The individual in the photo is an adult man, killed by the hot pyroclastic surge (hot gas and ash cloud which killed most of the population living around Mount Vesuvius), with both arms and legs flexed due to the heat.”

Some volcanoes, like Hawaii’s gentle lava-gushers, don’t erupt violently. But those that do, like Italy’s infamous Mount Vesuvius, contain a thick, viscous magma that holds in hundreds to thousands of years’ worth of bubbling heat and pressure. Before the grand event, the volcano trembles, sending earthquakes through the region some five to seven days in advance. Then comes the surreal pressure release, wherein a colossal column of ash, gas, and rock is blasted high into the atmosphere. The heavier elements of this ash cloud collapse into a pyroclastic flow, which in 79 A.D.

buried a number of cities in the usually tranquil Bay of Naples, most famously Pompeii.

These days, nearly 2,000 years later, archaeologists commonly find hollow spaces in the layers of volcanic ash and rock that buried Pompeii. When plaster is poured into these spaces and the ash around it is chiseled away, human and animal forms in their last throes of life are revealed. Their cooked bodies decayed, leaving hollow molds of people cowering in hallways, praying, gripping each other, and, in the case of dogs, trying to break free from their chains.
But no one is masturbating.

While it’s abundantly clear that a pyroclastic avalanche entombed the denizens of Pompeii, the precise cause of their prompt death is debatable, although the options are few. Vesuvius’s heated gases could have swept through the city’s doors and windows, causing people to suffocate before another flow of super-heated rock and ash engulfed their bodies.

Another theory, published in the journal PLOS ONE in 2010, proposes that the blazing hot ash and gas swiftly killed them with flashes of temperatures exceeding 500 degrees Fahrenheit — which was enough to melt the Pompeian’s silverware. Such an event would have sizzled their skin and cooked their organs, which is why most of the figures are found in withering, contorted postures.

In either case — asphyxiation or being heated in a temporary volcanic oven — there is little chance that any man would have the ability to masturbate while being destroyed by Vesuvius’s fiery wrath.

How is this an important question? The answer is yes if they are not swallowing hot ash or in the blast radius.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte came under fire on Wednesday for threatening to bomb schools run by an indigenous group for allegedly teaching subversion and communism to young Filipinos.

The New York-based Human Rights Watch demanded that Duterte take back his threat, which it warned was against international humanitarian law.
“By calling for an attack on schools, Duterte is directing the military to commit war crimes.
“Duterte should publicly retract his threat of violence against tribal schools before the military acts on them,’’ the organisation said in a statement.
Duterte alleged on Monday that schools run by the indigenous Lumad tribe were being used by communist rebels to recruit new members and were operating without permits from the Department of Education.

“They are teaching subversion, communism.
“Get of there now, you Lumads. I will bomb your schools. I will use the armed forces, the Philippine air force.

“I will really bomb, because you are operating illegally and you are teaching the children to rebel against government,’’ he said in a press conference after his state of the nation address in Congress.
Karapatan, a Philippines-based human rights group, lamented that Duterte’s statements could worsen alleged abuses by the military against the Lumads and other indigenous groups.
“Bullying Lumad kids and communities is one thing his State forces get away with it every time but bombing their schools and communities is a war crime.
“In fact, it is one of the gravest violations under international humanitarian law,’’ Karapatan said.

He is killing the Muslims AND the Commies?
I didn't think it was possible to love this man any more than I already do.

Yes because when a dictator says he's suppressing freedom of speech to prevent the spread of dangerous ideas, he always means dangerous to the citizens. Certainly not his regime.

But I love his regime. I want him to stay in power and keep killing subhumans forever.
