That was the lesson. They did technically win something, so they didn't walk away from the talent show empty-handed. And it's not like they gave up after not getting their cutie marks—they each tried something different (good), saw it wasn't for them (good), and decided to pursue a new avenue for their goal, even if it was yet another misguided attempt (good).

Nowhere does it insinuate that they're fine with being losers. Their main goal was to get their cutie marks, not win for Best Musical Performance, and when the marks didn't appear they were inspired to keep trying.

A bunch of screens, the executive couldn't come up with anything else but cut & paste rectangles to show off the main character's memories. Maybe add a little wimsical border around there? Maybe put the memories in a pool of water or a magic globe? something less photoshopped?

The "song" is poorly sang wannabe emotional trash with meaningless blah-blah lyrics to fill in.

The previous episode scenes amount to nothing, it's funny how they use more clips from S1, but nowhere in the show is it pointed out properly that Twilight is training to become a successor to Celestia.

It's not dignified for a benevolent spirit to wave her hands like a retard in the air as she sings. Only autists and pseudo-intellectuals gestionate because they're impulsive morons.

It's especially hilarious how Twilight, one of the most ambitious and self-righteous intellectuals in the show suddenly falls the same way all 3 villains in this show fall - She turns into a neutered whiny crybaby who can't even give a proper insult anymore, once she gets her wings.

It's mind-bogglingly stupid how this happens 5x times in a row. First with Luna, Twilight, Discord, Glimmer, Shimmer.

That's actually a really neat combination of the two spells, actually. One spell encodes the person or object to be transported temporarily into the paper, the enchanted dragonfire sends it on it's way, and the object/people revert to normal form when the Method is either dispelled or ends normally.

A lot of weird shit changed through the production of the show. Just like Pinkie being a pegasus and Fluttershy an earth pony.
Or Nightmare Moon being a recurring villain and Princess Luna being the "Redeemed villain" character which Discord, Sunset Shimmer, Starlight Glimmer kept retardedly pushing.

I love how the executives said NO to a lot of things Lauren wanted since season 1, but as soon as she left they suddenly said YES to every idea. Because apparently allowing good ideas with good execution is too problematic for their ego. They have to do it themselves and ruin everything.
