This is a question definitely worth answering. I do many different things:

Draw: Since the show isn't producing any content, I feel that it would be nice to produce some pony content of my own to help keep up the fanbase's interest in the show. In personal uses, drawing ponies is a really good de-stressor, allows me to have my first creative outlet, and allows me to be able to draw up funny and silly situations in my head and apply them to the ponies.

Watch old episodes: I only like to watch old episodes that have made some kind of good impact on me, but those episodes I will rewatch all the time because they display what I love so much about the ponies. Episodes like Games Ponies Play I've only watched once, but episodes like that episode where Twilight returned to Canterlot to befriend Moon Dancer are episodes I can watch 100 times. It's all about the cute episodes, and the episodes that make an impact. Also, I do actually carry some morals from the show with me in actual life, and they really do help, in my opinion.

Talk to others: Being able to joke around in a huge, active discord chat is another thing that keeps it interesting. Talking about cons we're going to, pony ass, etc... is the easiest way to have a fun time burning 10 hours a night. It keeps you enthusiasm in the show up and you get some nice friendships along the way.

Music: I have a pretty big pony music playlist of both canon songs as well as fanmade songs. If you can find some really good quality pony artists, the songs you can listen to for years. I personally recommend 4EverFreeBrony, his acoustic work is absolutely incredible.

EQD: Regardless of the stigma against EQD we have here on /mlp/, it's nice to catch up on news of what's going on in the community, news for the show, different pony merch, things like that.

Most of what I do is just things that keep my enthusiasm for ponies high. I feel bad for all the doompaullers on /mlp/, bc I think this show is worth the hiatus.

This hiatus, I'd planned on using the comics to pass it, but wasn't enjoying them much so swapped to the chapter books. Finished a good chunk of them, so I guess the comics will get used for next hiatus. Also, I recommend using the time to hone the craft of drawing and writing ponies. Learn flash. Make something to help others pass the hiatus.

The Princess Collection ones were the best, and each was pleasantly different in tone. I didn't really enjoy Fluttershy's or Pinkie's, though they weren't terrible either. The Lyra and Bonbon book and the Starlight one were mid-tier, with Trixie's a little above them. Haven't read the rest of the early ones yet. Also read two of the Perdita Finn EQG ones, but I don't recommend them. They're obviously aiming even younger than Berrows.
