What are some minimalist books/authors?

Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta. She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita. Did she have a precursor? She did, indeed she did. In point of fact, there might have been no Lolita at all had I not loved, one summer, an initial girl-child. In a princedom by the sea. Oh when? About as many years before Lolita was born as my age was that summer. You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style. Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, exhibit number one is what the seraphs, the misinformed, simple, noble-winged seraphs, envied. Look at this tangle of thorns.

But Demian is the easiest Hesse book to get, OP.
>>

Can you help me out please? I read Siddhartha and was able to "get" it but I am struggling with Demian.
>>
>>9243563

Have you ever heard those New Age sophists who claim that all you need to do to get what you want is to imagine the world you want to be in and believe with total conviction that you are in that world? The logic is that if you believe you are in the world of your desires, you will be metaphysically transported to that world.

This novel is an exploration of that idea. That belief and the mind can have physical results in the world. In other words, reality reflects the state of the mind rather than the contents of your mind being a product of reality.

Is it good?

Yes, all books are if you are a thinking person.

Just watch Bicycle Thieves and then abort and find something better to do with your time.

But Anon, Umberto D. and Rome, Open City is much better than Bicycle Thieves.

Is Lacan a worthless fraud who just uses deliberately over-complicated language to hide an incoherent and meaningless argument? Even Chomsky has called him a 'posturing and self-conscious charlatan'.

Also, same question for Zizek, Deleuze, Derrida, Foucalt, etc.

What compelling argument do you have to refute the notion that modern science has made all philosophy redundant?

Besides short stories, it's taken me about 2 months of intermittent reading to finish White Jacket. This book is a real pain in the ass. His voice is there, but whatever magic made Moby Dick my favorite book isn't.
>>
i read pierre and war poetry
>>
Just picked up Tydee. I've read Moby Dick twice and loved it, so I decided to try this.

It was written in his youth and so far I get a real Stevenson vibe. There's no Shakespearean prose or philosophical undertones , but it's a solid adventure novel and fun to read.

It is necesarry to study the old cyrilic characters previous to the 1918 reform for reading old russian books (Dostoievski, Pushkin, Gogol)?
Pic kind of related

Absolutely. You can't say you really know Russian until you have translated Dostoyevsky into Old Church Slavonic.

No. Only orthography has changed, the language is the same.

Goethe drops some weak-ass forced rhymes in the first part though. Every American phony faux-intellectual reads a shitty, distorted translation and thinks it's this is the most transcendental woke shit of all time.

What should I read now?

Absalom, Absalom for the most brilliant thing Faulkner ever did. It's basically schizophrenic rambling to someone unfamiliar with his style.

Bro, take a couple minutes and breath. Enjoy and reflect for a moment before diving into another. Y'know... let dinner sit before dessert. Maybe go for a walk for have a smoke or something.
>>
>>9242749
Of course I'm not gonna start reading another thing right now in this moment after reading the adventures of a retard that is always reminiscing (not talking about Benji)

What books(or whatever) should I read so I can read and analyse stuff better(Philosophy)? I want books that help you improve your mostly important tool that thinking is because you could go through everything while still barely understand anything/ missing the point completely.

Lacan/Hegel.
>>

I meant to be able to understand philosophy properly in the first. I'm pretty sure starting with them (or any other philosopher for that matter) would be extremely pointless
>>
>>9242808
I was just memeing. I don't really understand what it is you're looking for. Philosophy is pretty self-referential and you'll have to start somewhere. Maybe take an intro to philosophy class. There are plenty on YouTube.
