Hi fellow scholars,
I'm beginning a self education in Poetry.
So far I have pic related, all of Shakespeares works, Vol 1 of Seamus Heaney's work, and the whole bloody internet.
I plan to read at least a poem or two a day. But I feel this is not enough. I want to learn poetry, to read it, understand it, and write it. I plan to spend at least an hour a day on this.
Any advice on who to read, and how to go about this?
OP Here,
Just found the wiki.
I'll go through all the poets on there under the different movements as well.
I'm still very much open to any ideas and suggestions you all have though.
Are you reading originals? Is English your first language?
>>9521041
yes, and yes.
Two of the following propositions taken together MUST negate the third:
1) Autism is not normal
2) Fidget spinners are autistic
3) Fidget spinners are normal
If 1) & 2), then ~3)
If 2) & 3), then ~1)
If 1) & 3), then ~2)
PROVE ME WRONG!!!!
Insane
>>9520861
Propositions 2 and 3 are false. Fidget spinners are normie tier but autists love it
>>9520861
>If 1) & 3), then ~2)
this is wrong. having hair is also normal and is not precluded by the abnormality of autistism. if fidget spinners are normal, and autism is not normal, abnormals can still have normal traits/possessions
the rest stand, but you'd need a statement about normal for all of them to stand
Should I read it or is it just a meme? So god damn long

If you can't tell tolstoy is a great writer from the first few chapters you won't enjoy it
>>9520780
Fuck off nigger, can you even read?
>mfw video games prevent me from continue reading Ulysses.
How do you guys do it? I keep getting drawn back to my computer to the point where I only read on Saturday while I smoke my cigar.
read it aloud. it's much more fun that way. also: don't vidya. that simple.

It's weird I'm the opposite. I haven't played a game since witcher 3 (before that gta5) and I just got persona. About 50 hours in I just can't play anymore. I feel like when I'm not reading in my free time I'm wasting my life. How do I escape this hell?!?!
>>9520535
I managed to rid myself of videogames over a year ago. Try to retreat from gamer culture, for a start.
how does it FEEL living as a determinist, calvinist, eternalist, etc.?
Is it any different from regular life? Does it effect how you treat people, see people?
>>9520378
you have to be a virgin with no friends to start so....
>>9520378
No one actually does. If they claim they do, they're just LARPing.
I'm a Calvinist. It doesn't really affect my life because I don't think about it a lot. I just remember it when I need to cope with suffering and unfortunate circumstances. I don't really know if there's much else to say on the subject. I'll answer more specific questions if you have any.
>I delineated the effect of Principal's affect, the texture of his flatness, how he'd left a better impression on the chair, how the chair had left a better impression on the carpet, and concluded like the session had concluded with an account and analysis of the one thing that'd converted his format, from .autism to .rage
Why doesn't /lit/ like this book?
>>9520347
Holy shit I never should have meme'd about witz. I'm sorry /lit. There appears to be another one of me. This always happens. JOSEPH MCELROY JOSEPH MCELROY JOSEPH MCELROY JOSEPH MCELROY.

Are left-wing professors of today basically a reincarnation of ancient Sophists?
They tout pessimistic moral relativism for a hefty fee and dislike anyone challenging their "wisdom."
If so, when will we get our modern Plato to BTFO them?
>they dislike anyone challenging their wisdom.
Maybe go to a better school with professors that aren't shit-tier retards.
>When will we get our modern Plato to BTFO them?
Why don't you do it yourself, then. No reason to wait around with your pinky in your anus.
the student-professor dialectic is not in the argumentative form
the reason why they are able to assume that position is because of the institutional hierarchy and the best way to present the disjunction between that they believe in and what they have to teach is from an established point of view, though not one from sophistry
when sophistry returns as a method of argument then maybe they will be "btfo"

just as soon as you kill yourself.
just trust me on this, but we need your cooperation.
I bought this book. Did I make a mistake /lit/? Am I going to enjoy it ir regret it? Is it all the New Yorker and other posh parlor magazines make it up to be? Or is it just Yale shilling for another tongue-in-cheek, "liberated" female writer?
>>9520015
>Or is it just Yale shilling for another tongue-in-cheek, "liberated" female writer?
>succubus author
You answered your own question, you fucking faggot. Once again, OP is a cocksuckign faggot
>>9520035
Okay, so I plan on reading it, but how is she a succubus? I want to ready myself before if I am delving into asinine liquor romps with oversexed college athletes and business majors. Is it at least fappable?
>We don’t have a word for the opposite of loneliness
Pretty sure it's got a lot of antonyms depending on the sense.

Post your poetry and critique others.
I'll try to get to everyone myself.
I'll start:
Some bees are not fit for the job
And lap the honey that drips in retort
They live in holes under cool arches
And keek swarms.
They have striped yellow teeth
And wear black coats.
They’ve stung
And they’re dying
They’ll buzz around every now and
Then they cry some and speak to the
Lady bugs don’t like them a whole lot because
They aren’t the best bees
>>9519981
I'm writing this one just for you /lit/
>Watching you
>Is like observing
>Socrates
>Take a good morning shit
>After
>Wild hook up sex
>The night before.
>Flush.

>"drips in retort"
>r9k tier theme
Stop.
>>9519981
>speak to the lady bugs don't like them a whole lot.
why? It doesn't flow.
What's this poem about? It seems to be about being a faggot gamma male. Many writers were faggot gamma males, but you don't write about being a faggot gamma male without inviting derision. People admire the admirable and despise that which is not.
Sorry bro, don't mean to be harsh.
Isolated katabatic crypo cinder eaters,
pull their ears and set their teeth in tongue-out , jute twine jeers
passers-by give them oily smiles but not a dime for beers,
which is all they were begging for anyway.
fast food wraps, and rappers drawls hang out in muddy streets,
meats bring beats, beats bring heat and heat brings heady loss
meats, meats, blacken'd charred meats,
can't be chewed out,
else white chicken balk and crow foul.
birds on the powerline sit serene,
in the swampy hell of urbana
nirvana plays in the background of an old couple that stayed young,
the wife with a black eye, the husband with two
and a gun in his throat,
forever 'literally who?'
What a beautiful future we are meant to live,
to leave our prarie fatherlands,
our ancestral lakes, our streams,
our towns of porch-lit dreams,
with father taught crafts and mother taught tunes
and games of the older children.
what a world we are meant to love.
That beautiful urbana,
shameless, anonymous nirvana
Is this the peak of YA lit?
I will never be able to sympathize with young, attractive female characters, especially when they bring their problems onto themselves.
No, this is
Could Hannah Baker be more of a shitty character?
>Waaah Im a beautiful teenage girl who guys find attractive and I get bullied so I'll kill myself and ruin other people's lives.
>Waaah im going to yell at the only guy that cares about me and then act pissed off because he didn't come back after I told him off.
>Waaah I got raped after I knowingly and willingly went to the house party of a guy I know for a fact is a rapist and then I KNOWINGLY AND WILLINGLY AGAIN took off my clothes and got in the hut tub with all the other douchebags that have bullied me in the past
This bitch ruined several people's lives, is going to bankrupt the school, caused another suicide and is probably also going to cause a mass shooting.... but hey, at least she had her petty revenge.
Sorry if it sounds dumb, but many authors
(Bukowski and Stephen King) wrote very good
books when they were drunk,it may be a posibillity
Talent and discipline is key to good anything.

No drugs of any kind make life worse. I used to be addicted to weed and magic mushrooms. After school I would eat some.shrooms.and a weed brownie and play games or listen to music and walk around. It was fucking hell. The world was so beautiful and the music was so good yet I felt so alone. This lasted for 4 years until I went to university and became addicted to cocaine and alcohol and sex. I had so much cooked out sex. It was hell. I dropped out and started my own Web Development company. I make shit loads of money. I quit drugs because I take steroids and I don't wanna die early. Life is finally getting better. Don't do drugs.
>>9519824
>Don´t do drugs
>I take steroid

People literally can't read

idiots and cucksreally
Is the relationship that Romeo and Juliet have actually love?
Was Shakespeare trying to hold them up as true love or as true idiots?
Both. They had a genuine love for each other but they were too hasty and unthinking in actions.
>>9519532
>genuine love
"Hey, your hot!"
"Wow, you too, hottie!"
"Let's get married so we can FUCK"
