The odachi seems to have both emerged and enjoyed its by far greatest popularity in the Nanbokucho period, 1336-1392. After that its use has most likely been rather limited. Most remaining odachi blades were cut down to katana in the Momoyama period (1573–1615).

So I know that near where I live there is an oil rig in dock. From what I can see there is only one way up to it from the dockside.
Should SHTF would it be reasonable to think that this would make a good base? It has the high vantage points to spot people coming and only one means of access however enough space to store lots of food or equipment.
How would /k/ go about turning it into a SHTF fortress, also general SHTF base ideas and plans.
Pic related, almost identical to the oil rig near me.

So /k/, I've been thinking.
The current crossbow I own has the potential to launch a bolt at 360 FPS. As we know, this can go in and out the broadside of a deer at 100 yards, and still bury itself in a tree to its fletchings.
How would one go about calculating the energy loss going through, say, a torso (for autistic SHTF purposes) and how many this one bolt would go through before it wouldn't over penetrate anymore?

If he doesn't immediately fuck off to the rear lines and instead makes a fight of it, then take your pick. In urban or in open environments he's still hosed because he runs out into the open expecting his plot armor to send all the bullets into the dirt around him and he still gets blasted.
In an urban environment he fails to check his corners properly and gets nailed for being too aggressive of a shithead.
In an open environment he gets picked off for standing up.
In both cases, he probably will get wacked leaping behind concealment that he thinks is cover and will protect him from bullets.
And I doubt any shooting he does will be very effective.
But I am more interested in what will happen after the battle, provided he survives. Which I think he may, given you also haven't given him a uniform and as such he is clearly a civilian and probably dressed very strangely at that.
I would be interested in what would happen if you gave the USSR, the nips, goimany or the proto-NATO alliance a civilian with a solidly average understanding of what is for him history up into the late 2010s. And how they would leverage that knowledge to try to alter things.
/k/ I'm trying to get into guns and i'm trying to put away a percentage of my income each month to put towards my hobby i'm trying to get an order of th emost useful firearms for my purposes to buy them in once I have enough money in my firearms fund for each I guess. Currently I just have my cheapo winchester 12 gauge pump my dad bought me for christmas when I was like 16 (20 now). Here's what i'm thinking and i'd like to hear /k/'s input. Live in AZ

So, /k/alifornians, I am going to be passing your state to on my way from Washington down to Texas. What are the laws pertaining to bringing non CA compliant firearms through California? Is it a no go? Can I under certain conditions?
