Hey /k/ britbong here, I've never so much as fired a weapon before but I'm thinking of applying for the police and firearms tests/training are mandatory for the local police force where I live
Any tips or advice for a first time shooter? service weapon is a glock 17 (not sure which gen probably 3 or 4)
>>33816205
This may sound like im fucking with you but im not. M guessing you dont have access to a handgun. Can you buy a water pistol? Practice dry fire, sight alignment and grip. Use tip of trigger finger only. Get muscle memory with grip, stance ect. Expect recoil when you get to fire the real thing but dont practice recoil. Squeeze trigger and keep sights on target. Hope this helps.
>>33816303
Yeah handguns are basically impossible to get over here. Pretty much limited to ex-police officers and people who have verifiable threats to their life.
Don't point at anything you don't want to shoot
Finger off the trigger when not shooting
Treat them as if they are loaded
Know your target and what's behind it
This may sound paranoid for new shooters but it's the very basic safety rules that prevents accidents and to show others you know what you are doing.
Fuck these god damn faggots I hope everyone cancels their orders like I did. Such a mismanaged shitshow
>>33815931
>delayed two years
If anyone is still in line for this junk they deserve the shitty weapon they receive
>>33815931
I work in product development. You would not believe what a shitshow it can be the develop a new product with third-party suppliers. If everything goes right, you take note because it probably isn't going to happen again this decade.
>>33815989
It's been going for too long. I wonder how much desert shit actually makes themselves looks like everything is outsourced. Why make promises or accept preorders. None of this makes any fucking sense to me
How legal are flamethrowers in your state?
In my state it is illegal not to have one. I'm just barely squeeking by right now with a can of hair spray and a lighter.
>>33815310
legal in NJ
>>33815310
Throwing a propane tank and a muzzle spray device and calling it a flamethrower is nothing short of stupid.
Watch Ian videos on the flamethrowers with the guy who wrote the book on them he explains in detail.

So what does/k think about Springfields new XDE?
>Thoughts

Personally it just seems to me like they put an exposed hammer on a XDS. I own an XDS and don't see a reason to buy the XDE. I mean why should I?
Made by an anti 2a company. So its garbage

I own an XDS but don't keep up with Springfield news. How are they anti 2a? Literally not trolling right now

So recently I bought a Finnish M39 Mosin and I was looking at the markings on the tang. I can't distinguish what these are. Could some expert help me?

Are silver bullets good for killing anything I'd come across?
So let's say shit hit the fan and you only had a .38 special revolver and some 9x19mm parabellum. Could you somehow jerry-rig the revolver or the ammunition to work with shit you have lying around your house/ home depot?

Unless you're a machinist, you probably could not. The cases will not headspace or extract correctly due to the lack of a rim. You would need to have a completely new cylinder (and possibly ejector) made and fitted if you wanted to do something like what you're describing.

Way to go potato
Usual lurker here. Just found this out
>At my great-grandmother's funeral
>Talking with my dad and a few of my great uncles
>My great-grandfather comes up.
>Learn that he was a paratrooper
>He fought in both Korea and 'Nam
>Gramps was fucking 60 and still a paratrooper.
Anyway
>Dad tells me that when grandpa left the service,he had an M1 and an M2 Carbine with him.
>Tells me he stashed them somewhere
>Dad says they're locked away "someplace safe" and that we'd have to go get them, but they're ours.
>But dad also told me to find out if it was worth going and getting.
>I immediately thought /k/ would know.
So /k/ommandos should we hassle a 12 hour car ride to go get them or should we let them sit for now?
Pic is just an M1.
>>33814246
Do it you faggot
Yes dummy go get them
They have sentimental value and are worth a lot of money, the question is why wouldn't you go?
Go take a roadtrip.
I see images like this posted around repeatedly. It piqued my curiosity. There have been several evolutions in powders in the past two centuries, many smokeless powders, strings of cordite, just to name a few. Does anyone have a link to a good timeline or comparison of what exactly goes inside bullets?

From what I can tell they're all basically nitrocellulose with a stabiliser and some additives.
Is William E Fairbairn the most /k/ guy ever?
>the progenitor of modern close combat and SWAT tactics used worldwide
>devised his own martial art system
>fought in thousands of encounters in the Shanghai underworld and killed several hundred men with pistols, knives and bare hands
>covered in scars from these fights
>trained British and American special forces
>the training is the basis to this day for special forces close combat techniques
>>33814040
He's overrated as fuck. He came up with some cool shit but by-and-large it boiled down to fighting dirty like the criminals he was fighting and using weapons like theirs, you could say the same of the guy who started the pikal craze and sold backwards knives to rubes who have trouble mastering the secret art of holding a knife backwards. Come to think of it, the Russian NR40 came about in pretty much the same way, they literally just copied what criminals were using. What's more, nobody ever remembers the dumb shit Fairbairn advocated like hanging your knife off your shoulder like Chris Redfield.
All that said, being a giant meme might actually make him the most /k/ guy ever. Westaboos will get their dicks hard over the F-S for the rest of time.
>>33814251
>it boiled down to fighting dirty like the criminals he was fighting and using weapons like theirs
And he won every single time. So what does that tell you?
>>33814734
That he was fighting people who were more concerned with escaping the cops and avoiding prison than taking his life.
