Anyone else read/watch Dragon Ball to not only get inspired by based Toriyama but to be inspired by the work ethic of the characters?

Whats the artistic equivalent of training at 100x Earth's gravity?

I love drawing. I want to get better at drawing. But since I started living with my bf I've become paranoid to do so. All he cares about is money for even the smallest of things, and every time I'm drawing anything his first question is "is that a commission?" I don't feel I can practice anything in his presence, which leaves me scared to do anything for half the day.

I think it is mainly because he is incredibly harsh. He does not criticize anatomy, or flow or colors or anything, rather the subject matter. Pic related was a piece I was trying to experiment with 3 months ago(critique me on it so far if you'd like, sorry it's a mess), and he called me a 'necrophiliac' while calling it a dumb idea.

He has also taunted artist careers directly simply for being low paying, or makes fun of artists in general for being soft and emotional. I can swear that I enjoy criticism and I wouldn't get worked up about it if he wasn't just such a jerk. There's been times he says he supports me and wants me to draw certain things, but only AFTER we've talked about it and I've gotten upset.

So basically, how do I get over this /ic/? Have you faced similar experiences with feeling too paranoid to draw or practice around other people because you're afraid your ideas are shit or that you're just not good enough at drawing?

Your boyfriend sounds like an asshole. Get out of that relationship. I can tell you from experience that you'll be doing yourself a favor with that.

I'm in the same situation as well and the solution that has worked for me was to go into a different environment like the library to study. Your boyfriend might be suspicious of you though.

okay, so let me explain some shit I've learned in the last week doing animations.

You can animate every part of the body independenly in a new layer, some parts will simply be copy pasted under a slight new position every frame.
There's four extremes in every movement: The initial frame, the first extreme, the follow up (inertia) of the extreme, the going back to the first frame, the other side extreme and it's inertia frame, and then other first frame.
At least this works for idle and circular animations.

Focus on line of movement, generally it makes an S type of snake movement.
Have some frame background reference so the animation doesn't shrink.

You can animate per layers, focusing on each layer on a diferent part of the animation.
You can mix diferent styles in the same animation, traditional 1 frame animation for the most important part, 2 frames so things that move but aren't as important and simple tweens for things that doesn't change shape or are slow.

Also, make a new layer with the arcs of the movement, this is extremelly vital as to not get shaky movements and control the spacing.

Spacing and timing are vital.
The ball bouncing is the most important exercise, since a good ball bouncing uses already all the foundamentals, seems easy but is not.

Nice

Make an infograph plox it will be stickied in the animation generals
>>
>>2933077
I thought the line of movement should never be S.
>>
>>2933141
I'm talking about stuff like hair, most of of the time you have a curve movement, with the inertia, it will make a S in a few frames.

Bit of a strange request, but would anyone have references for backgrounds that are neither boring nor visually cluttered? I'm talking more about simple designs that don't detract attention away from the subject itself.

I know pic related isn't the best example - i dont have many pics on hand as of now, but it has a general sense of what i'm looking for.

Might post more if i ever find any so 1/?

Just from looking at pic related, how would you describe it? What do you like and dislike about it? How would you alter it, and make it your own?

I think it's really good looking, very smooth and soft.

I want to be able to at least draw similarly to him.

I just can't wrap my head around his process.

Can you guys help me understand Melkor's method?

I got my paper and pencils ready, it'd be cool if we could post our own work (that we try understanding his style with) together here.

>Just from looking at pic related, how would you describe it?
Generic and not skillful enough to study or learn from. If you want intricate hatching on porn, look at someone like Serpieri instead.

>What do you like and dislike about it?
The hands and forearms are okay. I don't find the drawing overall very good though, and her butt and boobs are horrible balloons and very unappealing. Her face just looks like a stock head of a generic animu girl that he pasted on.

>Can you guys help me understand Melkor's method?
There's literally nothing to understand. He just does some light lines placing things, then on new layers does cleaner linework and at the end hatches.
>>
>>2929805
Ah, okay. If there wasn't anything to learn from him, I'm glad you pointed it out. You say to look at Serpieri?

Never heard of them, I'll them up now. Thanks for your recommendation, I really want to get into drawing like this on the daily.

There's a trend with artists that they either wear ugly, comfortable clothing or extremely fashionable clothing.

What do you wear?

pajama pants and a tanktop
or
a really large tshirt that i use like a nightie.

When i go out in public it's just jeans and a shirt.

As you can tell i'm highly fashionable.
>>
sometimes I wear a button up with a nice sweater
sometimes I look homeless
sometimes I look like a skinhead punk
>>
>>2927098
yup, i p much dress exactly the same subbing in huge basketball shorts occasionally

the added benefit of dressing in a way that makes it apparent how much money i don't have also means nobody really bugs me out in public tho it's gotten to the point where fast food workers are giving me free food/checking on me to make sure i'm okay while i eat but that may also be like depression seeping through on my face or something

What's the best way to have fun drawing together with people online? Does ic have a flockdraw or something similar?
