How do we define what a 'Master' is in our post-modernist world of art?
>>2926864
Objective criteria don't change. The status quo is yet to be renewed.
>>2926867
It's not objective at all you knob. Plenty of artists were considered masters in their time and later were brushed aside and knocked down a few notches, and some artists were derided in their time and later considered masters.
The term gets thrown around a lot these days and I feel has lost some of its meaning. In my opinion it should be held reserved for only the most highly skilled/talented/original artists of all time.
>>2926874
>it should be held reserved for only the most highly skilled/talented/original artists of all time
So basically you saying you can't be a master while still alive or what? Like some kind of saint status? That's fucked up, mang.
I always make drawings for people I find pretty but don't need their friendship nor relations nor anything.
I just put everything I can feel into the drawing and let it go.
is this a really shitty way of starting projects?

I am trying to look into the lithograph techniques of Edgar Degas but I can't find more than vague sentences. Does anyone here have any sources of information on his process?
bump, is this the right board for this question? I usually only really go on /mu/
>Degas
I have no idea but have an appreciation bump.

I have a palette list as well if you like.
Would making tutorial vids on Youtube actually be a viable investment of your time if you were a top-tier skilled artist? I know most people giving tuts are fairly mediocre, so someone like Rapoza or Craig Mullins doing part-time tuts on fundamentals to advanced stuff has me wondering - what kind of interest would that generate?
No
Fundamentals are the same for almost everyone
It would be pointless to teach your supersekrit filter settings and so because: a) it won't matter if the watcher doesn't have the fundamentals, b) who does even want copycats anyways
>>2924289
you already made a thread of this FUCK OFF

Thumbnail reads well, so even though you won't get much praise here because /ic/ can only into figurative, I will say that you did a good job in depicting a motion. It really looks like figures and fishes in motion.
>>2926994
Yeah I like it too. Reminds me of primitive drawings on cave walls. Has that same aesthetic and movement to it.
How do you guys feel about the relationship between a person's work and their hobbies?
I've had a thought recently.
After searching through tens and tens of "do what you love" and "you work for a living" posts across the internet, I've come to the conclusion that a person's work should at least be tangentially related to what they do outside of work.
It is my belief that a person's work should give some sort of value to the things they do outside of their work-life, while at the same time maintaining a separation between "work" and "play".
I've found that the minute you try to make a job out of the thing (or things) you love, it ends up taking over your life and you end up losing the love that you had for your... thing. Or things.
I could just be a faggot, though. Thoughts?
>>2926606
I don't think hobbies and work should necessarily be related, but in the case of art often it is strengthened by bringing in outside interests. Pretty much every good artists has interests outside of art and reflects it in their work in some (possibly subtle) way. Good art is infused with your experiences and interests.

>It is my belief that a person's work should give some sort of value to the things they do outside of their work-life, while at the same time maintaining a separation between "work" and "play".
I completely agree. I think there has to be a line between work and play. I also think that your job is likely to shape the type of person you are, and its probably that inherent character that leads you to that field and subsequently those hobbies. Like someone who does alot of manual labor may enjoy something tactile, like building model aircraft, or someone who is an accountant may enjoy gardening because of its organized nature and ability to allot certain things to certain locations. Of course this different for everyone.
>>2926644
I may be projecting a bit.
I'm currently working a job that isn't all that interesting to me. I go, collect a paycheck, and come home. You could argue that the value of my job is in the financial stability it provides me, but it doesn't feed the soul. So, when I go to work, I begin to feel like it's a waste of time between my hobby and I, and when I go home to work on my hobby, I try my best not to think about my work.
Are there any artists here that do contours drawings?
>>2926488
Don't know why I like these
>>2926491
Or just minimalistic drawings like this. Anyways asking bc I'd like to pay an artist to create something for me
>>2926498
What kind of pen/pencil is used to create this kind of effect?
For some reason, I cannot get HB or 2H to look this way... t_t
Scan and use filter
>>2925982
I could be wrong but it looks like pencils that have been photocopied then given a brown tint digitally
>>2925982
If you have a scan of one of your pencils drawings I will attempt to recreate a similar effect in Photoshop if you want.
is it worth it?
This is the Galaxy Tab A 10 inch model with S Pen, it has a res of 1920 x 1200. You guys think i should get for the sole purpose for drawing?
They have another model for about half the price but it has a 720 x 1024 screen. The screen is really low res but its wayy cheaper where i live. And how good does it compare to the ipad pro?
>>2925425
no, the photoshop UI alone will eat up estate
>>2925425
If you can find it at a good price, go for it
Is a very good option to make sketches ... but if you want to do something more complex, the limitations of software and hardware will be very evident
Anyway if you are looking for comfort and mobility this tablet is a very good option, is light and almost not heated.
Also, being able to zoom and rotate the canvas with your fingers is great
Personally, I have an old galaxy note 10.1, and I use it daily.
>>2925425
I use a cintiq 13hd and have been looking into a mobile alternative. What >>2925427 said is probably correct. Here's something Reiq did on an ipad pro with adobe photoshop sketch.
how much money can you make of making one single porn animation base then simply switching the haircut to make diferent porn parodies?
I was inspired by super ppppu and I know I can make something much better.
