Is Cintiq 24HD outdated? Would I be just better off with a newer version?
>>2927822
had a 24hd the corners youre drawing 1 inch away from where your cursor is, pure cancer. dony buy.
>>2927822
Bitch you can basically buy any wacom product and they're not outdated, they're not gonna make you a better artist.
I'm still on an Intous 4 it's like 7 years old and I work in the industry.
>>2927827
Right now I work with Bamboo Fun that I bought 8 years ago so I'm not arguing against that as it works perfectly within it's limits.
I'm asking has there been a major improvement like with after 21UX.
I'm looking to have a friend or myself paint/decorate a pick guard for a guitar for me but I'm not sure quite how to go about it. Pickguards have a weird plastic-like coating that I imagine would make it a pain to draw on. I know practically nothing about art, how would you guys recommend I go about this? Thanks
>>2929390
Read the sticky, read loomis blah blah blah, yeah, this place sucks ass welcome to /ic/
>>2929390
sand the pick guard, paint/draw what you want on it. after you are done, varnish it using the finish you want. glossy/matte/etc
well it was okay
>>2929295
No it wasn't.
>>2929300
yea it wasnt
>>2929295
That's nice. Now do it x10 more times today and add double that of drawing from life and call it a day. Repeat tomorrow and for the next 10 years.
Are there any figure drawing websites where I can upload my own specific pictures to practice? Quickposes won't let me upload my own or any pornographic pics, so is there anything close to that?

Why a website?
>>2929199
Just use a photoviewer with a timer on it. I think honeyview has it.
What is the line between art and porn?
It's a spectrum with no perfect line
>>2929190
>line
IT'S A CUNT YA FOKKEN MICK
>>2929190
If the only purpose of a drawing is to evoke a reaction in someone's groin area, it's porn. Everything else is art.
Do you guys have a planned drawing schedule? If so could you share
>pic unrelated
Also, what are you thoughts on >picrelated?
Couldn't post because there was another thread with it
Year 1: Drawing basics: Form/boxes/comic strips/basic anatomy/imagination/basic perspective etc
Year 2: Advanced anatomy/advanced perspective/imagination/animals/20 page comic etc (I'm at year 2 now)
Year 3: Colors/values plus everything else
Year 4: Refining colors values
Also I just focus on one thing per day. Like today I just drew hands. Tomorrow I'll just draw torsos.

Post work.
I'm curious.
What the heck do I do, all I do is up to this quality and I'm sure you are laughing at it.
Can someone give me any advice on what to focus on
I'll fucking suicide if someone says rotate, I can't
rotate

At a Cross here. I cant really tell what is truely wrong... besides the hands.(weakness) Ill pose the cloth off version next to get a better anatomy, but I think I fucked up somewhere, or cant get the real feeling of its shape... (obviously not accurate to source material, obvious who.)
am i missing something basic?
Tried to make corrects previously.
Even tried to see the skellington structure was right to?

How can we use this old masters' knowledge to make our painting better and more faithful to the 500 years old tradition?
Is it traditional-exclusive? If so, can we at least imitate the effect?
Discuss.
Also, if anyone has some general painting tips you discovered / learned recently, please share.
Lastly - shouldn't we have a general thread specific for painting, general /pain/ or something? I'd say it's just as important in producing an interesting piece as drawing, and it often gets overlooked in critiques etc. in the /draw/ thread.
His own works don't really market Venetian painting very much. And the same principles in painting are still present in Florentine painting. The difference lies more in the response to the importance of classical examples and design. We can see in Michelangelo's unfinished Manchester Madonna that the light color would be painted over a dried darker tones. It's most noticeable on some of the more veil-like drapery. This can be seen even in fresco paintings where you can see that the light tints are painted over the base coloring, so the order is really quite similar.

Of course, the Manchester Madonna is in tempera (very possibly to be finished with oil glazes as with the Doni Tondo), but the same practices continued into oil painting even with the Florentines, although sometimes the light colors are painted darker on lighter. It still included white in this overpainting over the lighter ground. Sometimes the light colors are hatched with a small brush over a barely darker base.

>shouldn't we have a general thread specific for painting
I don't know if we should but some time ago there was a good thread about traditional media, lots of talk about watercolor too and very informative.
I wouldn't mind seeing threads dedicated to that kind of artwork more often since there's really a lot to discuss when it comes to traditional technique.
I recently started doing watercolor myself, it would be nice to talk about it a bit more.

Hi pixel/sprite artists of /ic/.
How did you start?
I have no artistic talent or skill, but I'm going to learn. I've read the sticky but I'm still lost. My end game is sprite/pixel art like pic related. Some recommend learning traditional art, studying proportions, perspective and construction and then eventually transitioning onto pixel art. Others say If my goal is to produce good pixel art, I should start by trying to emulate good pixel art and going from there.
I'm motivated and fully realize how much time I'm going to need to invest in this. I just need to be pointed in the right direction.
Literally Google.
Also find people that you admire and try to get some pointers from them. I recommend learning the fundamentals because it doesn't matter if you want to build a skyscraper, a castle or a two-story house, you need a solid foundation.
Pixel art is very specific. I would recommend:
-go through the basics of the sticky. Don't go all the way to grind fundamentals but at least be familiar and understand them
-read some sprite tutorials. There are specifics for sprites like the restricted palette, the aliasing, and other things that aren't covered in the sticky. Google is your friend here.
-find the tool that suit you. There are plenty of pixel-based editors, learn to use one efficiently
-study. There are sprite databases, sprites threads on 4chan. Analyse sprites, understand why they work, try to reproduce them. It's really important because with sprites, a single pixel can fuck up the whole thing.
-?????
-make it

knowing the foundations of 2d art is essential. you can learn them by drawing, or learn them by pixel art, but it's going to take you much longer with pixel art, as pixel art is drawing + an added set of difficulties associated with working with tiny squares. do both traditional and pixel art.
is this good enough?
>>2928836
What a stupid thread. You should feel bad
Looks fine if you're doing a pixel game
Did this today, looking for some feedback/critique! Took a pencil sketch from my class notes, then inked and colored it digitally. I feel like the coloring is too saturated/all over the place, though I'm not quite sure?
I usually just do digital all the way, but I still think that my pencil stuff has the most character. I was to work on translating that to digital.

Couldn't tell it was you until I saw this on my dash.

The fact that her far eye is wider, if thats not just an error, implies that her face is literally concave. Did someone beat her face in?

Oh wow, I somehow managed to forget to flip the canvas even once! This better?

Yeah, it's much different than my usual
HELP WITH ALCOHOL MARKERS
anyone here work with kurecolor alcohol markers?
could you tell me some good combination of markers to make nice trees and grass? and if possible also to make wood, i just want to know which ones
baby bump
>>2927165
Hey you could get some Airondak Earthtones and mix them with these alcohol markers; they don't interfere with the properties of the markers and create a printed effect just like them; contrary to the markers: the can create an unusual printed effect, so it's really easy to create hard edges used in wood
Since this is marker thread, I have been wondering.
If animist my paper with alcohol, can i blend colors as if they've never dried?
Didn't know they had a section for deviant art in the fucking Dali museum.
