How the fuck does one draw a character teleporting in comic format. I will be illustrating a small fight scene for a project, which will involve a character teleporting around the fight, but I have no idea how to convey this movement as economically and conscisely as possible. Any tips/diagrams/suggestions?
post your work

I would probably have some sort of after image or sort of zap effect leftover from where they just popped out. You can show surprise too maybe in the other people there at having seen someone disappear. You can also keep the other people static (copy pasted) in the same pose and have the teleporting person move around. Or create some portal type thing where they can partially go through. Maybe even break the fourth wall and have them go through a hole to a new panel or something.

It depends on how they're teleporting. If, say they're in a virtual world then you could show them appearing in a "storm" or data (like 0s and 1s spinning rapidly around them)
If you want to so them teleporting rapidly, the best way I know is drawing them in several locations at once but appearing transparent in each one.
Also draw their opponent looking around rapidly to imply that the teleporting character is moving around instead of just replicating.
The opponents expressions can show shock or confusion as the teleporting character moves around quickly.
What is it with newfags that infest this board?
>don't criticize me anon, i-it's my style
>everything's so negative here gosh I wish you were like Reddit
>we will all make it, just believe :3
You pieces of trash make this board insufferable. Yes, it's not for everyone because we take it very seriously. We really want to improve so of course there's lots of sad and depressed anons. It's a hard competition and you can't be happy about it if you really want to make it. Look at chinese, they work 16 hours a day just to make it, do you think they fucking smile every day? You don't know shit you lazy ass shitters.
imagine if you focused on drawing instead of making stupid posts that don't help anybody

alright /guys/ i need a big favor. My bday its coming and i want to get my first tattoo. This is my idea but i want it in coolors. Some one can help me to put color on it

>>2928244

wut
i was just asking for a favor but if you dont want to do it just dont do it,dont worry
I really like what I've seen from Steve Huston and grandpa Villpu. Does anyone have any experience with new masters academy? I mean 35 dollars/month is pretty cheap
do it
Oh shit it has Erik Olsons perspective course as well, yup definitely seems worth it

>I mean 35 dollars/month
Uh... I seem to remember it being cheaper...

Welcome to /ic/ you seem to be new around here!
Generally there's a beginner thread around where you can post your image and receive critic and feedback ( that thread is generally known as /beg/). Since you are a beginner I recommend you going there - maybe the feedback other beginners received will already help you!
Besides this is a rather bland drawing - it would be helpful to show us more of your work to really give any feedback. From the top off my head I'd suggest you tell us what you want to achieve. Do you want to become a professionell or is drawing only your hobby?
The figurine you drew is heavily stylized - you use symbols to represent it because you don't know how to draw an actual human being. So why not instead start with drawing with a reference for the time being? How does a man in a trenchcoat look like? Just google a reference picture and draw what you see!
I highly recommend to read the sticky/FAQ to get a general idea of /ic/ and the fundamentals.
The fundamentals are basic skills like how to draw complex things out off simple shapes and forms? How does human anatomy work. And more.
I hope this post helped you and you'll have a great day. Keep on drawing!
Sup d/ic/ks,
I'm on a digital decluttering spree and I've just reached my art ref and inspiration folders (save the best 'til last and all that).
I'm wondering how you guys sort your files? Do you name all of them? Or do you just keep sub-categorising?
I have so much that I'm not even sure where to start.
I just keep making subfolders.
I have so much, I'll never start.
I ended up creating a new folder every once in a while, which is just called its creation date. Save everything in there, so it's mostly really cluttery but sometimes there's a loose theme per folder and then I'd save a fitting image in one of the last three folders, depending on where it fits best.
Op here. Managed to clean up one of my reference folders. Only 6gb worth of ref here and it needs to be categorised even more but at least its a start. I have a few more ref folders to add and than its on to artwork folders.
Looks like Algenpfledger is tilting on Shaddy.
Lol.
Ouch
Not that that's gonna change anything though.

tl;dr wahhh stop calling photobashes paintings! Color picking is cheating!
Elitist bullshit. It's fine if he doesn't want to use it in his work, but I don't think he should get so uptight about things. I don't use those techniques either out of personal choice, but I recognize it slows me down and it's a price I accept I pay.

>Looks like Algenpfledger is tilting on Shaddy.
Which is ironic since Shaddy has created one of the absolutely best tutorials on digital painting.
HOW DO I MAKE ART-RELATED FRIENDS
>>2926563
why the fuck would you want that? get some normie orbiters who you can recruit as your personal drones
don't
most artfags are mentally unstable
just make a friendly rival acquaintance

Not gonna make it.
>tfw waiting on a commission
how do you ask for updates without badgering the artist?
>Hi, Sorry for bothering you. It's been a couple weeks, and I was wondering about the status of my art commission. Are there any updates on it? I'd really like to be able to have it by ___. Please let me know if this is doable. Thank you!
Can add if they've been flaking for ages:
>Also, could I get weekly updates on it, say every Sunday or whichever day is convenient to you?
Can add in desperate situations:
>If I don't hear from you by Monday, I'm afraid I'll need to find another artist.
Then ask for refund through them or PayPal if they don't reply by set time.
Don't ask for daily updates unless they agreed to that at the start, or you're paying what amounts to full time.
>>2927694
>you have to take into consideration if anyone was before you
>how long has it been since they initially said they'd start on it?
>how long has it been since you last asked if at all?
When I'm doing commissions, I usually start on 2 or 3 depending if the person replies in time. I always draw on a first come first serve basis so say if the second person replies first and the first person replies later, while I haven't finished the second person's art yet, the first person gets priority. This leads to my usual 2 days to work on a commission hiking up to a week or more. ESPECIALLY if it's more than one character, and I'm working on 3 and they all have detailed backgrounds.
I say it's reasonable to ask after about a week.
Online course on art history? I want general ideas of different styles and periods of art? Any of you anons have any good resources or a video series?
Khan Academy has a course on art history (i just recommend that you skip the extra jewish propaganda at the end of some lessons)

the great courses dvds
you used to be able to get them easy back in the day but you'll probably have a hard time locating them now
hey, poorfag here. Was wondering if i could get by in this course just using a basic ruler. Also is this course actually helpful??

>"hay gays, critique on this [picture where absolutely everything is wrong]" or "How do I draw well"
>get redirected to proper thread, leaving thread up not deleting it obviously
>"Hay guys, how do I git gud"
>"read the sticky"
>guy stops drawing after like a week
>repeat all year 3 times a day
Maybe you should read the fucking sticky or google like a non-pleb.
why do you keep making threads about threads

Has drawing benefited you in other areas of your life? For me:
>my eye is much more observant now, I look at thing more closely, notice how things change in perspective, how light works, textures, etc
>my ability to visualize things in 3d has increased
>people think I'm more cool now because I can draw
>>2926777
>>my eye is much more observant now, I look at thing more closely, notice how things change in perspective, how light works, textures, etc

how is that relevant to helping u in other areas in life?

are there some actually good and somewhat alive art/drawing forums? /ic/ is getting worse and worse by the day. Question threads are extremely slow and majority of times you won't get any reply.
/beg/ is the fastet general here yet totally useless, it's painfully clear that only shitters lurk there, majority of times the somewhat decent posters get totally ignored while the total beginners insulted or get told to read the sticky.
The rest of the board, aside from the few generals, is filled with bullshit and /pol/itics

>/ic/ is getting worse and worse by the day
People have been saying this for like 10 years.
Anyways, the best alternative is to find a group of people around your level or better and who don't waste too much time on maymays, then make a discord group with them.
