Did you like the native americans more or less after learning about them in a more meaningful way than a high school class /his/?

My historical opinion is irrelevant unless a sufficient lack of evidence requires me to fill in blanks, i liked the roman republic, doesn't mean my opinion about caesar has anything to do with history.
Your interpretation of history in a moral or ethical sense is a political discussion.

I resent that they are used as a way to basically shame modern Americans just for existing.
>>3348484
Learning about their viciousness and then their victim complex when they ended up being subdued do not shed any light on why should I like them
Why do most atheists look like this? Why do they get so angry over hat memes?
Is atheism the worst religion?

It all lines up really. I could almost literally imagine Robespierre repeating "efface! Deface! Efface! Efface!" As he sees the many people who fall victim to the guillotine
Is it real? What is it?

The Gulf War did not take place. It was all a simulation.

Soldiers literally always get sick when they're placed in exotic locations without having proper time to acclimatize. Read about colonial wars in Africa and you'll hear all about European soldiers constantly getting sick because they're being exposed to African diseases to which they have no immunity. Soldiers who've been stationed on the continent for a long time have built up some immunity to the environment and consequently are able to cope much more effectively. It's not any different for the Middle-East.

It's kind of hard to argue with that statement. Augustus was a fucking boss. Shame that the rest of the dynasty was just insane lunatics.
Did Spartans contribute anything yo the world or they were just Big Muscular Warriors?

If it wasn't for Spartans all Europe would be speaking Iranian right now

"Carthage Must Be Destroyed" by Richard Miles
>Phoenicians
Same thing as Carthage.
>>3348211
thx, is that about all of their history or just the punic wars?
>>3348338
It does naturally talk about the Punic Wars but it spends a LONG time talking about Carthage's early history before that.
Does language inherently influence the mental process? It seems that our perception of the world is largely influenced by our native language's grammatical structure. The Sapir–Whorf hypothesis is interesting in that regard but leaves much to be desired. What about bilingual, multilingual people? Does learning a new language change our thinking? Do we "think" something only because we're using a certain language at the moment?

I was thinking about making a thread on this topic.
This might sound strange but is there a correct form of linguistics? When I look at the grammar of different languages, the Germanic ones like English seem the most logical to me. Other language families, like Romantic for instance, seem illogical and "wrong" somehow. The rules just don't seem to work with the way my thoughts are organized.
The obvious answer is that I'm just biased towards the Germanic grammatical structure since English was my first language, and my second was German.
But even with that bias in mind, I still can't help but feel that Germanic grammar makes the most sense.

Without sufficient vocabulary, it is hard to conceptualize many things. Beyond that, I don't think it matters.

Could someone recommend good book or two on the organization and equipment of the British Expeditionary Forces circa 1914?
Why is it that 90% of threads on /his/ directly violate usually at least two of the rules, maybe three?

"Oh dearest husband. Where have you been? I've been looking all over the Annex for you, I'm glad you're safe. Let's play a game. I've got this old diary with some empty pages in it. You can tear out a page, write a name on one side, I'll write a rebuttal on the other, and then we'll switch. Maybe once my father's workers have all gone home, we can cuddle together in his office. Come on, it'll be fun."
Explain to me why Maoists considered Confucianism to be such a problem. Confucianism to me always seemed like pretty bland stuff. "Respect your parents." "Be nice to other people." "Don't make an ass of yourself in public." The sort of thing that very few people would take offense to. Also, how is Confucius viewed in modern China? Is he still a bad guy, or is the government cool with him now?
Confucianism has some hardcore metaphysics and theology which are notions most Marxists avoid like the plague.
Plus it is a strong reminder of an imperial past which would be at odds with the socialist future. Retrograde in their eyes.
Though I recall that Neo-Confucianism did become pretty popular for a while in the 60's and 70's, though I am not sure about today.

Respect elders, Respect parents, Respect family.
All counter the "worship Mao" mantra.
>>3347777
Did Mao actually want people to worship him as a god or something?
