If you actually read medieval history you would know how often the chronicles counterdict more reliable sources, such as government clerk records as early as 1050 ad. On major and minor points, so I don't know why you would relay on them much.
Anyways the truth is there wasn't much of interest happening in the west in all likelihood.

Hey, /his/. Being a fapstronaut, one is always looking out for good quotes from historical figures for encouragement, but a more interesting thought just entered my head. Just like with PTSD, it doesn't seem that there's a lot of evidence of people historically dealing with problems of unrestrained sexualities.
Like, of course we have plenty of people in the past who spoke out against sexual degeneracy, but are there any famous accounts of people who wrote about their journey fighting this specific inner demon of theirs? Augustine of course was promiscuous before becoming a Saint, but he just up and changes, never seemed to have had a deeper struggle regarding his promiscuity.

So depictions of conquistadors during the conquest of the Aztec Empire or even during Columbus that you often see in movies is inaccurate.
The conquistadors of the early 16th century would probably look more like the ones that painting

I've always had the impression that societal corruption, organized and street crime, unethical capitalism, basically anything that requires absolutely no coscience to be done, all of these acts are directly correlated to how many people are living in our societies. If you have 90 millions people, there is absolutely no way you'll be able to convince every single one of them to lead an honest life: this prospect would be so ridicolous that you can just assume that in all parts of society there will always be a certain percentage of assholes who want to see the world burn. Since this is a problem linked to overpopulation, and since there is no reasonable solution to it, I genuinely think that this problem can't be solved. Whatever society will arise, it will decay simply because certain people just want to create opposition, no matter what, regardless of the ideologies of their time.
Now, I'm sure I'm saying nothing new, and that countless books have been written about these vague subjects I've mentioned: so, can you guys give me an heads-up, and maybe suggest me some books on the matter?
Also, what do you think about what I've just described?

I lost my faith four months ago and since then my life has been a living hell. All of my anxieties have come back in full force and everything feels entirely hopeless. I've always hated the way I look, so having an actual purpose has always been incredibly important to me. Without Christianity, life doesn't seem worth living. And now it feels like God is calling me back to him.
The reason I became a deist was because I had a lot of doubts about whether Jesus came back for the gentiles after reading Matthew for the first time. Then I was convinced after reading that there a lot of archaeological contradictions between nature and the old testament.
My question is if it's possible for me to have faith that doesn't waver? Are there any books that might help me? I've already read Mere Christianity and I didn't feel that it was very insightful or reassuring :(
