Do you like (pre Tim Cook) Apple products?
No, they were always weird for the sake of being weird

I liked the first & second gen of iPod Touch
Just seemed like a nice device to have in addition to having a dumbphone

Huh, if you remove the logo and put the black on the top, you have the google pixel lul kek Kappa

Welcome to last month, retard.
We've known this since about a week after the initial switch reveal.
>/v/tard still salty that a handheld is selling better than his console.

Why isn't /g/ using Urbit? It allows you to control and host your own website and media without having to deal with ICW3 or Zuckerberg. It only works on Linux and macOS. It's also free software.
http://urbit.org/
get out
Certainly this isn't a lazy cash grab like the other thousands of new distnets popping up.
>>59480157
Urbit is actually pretty good, but it doesn't have the traction or finish of other distributed computing technologies.
I'd rather use Etherum and IPFS than this desu.
I'm not big on coding but how do I get started in this area and get a job? I hear it's one of the biggest growth areas. Are there good GUI based tools to learn?
scratch
>>59480078
Step 1) Get into statistics
Step 2) Learn about machine learning
Step 3) Learn R and Matlab and some meme machine learning framework, for example Tensorflow (which also requires you to learn Python and some CUDA)
use
y = mx + b
works every time
never ever buy toshiba laptop,
plastic cheap ass material, worst keyboard i have ever seen, fucking stupid ass monitor literally fucking with my eyes, looking to darkness

Never ever buy a toshiba product
Well, Toshiba's been falling apart, so...
I've had bad experiences with their, "Encore," tablets.
I only buy Acer and Asus
One step away from chink shit but still good specs for the price
>>59480025
Cheap garbage; but hey, they also make nuclear reactors.
>not using a $7 TV dongle to receive anything from amateur radio to shortwave broadcasts from around the world
explain yourself.
also, RTL-SDR thread, anything ham welcomed here.
>>59479921
I bought a cheap one but the cheap antenna broke. Can't even find one to get because ham's are so autistic about their antennas.
>>59479940
just use a DIY dipole like I do.
Grab a cork, grab two telescopic antennas from scrapped radios, buy 5 meters of 50ohm coax and solder the wires to the telescopic antennas. There you have a perfect anntenna, I use mine to receive police and stuff at 170~MHz ish frequencies.
Or just hook it up to a TV antenna, like I'm doing right now.
>>59479975
See that's what I'm talking about. Scrap this, make that, works best for this frequency.
I just want a link on amazon to buy something.
So the new Redmonk study is out:
http://redmonk.com/sogrady/2017/03/17/language-rankings-1-17/
take it with a grain of salt of course but:
Haskell, Erlang, R, Common Lisp more popular than ObjectiveC.
Thats quite interesting, thought Apple stuff was supposedly more popular
>curryscript most popular
Sad!
>Haskell, Erlang, R, Common Lisp more popular than ObjectiveC.
Are you retarded?

>it is 2017 and the GNOME developers still haven't added one
Why does Linux suck so hard?
>>59479896
Cause Linus hasn't got around to adding image preview to the kernel.
Hang in there bro, we'll all make it.
>>59479924
is this a joke about micro/monolithic kernels
>>59479896
I was told by a GNOME dev that GTK4 might finally have it. He told me that they don't do it because of security... which is total bullshit.
I have a programming job interview tomorrow
Besides the usual fizzbuzz, what things should I look up beforehand?
depends on what company you are interviewing with.
Read "Cracking the coding interview" it has nice examples.
You have to become Chad for 30 minutes.

If you're asked which language you're proficient in, don't fucking list every shit you've dabbled upon, just list the ones you have mastery of.

In the last thread we reached a consensus that those who don't want to go to Mars are the worst kind of people and if they got there way we wouldn't have discovered the Americas for 500 more years.
One of these would work well with Martian dust. Though I've read that you need your panels to track the sun on Mars or the power isn't good enough.
Before going to Mars I'd rather have a lunar colony so we can field test and train. Maybe even have a launch site up there, surely there would be an advantage in doing so.

Any interesting normie stories? I had this happen to me last weekend.
>Mother wants me to "reset" an old computer to clean it up.
>Backup all the files (stuff in User folder) and reformat.
>Use Ninite to install most applications.
>She is mad that Microsoft Office isn't on the computer anymore.
>Ask her for the disc so I can reinstall it.
>"It was already on the computer so I gave the disc to Goodwill"
>It was a $300 version of Office with 3 PC licenses and she gave it away because she never thought she would ever have to reinstall
>She is also mad that the desktop icons "aren't like before".
>"I didn't think resetting it would get rid of everything".
>Ask her, "What did you mean by reset then, and what did you expect to happen?"
>"I don't know."
>Mother is angry at me for "breaking the computer"
Don't ever do what normies ask you to do. Often times I can't even delete malware because they'll complain about the browser looking different or whatever Bonzi Buddy type program that they enjoy is no longer on there. They ask for things without understanding what they are asking for. What they really want is for their computer to be faster, but for absolutely nothing to change. They don't understand that you can't make it faster without getting rid of crap.
>>59479631
Tell her you're not her personal tech support and she should be paying you.
>>59479631
my mom used to tell me to fix her comp and I always said no because her brain doesn't work and she has no logic
after 20 years of this she finally started to agree and I put linux + kde on her computer and libreoffice and she likes it a lot because my step dad's work comp got cryptolock and fucked his laptop & computer over the network and nothing she runs or I run was harmed
someone asked me if I knew how to 'backup a computer'. i really didn't know how to answer. backup the files? doesn't anyone know how to copy files? what do people think happens in a computer.
