just curious if running the auxilary from my pc into the rca auxilary on the amp and out the headphone will achieve the same thing as a dac? curious how the old vs new stacks up since i don't have a dac to compare with my own headphones and whatnot.

Hey tech experts.

I'm wondering it the 4th gen I5 starting to get obsolete in terms of gaming performance. I've paired my I5 4460 3,2 Ghz with a 1070, thinking hitting 60fps @ultra would be a piece of cake. So far I've had mixed results, games like BF1 run @60 on ultra, while on the otherhand Mass Effect Andromeda has fps dips. This must be a cpu related issue?

What's your experiences?
Do you pair high end GPU's with old CPU's. What sort of performances are you getting on your rigs?

Can someone explain to me why the 7700K fails at minimum frames at 4K vs. 1800X?
I keep hearing from lazy reviewers that '1080p is an accurate measure of CPU power' yet they cant explain statistically significant improvements for minimum frames, lowest 1% frames, and dropped frames (ms) in the 1800X at resolutions above 1080p
(This ignoring the fact that the 1800X still has better frame times at 1080p in games optimised for hyper threading)

My first PC had 12mhz and came with windows 95
a wooping 8MB of RAM and 200MB HDD

now i recently build my latest PC with 8x3.6ghz 16GB RAM and several TB HDD running with linux

if i compare win95 to linux today the changes seem not as big as the development on the hardware end

is os development lacking?

Other than the Ubuntu tablet they released a while ago, is there anyway to do it without a ton of driver incompatibilities and fucking around with hacky fixes that don't really work?

I recently used a Windows tablet and liked the experience of using a more desktop orientated OS on a tablet compared to Android but don't want anything to do with Windows.

My personal Google Chrome profile is said to have been used in Ukraine (sorry, Russia), and I don't know why.

I am hoping it's a geolocation bug, but if not, what do you guys think I should do about it? I am treating it like a hack regardless, but I'm a big guy at a big company that has spoken out before about Crimea and maybe Russia has targeted me?

What's your thoughts /g/?
