Post your component list, rate other anons', and ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price or to improve specs or build quality.

Assemble your parts list; built-in price comparisons by vendor and a compatibility filter.

Anyone have a Dell U2515H monitor? Mine just arrived and it's great, but the colour calibration seems a bit off (too warm and yellow for my taste).

What is the best colour calibration for this monitor?

what is "cheap" to you? Give us a budget.
>>

>>59491280
Well I don't necessarily have a budget per se for those, it's just that my whole life I've always had the cheapest keyboards & mice you could find and it never bothered me.

But perhaps /g/ knows better, and perhaps there are great things I don't know about.
>>
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/GnZmJV

at what point does it become too much?
>>
>>59491306
They don't. I fell for the mech keyboard meme and although it's got a nice feel it doesn't make a single difference in performance.

As for mice it depends what you're doing. If you like shooting games and you're shit at them, don't bother, if you're good at them and you care about maybe a percent or two extra accuracy, then google the competitive mouse by sensor list and buy what you think you need.

Otherwise get a nice combo for under 30 dollars because it just werks.

Twenty one fans? Yeah, that might be too much. That thing is going to sound like leaf blower.
>>
>>59491306
I've used the cheap Logitech keyboards (like Logitech K120) for the longest time and they "just work". Default layout, no bells and whisltes except for a few media keys. Cheap to replace when you spill something on them. I know a few people who use their $10 keyboards after years still.

Only recently I got a more ergonomic Microsoft one.
>>
>>59491321
Whats the difference between those fans and the Noctua NF A14 FLX - apart from the colour?

I picked up three A14's earlier in the week for my Ryzen build. Just waiting on the motherboard now. REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
>>
>>59491349
Well the case fits 2x 560mm radiators, so the idea is to have push/pull going on both of those with the quietest fans I can get. But I'm not sure how additive the noise is.

I mean I could just get deltas and watch it fly off into the sunset too.

Quieter and they only have one speed.

I'd like to think I'm rather good at FPS but even then I don't think I care enough about buying an expensive mouse for gaming.

I can't bring much to the table in terms of a new build or anything exciting.

What I have is a $1200 build from 2012 with upgrades to my case (an NZXT Phantom to the Be Quiet Silent Base 800), my GPU (a Radeon HD 7970 upgraded to a GTX 970), (8GB DDR3 upgraded to 16GB DDR3), and an i5 3570k upgraded to an i7 3770k.

I also added more SSDs and external hard drives but I'm pretty sure most anons upgrade that stuff often.

My cable management is shit-- I already know.

I'm having a hard time choosing. My main problem, with the triple monitors, is that displayport makes the monitor price skyrocket. Should I just get HDMI and use displayport adapters?

The far monitor on the right actually does this, it's the Asus PA238. I've tried it and it just doesn't fit my setup if I turn it since it blocks the TV (wasn't thinking about it when I mounted it). It's all good though I'm used to poorfag landscape mode from browsing for so long.
>>

How do you attach three monitors to a pc? Can that be done with just one video card? And how do you have a different thing going on each of those monitors? It looks like three separate computers but I know it isn't. How is that accomplished?

Yeah connecting 3+ monitors is easy. The 970 that I own has 3 display ports and a dvi. You can convert display port to anything so it's good for dp>dvi or dp>hdmi if you need those, but the audio doesn't come with dp>hdmi.

I have never used more than one monitor per pc at one time. I never realized until now that I could use more than one port on the card at one time.

OK, so I might get myself another VG248QE. I've seen what looks like two totally separate desktops. How is that done? Also, I've seen video games that display across both screens for en extra wide effect. How is that done? And can both of these things be done at the same time on the same rig?

Sorry to hit you with so many questions. Could I play Far Cry on one monitor while browsing the web on another monitor? With one keyboard and mouse? How does that work exactly?

The absolute barbarism
>>
>>59491819
You can spread your multiple monitor resolution between monitors with your display driver.

It doesn't matter if it's AMD or Nvidia, you can have multiple screens register at a higher resolution. For example, two 1080p screens become one for a game. However, the border between both screens will be a distracting factor or even be in the way.

3 monitors is better but you need the horsepower of your PC to push those displays. If not it may not work well. And let's be honest here-- for a second.

Multiple monitor gaming is a meme for the most part. It's a lot like 3D gaming.

I have seen people use three portrait displays and game and it looks great. Unfortunately until they design monitors with virtually no bezel it is pointless really, at least in my opinion.
>>
>>59491420
I've been thinking about setting up a tv screen above my monitors but I'm worried that having to look up all the time will end up uncomfy.

Well for me I had this setup when I had a super comfy recliner chair as my PC chair. If you have a normalfag pc chair that's pretty uncomfortable and hard, or it doesn't recline/swivel it will probably suck.

I also had this similar setup in a studio apartment but my bed was across from it, this made it really comfy for the ladies. Got laid a lot with that setup but it's really particular to your situation. Pic related, my kitchen was right next to the PC setup and the bathroom was down the hall. The PC was right in front of the bed.

ACHCHUALY DisplayPort does carry audio.
https://www.displayport.org/faq/

>>59491819
>I've seen what looks like two totally separate desktops. How is that done?
This is the default setup. It's called "extended desktop," and it does just that: Extends your desktop to another monitor. With this you choose one monitor to be your primary monitor, which is where your fullscreen applications (games, etc.) will start up.

>Also, I've seen video games that display across both screens for en extra wide effect. How is that done? And can both of these things be done at the same time on the same rig?
Can be done in a few different ways. The answer to the second question is both yes and no.
One way to achieve this, and probably the most common, is via a feature in your graphics driver. On Nvidia it's called Surround, whereas on AMD it's called Eyefinity. Both will configure your computer to register the monitors you choose as one, e.g. 3 1080p monitors will be seen as one 5760x1080 monitor by your OS and applications.

Another way to achieve this is with a piece of software called SoftTH. You install it as a directx hook for each game you want to use it on, which allows your games to run on all available monitors even if you have them set up as extended desktop in Windows, essentially doing the same as Eyefinity/Surround but on an application specific basis. This doesn't work with newer versions of DirectX, however. If I recall correctly, experimental support for DX11 is still in the works.

A third, and nowadays unnecessary, way to do it is with a Matrox Triplehead box. They were used back when graphics cards only supported 1 or 2 monitors, but they're no longer needed.

>Could I play Far Cry on one monitor while browsing the web on another monitor? With one keyboard and mouse? How does that work exactly?
Yes. It works exactly as you would expect it to.

Keyboard - "Logitech G11 Gaming Keyboard"
Mouse - "SteelSeries Sensei"

Monitor 2 (never used for games, only videos, music, and browsing internet) - "LG W2252TE-PF"
Processor - "Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K @ 3.50GHz" (shows up as 4 of them in decide manager)
Case - "NZXT H440"

What should I replace? Monitor 2, mouse, and keyboard are quite old but they haven't died so I'm still using them.

I'm mostly playing Blizzard games, RTS games, and Conan Exiles(which looks insane) so I don't think I'll need a new graphics card, but sometimes I get freezes in Conan Exiles and I experience screen tearing quite often in Overwatch. I've been thinking about getting a screen with 144Hz instead of 60, but I don't know if that'll eliminate the issue about the screen tearing or not. Anyone computer smart who could give some advice?

Worth mentioning that monitor 1 has a vague purple tint instead of just grey, which is annoying mostly whenever I start the computer but after a few minutes it turns into grey. I don't know if the screen does this because of cold room temperature (it's around 0 celsius/~33farenheit when I wake up) or because my eyes aren't adjusted to it.

devs don't care anymore to optimize their shit.

Back then, hardware severely bottlenecked software. Devs had to really optimize their shit to be able to run on the few MBs of RAM

Today, hardware is so hilariously ahead that software isn't needed to be optimized anymore. Now it's the software bottlenecking the hardware

This probably isn't the right spot for this. I just did a big upgrade. New cooling, motherboard, ram, case. I love it, it's incredible, so happy I went for it.

My question is about overclocking though. It's going to take me forever to find the optimal overclock if I do it the way I used to back in the c2d days. Change voltage or clock, boot, stress, and it might not crash for 7 hours. I did a quick and dirty overclock with my 6600k.
[email protected] peaking realistic load at 68c. Is there realistically anything else to gain here? I really need every bit of perf per core that I can get my primary game shows great scaling from it.

Next I have samsung b-die 3600 cl16 diims. Someone on the review said he got them to 3750@14-14-14-30 1.55v. Is a 150mhz and a 2cl reduction a signifficant increase?

i leave mine at factory specs which is supposed to be the most accurate. brightness at 35, contrast 50.

if you want the colors to be as physically accurate as possible you have to leave it at the 'Standard' preset. this is only really important if you do photo/video/texture work though. it's done this way to ensure that whatever you're looking at is going to look the same for most other people. as an artist the last thing you want is for your work to look perfect on your monitor but total shit on everyone elses. hence the standard.

for casual use or gaming / watching movies you should be fine changing the settings to personal preferences (can always revert to factory specs), it's not like you're suddenly going to miss out on anything.

it may feel a bit yellow tinted when you have lower brightness (it shipped with brightness at 50 but that blows my eyes out) even though it actually isn't.

don't go dual-gpu man. i've been there. the temperature issues are huge, the cards die fast, the power consumption is huge, the noise is bad. and that's just the little things. the worst part is the micro stuttering and the terrible support for multi-GPU setups in most games.

always get a single core GPU. grab a 1080ti or wait for vega.

Hey guys, I built my first PC around 5 years ago and I'm looking to upgrade to a completely new build. It's been a while so I'm kind of out of the loop when it comes to the new hardware that's out.

I'm planning on buying an Asus PG348Q monitor and I'd like to be able to play games like Arma 3 and The Witcher 3 at max settings with at least a steady 60 fps (if possible, anyway. I have a feeling that big fps drops in Arma 3 are an inevitability). I don't spend much money so I have plenty to throw into this build; my budget is basically whatever it needs to be to get the performance I'm looking for.

From the research I've done, NVidia seems like the way to go for high-end systems. I'm not sure which card to go with. Based on the benchmarks I saw, the 1080 seems to stay around an average of 60fps in most games at 3440 x 1440, but the minimum fps dips down as low as 40 - 50 fps in some games. I've only seen the 1080ti's minimum fps drop below 60 in a few games. Would it be retarded to buy the 1080ti just to keep the fps from dropping below 60?

This whole Ryzen deal has me really confused. Back when I built my PC, Intel was a no-brainer for anybody wanting to play Arma because it's so CPU intensive. How would Ryzen stack up against Intel CPUs in Arma nowadays?

How do I figure out what kind of wattage my PSU needs to have? Is there some kind of rule for how much extra wattage it should have?

How much should I be spending on a motherboard and case? There are so many choices that I don't know what's overkill and what isn't.

Thanks in advance to anybody who decides to read all of this shit.

With Ryzen you can get double the cores of Intel (and like 80-90% per-core performance) for the same price. In Arma specifically that's a huge deal, but in most games it doesn't help out at all. Still, 60fps is not that demanding and you don't need 5GHz clocks for 60fps (the extra cores also usually means a better minimum fps compared to Intel)
4K ultrashort at 60fps isn't insane, but I would still recommend a 1080 or above. I have a 1070 and some games (witcher with hairworks) drops down to 60fps at 2560x1440, I'm sure the extra pixels would push it below 60fps
If you're only getting 59fps just fucking adjust a setting you noob, a 1080 would wreck that screen at "high" settings, it's just that benchmarks are made at max settings
You won't need more than 650w PSU, which luckily happens to be the most widespread and on-sale wattage around
Your motherboard choice is going to be driven 100% by chipset needs and brand, there's not a lot to say here unless you like flashy extras
Get whatever case you want, I got a $25 case for my $1200 system and have no ragrets

Can HDMI send the signal to turn off/sleep a monitor when the computer goes idle/turns off?
I had an issue with my old Acer monitor where it wouldn't sleep but rather display "NO SIGNAL" instead.

I got a Dell S2716DGR new with a DisplayPort cable which I plug into an EVGA GTX980ti. With it installed I'm able to shut down the computer and have the monitor turn off automatically which is great. But my problem now is that when the computer goes idle and the monitor shuts off, I can't wake it up unless I restart the whole computer.

If DisplayPort was the only cord capable of sending the handshake signal to shut down the monitor, I don't want to go back to HDMI if its cable is incapable of doing this.

Damned if I do, damned if I don't. Fuck salt.

My old monitor which I forgot the brand, but it was connected via VGA, and it was able to turn itself off when I turn the computer off. And it would turn itself on when I turned the computer on.
My next monitor, an Acer H243H was connected via HDMI. It looked a lot nicer than trying through the VGA port which made everything look like a poor quality JPEG. BUT I noticed pretty much right away that when I turned off the computer, the monitor would remain on but remain black screen and display "NO SIGNAL"
I searched high and low and could only figure that the HDMI cable was not able to send the signal to from the pc to turn off. I should have tested it with a DVI port, but never did.
This new monitor (Dell S2716DGR) has the output for HDMI, but it came with a DisplayPort cable. After the Acer incident, I feel hesitant to use it becuase I now believe that HDMI cannot send the shutoff signal to the monitor.
But this monitor's problem is that it will turn itself off when the computer idles (instead of using a screensaver) which is GOOD, but it will not wake itself back up. At all. I have to restart the computer for it to reawaken.
So I'm back on the HDMI cable. And I'm not happy about it.

>>
>>59498037
So you're looking to do a wide 1440p type deal? For that I'd go for a 1080ti. A 1080 would probably do it but I'd want that extra cushion. If you waited for AMD Vega, that would likely be a viable option too, but we don't know that yet, and if you want to build now, the 1080ti is your best bet.

For CPU I'd recommend an AMD RyZen, probably a 1700 and do a mild OC, or, if you want to spend more, I ended up just buying an 1800X. Can't say I've used it yet but there is data out there to suggest comparable to Intel performance in a cheaper chip. Any R7 chip I think you would be happy with. An Intel 7700K would also be a good option from the Intel side, especially with overclocking. For AMD don't buy anything non-RyZen on the CPU front. The Vishera is a dead chip now and won't match well with your 1080ti. You'd probably be about equally happy with a 7700K or a RyZen chip, as the differences are minor now.

For board I would pick the highest end chipset for the respective CPU you buy, I would spend up to or around 200 bucks for a good Gigabyte or ASRock on the AMD side and for Intel ASUS and Gigabyte also seem to do well.

Wattage for a single 1080ti I'd feel safe with an 850. You could probably do less but remember a PSU is most efficient near 50% load Seasonic makes some good PSUs. I personally have an EVGA Supernova 1000 P2 and it is quite nice. Way overkill for my system but a nice PSU.

Cases, I'll always first recommend Fractal Design. An R5 (or similar ATX case, I think it's the Define C or S or something now maybe?) would suit that build well. I have an R2 XL bought in '13 I absolutely adore. Nanoxia seems to be another good case maker. Just find something you like the looks of. Good case makers I'd recommend checking out:
-Fractal Design
-Nanoxia
-Lian-Li
-Phanteks
-Corsair (IMO hit or miss on the lower end cases)
-Cooler Master makes some tanky cases but they're ugly IMO.

Anyone ITT have a Ryzen setup already? Is it stable enough to rely on for server use? Long story short,y current server is a mere pentium dual core and 4GB of ram. Even just the pentium is a 49w tdp. Meanwhile the Ryzen 1700 is doing 8c/16t at 65w tdp and can be set lower by adjusting the clock.

Is there anything I should know before pulling the trigger on a 1700/asrock taichi board and 32GB of ddr4? This is intended for server purposes only. I have the exact case in your image. Here are my current temps. I owned a 1080 pascal a few weeks ago that was hitting high 80s and I was assuming the case was having airflow issues. Returned that shit and changed it for a 1080 ftw. So far the card hasn't gone over 60.

You would be surprised how often that is apparently not the case.

And I need the M-ITX support because my current computer is an Alienware X51 R2 I won in a raffle. I want to run it using an actual PSU and hook in another hard drive. With later and more costly updates to happen later and the original hardware to go back to the X51 case.

how autistic is this potential setup?

I've found all these parts secondhand & couple refurbished.
Already have the CPU.

I'm not a big on modern games but I love emulating older games. SNES/N64/PS1/PS2/SEGA/etc etc. Newest game I play much of is Kerbal Space Program. My laptop's 500gb HDD is struggling between all the roms and also being my main computer for school/personal/etc.

I want to build a very mild rig that I can just hook up to my cheap 50" element TV and store some movies/shows on and do all my emulators/roms.

Does this poverty build look pretty decent for what I want?

Im on a 2010 40". As someone else said, response time is shit.

At the time I played alot of xbawx. I was using a monitor because my tv was crt. The crt shit itself and I bought this tv and switched over. During that same time, I quit playing games and watched netflix for about a year.

I got back on xbawx and was horrified to find out I sucked at games I use to excell at. I couldnt even pilot aircraft the (which I was rather good at). I just assumed that being offline took its toll on me. I was playing around with other displays a few weeks ago, this tv is suposed to be 120hz and the other monitor was running at 75hz. The mouse would run fin on the other monitor and when I moved over to the main monitor I was horrified to see a huge response time lag that I had just been use to for all of these years.
I can move the mouse and actually not see it move for a noticeable time (it just wasn't apparent to my young untrained eye.)

I beleive the "120 hz" bullshit is for cable only and hdmi is running at 30 or 60 hz

Don't be. Ease your mind this way — Find your motherboard on pcpartpicker.com. Click on it to see its page. Look down along the left side for the memory types it accepts. Your ram is 288-pin DIMM. You ram is DDR4-2400.

For example —
Mother board (AMD B350)
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/yBtWGX/asrock-ab350-pro4-atx-am4-motherboard-ab350-pro4

Notice that is says it accepts 288-pin DIMMs up to DDR4-2666? It also specifically mentions the 2400. Your ram is compatible with that motherboard.

Hey guys. Never Built a PC before, or even had a pc for gaming. Decided id like to give it a shot but was looking at a pre built model. Most of the comments say it's a good deal and a similar price, if not cheaper, than building it myself I'd like to be able to game comfortably when anything i want but i will also be using this PC for audio engineering and possibly video editing. Im in the USA....Here is the computer from best buy

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gamer-supreme-liquid-cooled-desktop-intel-core-i7-32gb-memory-geforce-gtx-1070-240gb-solid-state-drive-3tb-hdd-black-orange/5374302.p?skuId=5374302 for 1540.

another i looked at has the same specs but 16 gb ram with 2 tb HD with 128GB SSD. for 1430.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/cyberpowerpc-gamer-supreme-liquid-cooled-desktop-intel-core-i7-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070-120gb-ssd-2tb-hdd-black-blue/5374303.p?skuId=5374303

I feel like for a 100 dollars i may as well go with the first one.

Im looking at 2 monitors. One is an extra wide lg that would be good for multi tasking. The other is a 144 hz that is better for gaming. Do you guys think that one it really makes that much of a difference? Will i run into problems trying to game with a 21:9 ratio?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-29-ips-lcd-hd-219-ultrawide-monitor/4922000.p?id=bb4922000&skuId=4922000

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-24-led-fhd-monitor-black/8767099.p?skuId=8767099

both are about the same price. My overalll budget is 1800 dollars give a take a hundred or 2. Anyway what do you guys think?
>>
>>59510768
The G4560 is sold out across all of Canada, nobody has it in stock right now. I think this isn't a problem with NCIX, more with the short supply of this CPU thanks to it becoming a meme on youtube.

You can build your own pc. It isn't hard. You will get a tremendous sense of accomplishment and satisfaction from building it yourself. You will even learn quite in the process.

The best reason to build your own is because you will maximize your money. You are looking to spend $1800. You could build a monster pc for that money, but BestBuy gives you an ordinary pc for that money.

Examine this ~$1650 pc -
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Kvrkm8
>>
>>59511732

Then you can take that $1650 build and make one change, upgrading from the GTX 1080 to a GTX 1080ti, taking you to just over your $1800 mark. Performance wise, you can't improve much better than this rig.

Was going to build another PC, but have decided to wait a bit more since I don't really play anything that is super demanding. Current is a g752 with a 6700HQ/980M and it seems to do fine with most things.

That being said, I'm looking to maybe get a nicer monitor since I don't think there's a point to building something with a 1080ti when all I have are 1080p 60hz screens. Recommendations? I really like the ultrawides but $1200 for a fucking 34" ips panel makes my dick hurt.
>>
>>59511855
another reason i want to go the best buy route is that i can pick it up in store. I live in a dodgy building in NYC and it can be difficult to get packages. Don't want to get like 10 different expensive things delivered.
>>
>>59511891

I can understand that. I also live in NYC (Staten Island). As a New Yorker, I recommend buying through NewEgg. They charge no additional taxes in New York (which results in significant savings), and most of their stuff ships for free. Also, and relevant to your concern, NewEgg ships via FedEx, offering to ship to your home or to a FedEx pickup location. Your stuff sits at the FedEx pickup location waiting for you to pick it up at your convenience.

As for that BestBuy pc, it's hard to give a proper assessment on it because so little is described specifically by BestBuy and the manufacturer. Look, you know one thing about it — you are overpaying for the pc because you are paying all of their overhead to assemble it for you. For your money, you would do far, far better to build it yourself. It really is a simple thing to do. It simply takes patience to read the manuals and about an hour to build it. I recommend watching "build your own pc" tutorial videos on youtube. It really is much easier than you think. But if you really are too uncomfortable with it, go ahead and buy a pre-made pc. My first pc was a pre-made and I eventually took it all apart and rebuilt it. Perhaps you will too.

ok cool. guess i shouldnt go the lazy route. I'll check out some videos. Thanks!

It basically means your hardware will force other parts of your build (usually the GPU) to run slower than intended because it is outputing too many instructions than the computer can keep up with it.

I would reccomend reading up about it/doing some research though.

With that CPU quite possibly. Granted, the 1080 is a 1440p/4k card anyways so if you are using it for 1080p I doubt it will bottleneck that hard. Don't quote me on that though. I would personally look into upgrading to a mid range GPU instead of a high tier one instead. You might be able to upgrade your mobo/CPU with the extra money you would've spent on a 1080 anyways.

You can find a 512GB SSD on craigslist for ~$150. A 512 GB isn't going to be THAT old, they've only been affordable for a year or 2.
>>
>>59513598
not that anon
Andromeda is pretty bad though...
>>
>>59513598
Get a RX 480 (though I would suggest waiting for the 500s for ayyymd) or the GTX 1060 for 1080p gaming, whichever is cheapest where you live. The difference between the two is really negligable. Or just get a 1070 if you don't mind paying a bit extra (around 400 burgerbux last I checked)

help pls
>>
>>59513659
1 - i already bought it
2 - got nothing else to play
3 - i'm hyped for it for too long and i can tolerate it's flaws

>>59513661
the GeForce GTX 1080 GAMING X i want to get is at a lower price - i can get it at around 628 $ (Romania)
>>
>>59513668
Got some edits for you.

>>59513604
But why? I'm just keeping Windows and a few common programs on it. Why get a used SSD?
>>
>>59513711
Are the rest of those models higher priced than the 1080 where you live? Because if so that's insane.

Should I get a z170 board with beefier VRM's or a modern z270 with lesser VRM's + more expensive. I don't see a benefit for extra PCI lanes to be honest, at least for me.
>>
>>59513819
yes - for example ASUS GeForce® GTX 1080 STRIX, 8GB GDDR5X, 256-bit is at 825 $ - just 1 example, tons more like it, some at higher prices
>>
>>59513848
I meant models like the RX 480 and the GTX 1060 or 1070.
>>
What's a good B350 motherboard right now? I haven't heard good things about them, which sort of making me regret impulse buying the 1700X.
>>
>>59513900
I've seen good things about the msi tomahawk
it doesn't have the level of memergb support as other boards though
currently only supports up to 2900 memory speeds on a few memory models but 2600 is probably what you will get until the bios gets better
a shame because you get massive performance boosts from higher clocked ram on ryzen in games

I need a new PSU lads. I bought a 650 watt EVGA power supply to go with my i5-6600K and R9 390.
It suddenly died and its not even sold directly by amazon anymore.
Recommendations?
>>
>>59513865
2 most expensive ones with no discount on them:

XFX Radeon™ RX 480 Dual Fan, 8GB GDDR5, 256-bit - 564 $

Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 Xtreme Gaming, 8GB GDDR5 - 625 $ - this one is only slightly cheaper than the discount 1080 i am getting

>>59513955
No warranty?

Somewhat irrelevant but was it a gold/bronze one?

Are you building a quadrocopter or something?
You only need 1 chasis fan on the back and one in PU to blow hot air out. And get rid of all the extra vents / holes on the roof / sides / back to make cool air flow only through the front.
>>
>>59513984
Just get the RX 480 then.

>And get rid of all the extra vents / holes on the roof / sides / back to make cool air flow only through the front.

Or just don't buy a case that has holes to have holes. Functional design is important.

It's like with top-mounted PSUs. Top-mounted PSUs only make sense if the PSU is upside down and venting through the top of the case. Yet these imbeciles keep making top-mounted PSU cases where they're designed to vent downward into the case with the plausible intent of having the back exhaust fan handle it. Heat rises. Heat fucking rises. It's one of the most basic fucking things.
>>
>>59514650
I like case designs where the psu is in its own little part so it's heat doesn't even come near the other parts
>>
>>59514650
Important note: If you ever have your PSU face upside, you need filtering to protect it from dust. It also makes it vulnerable from the top. There are select situations where a top-mount could work facing down, but given it totally fucks up the balance of the case I think it's more a liability.

Does anyone here have any experience with Corsair's SF600 SFX PSU? I'm planning a Powermac G5 casemod/build which needs an SFX unit, since I don't really feel like taking the PSU casing off.
>>
>>59516297

I own one.
>>
>>59516336
What's the rest of your build? I'm mainly concerned about noise here since I know it'll do 600W continuous, but my current setup can draw up to like 550W and I'd like it to stay quiet at least the majority of the time.
>>
I just cannot find a case without fatal flaws. Fuck.
>>
>>59516441
What are the fatal flaws of Fractal cases exactly?
>>
I'm Just Wait™ing for the R3 1200X to come out to build my first gaming computer.

I'd like to maybe buy some parts now if they're on sale, and have a few questions to confirm my own suspicions

First, would it be smart to buy the CORSAIR CX-M Series CX550M while it has the $20 rebate, or will there be better options between now and the R3?

Second, any idea when the RAM prices will drop?

Third, do you expect the Wraith that will come with the 1200X to fit in the typical mATX case? I'm thinking the Fractal Core 1000/1100.

Fourth, Speaking of which, is there any reason to get the 1000 over the 1100, or vice versa?

Thanks.
>>
>>59493373
I bought a Zotac gtx 980... it runs like shit. My friend got a very similar build to mine, except get got a MSI 970, and it outperforms mine....
>>
>>59516491
The monolithic face on a case, no matter what anyone tells you, will always bite you in the ass. Because that's where your HDDs are. No ventilation is bad juju.
>>
>>59514306
>air cooling
>in a corsair 700D
>>
>>59516523
But all their gets out from behind, there are 2 fans behind the face blowing air out towards the bottom of the case. There is no need for holes there.
>>
>>59516504
Make that the Fractal Core 1000/1100/1500 since they're all the about same price.
>>
>>59516698
The 1500 looks like it has a much nicer interior to work with. 1000 and 1100 seem to use the same interior frame with the only difference between the two cases being the front panel.
>>
>>59516724
Yeah, it seemed like the higher end one, so might as well pay the extra couple dollars since they're about the same price.

Care to look at my earlier questions?
>>
>>59516738
Nevermind, PCPart Picker was lying to me. SuperBiiz just has insane shipping. Guess it's between the 1000 and 1100 then.
>>
>>59516738
I know the old Corsair CX PSUs were pretty shit, so I don't completely trust anything with the CX branding. CS, HX, RM series seem to be good though, as is pretty much anything from Seasonic or Super Flower. EVGA normally rebrands Super Flower units so they're usually good too.

As for RAM prices, no one really knows. Whenever manufacturers start cranking up their production again.

And I've yet to see a stock cooler that doesn't fit in a standard mid-tower case. Even the big first-gen Wraith cooler will have no trouble fitting in a Core 1000/1100/1500.
>>
>>59516866
Cool, thanks. AMD is making me wait but I want to get started already!
>>
>>59516866
My TX 650 is still ticking after 9 years.

Do they even make that one anymore?
>>
>>59516996
Haven't seen the TX branding around in some time now. Got good reviews back in the day though.

I just know CX a shit.
