Am I the only one who things that Windows 8 had better looking window borders than what Windows 10 currently has?

Does anyone know, how I can make Windows 10 look like Windows 8, in terms of borders?

No. Windows 8 is not only uglier than 10, it's also got less functionality.

Windows Explorer removed status bar which displayed space available on current disk because it gave people anxiety. I kid you not.

In anticipation of debian stretch release in a few months. I'm shopping for a new DE.
I've been out of touch with current DE state. Is gnome3 still an unusable mess designed for tablets?
Is KDE plasma still a hot piece of crashing shit?
LXQt still not stable?
Has mate improved at all or are they still stuck with the gnome2 era of feature set?
How's cinnamon?
Is Xfce4 still the only usable DE 3 years later since jessie's release?

I'll still be using it for sure. I've just become too accustomed to it.

>Is gnome3 still an unusable mess designed for tablets?
It's worse. They are pushing GNOME+Wayland now which has a noticeable performance drop across the board and many programs still choke on it.

>Is KDE plasma still a hot piece of crashing shit?
Most shit got fixed, some wrinkles still remain. Use the 5.8 LTS version or newer, though.

>LXQt still not stable?
I'm using that now. It's stable as in "it hasn't crashed yet", but it's rough around the edges and has basically zero polish. It should be fine in a year or two.

>Has mate improved at all or are they still stuck with the gnome2 era of feature set?
It's decent. I haven't used Gnome 2 much so I can't compare.

>How's cinnamon?
Never used it much.

>Is Xfce4 still the only usable DE 3 years later since jessie's release?
It's the best thing since sliced bread. Just get a good compositor like compton because the built-in one is shit.

Does anyone know the name of that small, folding computer with the QWERTY keypad and the analog nubs? It's a small project in the UK. I'm trying to remember the name of it, and without that I can't seem to get it to come up in a search.

Pic is the closest thing I could find of it. Please help!

If you're talking about the OpenPandora, that was actually located in Germany and the only project member from the UK was a jew named Craig.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
>>
>>59572790
It's called Linux+GNU. Get with the times, Stallman.

Bad news! Germoney wants to regular XMPP software: https://www.golem.de/news/meldepflicht-bundesnetzagentur-will-hundert-jabber-clients-regulieren-1703-126929.html

That's more than most Chromebooks. A cheap Celeron based touch Chromebook is at least $300.

How bad is the battery life?

Which is the superior one and why is it slash?

I prefer backslash because it is like a line starting high going lower which is like going from the higher dir to a lower one.

The big downside it is in an awkward place on a keyboard.
>>
>>59571924
Good point actually. But still, slash is better because \ is for escapes.
>>
>>59571924
You could easily view the directory tree as going upwards instead of down, though.

Has anyone ever gotten the rpi 3 to be able to torrent, without the torrent stalling then restarting every 10 seconds?

I've tried
-different distros
-different torrent clients
-overclocking

Now the problem seems to be the rpi is a weak piece of hardware which just nopes out if you try to do anything other than nothing.

On qBittorrent I actually could fix the stalling issue by disabling "use OS cache" which however drops CPU usage from 30 to 3% and the download speed doesn't exceed 0.2-0.3 MB/s.

Enabling this allows the speed to shoot up again - that is until it stalls and crashes 5 seconds later and doesn it over again.

I hava started capturing packets to check traffic in my Galaxy 4 phone but some data going to google servers is encrypted with TLSv1. Is there some way to check whats inside?

Also do you have any knowledge what android phones usually send to google? I have noticed some packets sent to port 5228 to some "mtalk" servers. I have found that

>Port 5228 is used by the Google Playstore (Android market). Google talk also uses ports 443, 5222 and 5228. Google Chrome user settings sync (facorites, history, passwords) uses port 5228.

So it's either playstore or chrome but I want to know more. What's exactly inside?

There is also some traffic going to Samsung servers - my phone downloaded

http://svc-cf.spd.samsungdm.com/GT-I9515/XEO/version.xml
http://countries.epg.samsung.peel.com/countries/all
and sent POST messages to
devices.peel.com (only thing inside is some long userid)
pl-odc.samsungapps.com/ods.as (xml with some data about my phone)

What's this all about? Are there some sites/communites dedicated to keeping track of data sent/received from our machines to corporate servers?
