>Carl Sagan sued Apple Computer in 1995. Apple used 'Carl Sagan' as an internal code for the Power Macintosh 7100. After a cease-and-desist letter, Apple renamed it 'BHA', for Butt Head Astronomer. Sagan sued. Apple then changed the name to "LAW", short for "Lawyers are Wimps".
Why was he such a fag? the code was obviously made by one of his fans

Based space man, at least he tried. Tim Cuck will be the one driving Applel to the ground, though.

he tried what? being a butthurt asshole?
>>59571161
what a faggot lmao. He used Neil DeGrasse Tyson as his buttboy.
>pic related is le black science man in his early years
>Sagan invited the 17-year-old to spend a day in Ithaca. Sagan had offered to put him up for the night if his bus back to the Bronx did not come

It's actually quite nice tbqh. I was skeptical too until I actually got to use one.
Is the Fire HD 8 tablet worth buying for the 90$ price tag? My Kindle broke and I am looking for a tablet to use for reading and general usage. The alternative was the Nvidia Shield K1, but I thought that I would like a device with good battery life and decent performance. The Fire tablet seems like a good fit.
What do you guys think? Is it possible to install a custom ROM instead of the Amazon one? Any recommendations?
>>59571004
I have a shield K1. It's pretty exceptional all around. Battery life is uh, yeah, it's "portable" sure, but with screen and wifi on it's literally like two hours full charge.
Does run everything emulate able pretty damn well though and the screen is 10/10.
>>59571659
Also some of the Shield only stuff is pretty neat, like the fakewacom app.
>>59571672
Damn, the battery life is my main concern for it, since I do want to keep it without the need of a charge for as long as possible.
Is it still possible to optimize the Shield tablet so that it at least manages to stay a couple of days without a charge? I've heard that you can control to clock speed of the CPU, and I imagine that would help keep it running longer.
Shit like this makes me lose faith in Apple and forces me to hate everything.

After using Linux for years and years I finally have to use a Windows computer again for college. Sadly they're making us use proprietary software that doesn't really work well with Wine.
Anyhow, is there a WM for Windows (or any other software) that would replicate something like i3wm or awesomeWM on Windows? If not, a different way I could get the same functionality? For instance, mod+shift+q is way more comfortable and makes more sense than alt+f4 to kill a focused Window. I have thought about setting up autohotkey to run similar commands/keybinds but it won't be the same and it'll probably interfere with already present shortcuts & keybinds on Windows. If AHK DOES work, I guess i could configure to use Windows 10's window snapping & other features to somehow replicate the WM, but i'd like to know if that would even work.Any help appreciated.
Why not keep using loonix and I just running botnetOS™©® in a VM?

Won't cut it, unless I upgraded my hardware.

all memes aside, this is the best linux distro ever.
why even use arch instead of manjaro?
manjaro uses stable pre-release versions of arch and tweaks in a right way. even if you don't want that way you can tweak the way you want after installing manjaro. also always uses stable versions of everything unlike cutting edge arch linux.
installer is extremely light and saves you from A LOT of time.
why aren't you using manjaro yet?
Because i'm not a faggot
>>59570517
>why aren't you using manjaro yet?
>also always uses stable versions of everything unlike cutting edge arch linux.
because my system is already installed and customized to my preferences
and arch is plenty stable, been using it since 2012 with hardly any problems
that and i like trying out new things as soon as they become available (or sometimes even sooner, i opt for development versions of some things)
How many charge cycles would it take before a lithium polymer battery to degrade?
>>59570431
Depending on the make, ~500ish.
Battery type: lithium polymer battery
Voltage: 3.8 V. Capacity is 6000mAh
The size:9.8*6.2*0.5 (cm)
depends on loads and temperature
it's always degrading, so there's no definitive answer
for a definitive (still approximate, since no two cells are indentical) answer, you'd need to also specify the load you're applying, the temperature it'll be at, and at what remaining capacity counts as "degraded"
Is Chrome really a botnet or is that just a meme? If it is, is there a way to protect yourself from botnet?
Yes. No.
>>59570147
Google tracks you.
Google is part of PRISM.
Install Firefox or Icecat.
>>59570147
look the word botnets gets thrown around like crazy here because people have no life and hate for no reason
chrome is the best browser in the world and there is no reason to use it.
Botnet in a google sense means that google collects data to target you with ads but since oyu are an adblock user anyway its wasted time for advertisers cause you won't see their ads anyway lmao.
Google can use the data for internal purposes to show you search results you like, suggest youtube videos. Its to your own convinience.
Because lets be real here nobody cares about what the fuck you do. You aren't important. You are a fucking nobody. 1 in a few billion.
If you care that much that google knows you post on 4chan you seem to suffer from paranoia.
All right, bunch of tech-hating tossers, tell me why I shouldn't be buying this Gigabyte Aero 14.
Specs:
i7-7700HQ, GTX 1060, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD 14'' 1440p IPS screen, big battery (94.24 kWh, about 6-10 hours of use), slim and light (less than 2 kg / 4.17 lbs).
More info: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834233191
Well, /g/, why shouldn't I? It has all I need: it's easy to carry around, new i7 CPU, decent GPU, good screen and good battery life.
Discuss.
Or not...
>>59570076
Because Ryzen uses less power and laptops soon faggot

Intel has more power per core, though. And I use outdated software that can only use a few cores, so I need that power.
Anything else?
Hey /g/,
I'm an Arch Linux user but for school purposes I had to install Windows. I could choose between 7 and 10, I chose seven 7 and I need your help.
What are the most important tweaks and rices I can't miss? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Hey /g/.
Why is ExpressJS more popular than ROR?
Coding a web application with ROR take few hours, coding a website with express take few days.
Why ?
Node.js and asynchronous programming are the reasons, friend.
>>59569819
Well you're right. Express is way more flexible and surely way faster for big operations, but I don't understand why ror loosed so much popularity last years
>>59569875
Web frameworks in other languages copied the ideas of RoR, which meant that people did not have to learn ruby, to use RoR. Besides RoR, ruby has nothing else to offer, so as the popularity of language stalled / declined, the framework was ignored as well.

Why have you not joined the 8K master race, /g/?
>games at 8k
>movies at 8k
>productivity in 8k
It's 5-7 years too early
>>59569804
Wrong, Nvidia is already 8K ready with 8K HEVC Main10/Main12 hardware decoding & 8K VP9 hardware decoding & DisplayPort 1.4 support
this is only worth it if you actually use your pc for work, mainly video/audio/graphic editing or maybe coding. there is literally no content for 8K yet. and quite frankly i think 1440p is more than enough. if you run out of space, just get another monitor or two. no need to spend 5k on a single screen at a resolution that would make even high end gpus struggle.

Teslas are on the market and a lot of them are fully functional and can drive themselves
The only issue is legislation so Tesla has to wait until it can push the software update to the cars that'll turn them into full level 5 autonomous cars
Just too much legal shit involved with these things
Ok /g/, lets settle this this age old question for the coming generations:
Do you run Windows as your main OS and run Linux in a VM for actual work, or do you run Linux as your daily driver and run Windows in a VM for muh gaymen?
