So has anyone here got this set-up?

Linux host, windows virtual machine, with a GPU passed through, so that you can play games on the windows PC, while taking full advantage of the Linux host.

I'm looking at building a system that supports it.

You need two GPUs and two screens (unless you switch input each time you want to check messages.

Honestly, its not worth it. You end up using applications in Windows when they have better UIs. Then you might as well use a Linux VM.
>>
I have heard others thinking and desiring this same setup.
>>60888843
The idea is you still have access to Windows 10 and be up-to-date for the purposes of games and other programs that are Windows dependent; like Adobe. Then use Linux and Linux-based web browsers and such. Hope is doing so subverts Microsoft's telemetry and data-collection.

Advanced users of GNU/Linux (and I mean advanced), remember to try Source Mage GNU/Linux. True source-based distribution, and (in contrast with Gentoo and Arch) is:
Free from obfuscated and pre-configured code.
Fully committed to GPL, uses only free software (as in freedom) in their main package.
With even the documentation licensed as FDL.
Without 3rd party patches, sensible defaults or masked packages.
Doesn't need obfuscated python libraries, only bash.
Uses clean dependencies as they came from upstream developers, which by the same provides instant updates.
Can heal broken installs.
Can also use flags.

Do you like Arch Linux's AUR? Do you like Gentoo's portgage (or ports-like) package manager? With SMGL's "sorcery" you get all that. Making new spells (packages) not found in the grimoire (repository) is easy http://sourcemage.org/Spell/Book

Better than 7, 7 is overrated garbage hyped up by underage fags who grew up on 7 and don't know anything else
>>
>>60888287
THIS DESU
Windows Vista was insanely good, especially since it didn't have those shitty ass grouped Windows like 7+ do.

It goes like this:
1. XP
2. 10
3. Vista
4. 8.1
5. 7
>>
vista was shit on for a lot of reasons it deserved and a lot of reasons it didn't. microsoft brought vista on to itself in a sense.

>development cycle
basically codename longhorn tried to shove too much into a release to the point where it was a trainwreck. then marketing freaked out that there wasn't a new OS every 2-3 years and they rushed the redeveloped vista.

>driver support
they massively overhauled the display driver model as well as parts of general drivers but didn't enforce kernel patch protection or driver signing on 32-bit Vista editions. end result was device manufacturers pumped out dogshit drivers that made the OS unstable/slow

>minimum requirements
they had a much higher minimum requirement for vista before release before bowing to computer manufacturer pressure to make a "vista capable" tier where the laptops performed like shit versus XP. this included allowing integrated chipsets that should have never allowed aero to run the aero interface and running like dogshit accordingly.

win7 is basically windows vista SP3 but by the time 7 was released most installs were 64-bit (where driver signing and kernel patch protection were required) plus maturity on the patchbase of the major changes that had occurred roughly 3 years earlier. the "mojave experiment" commercials MS did towards the end of Vista lifespan were essentially accurate, but the bungled release is their own doing.

anyone who tells you vista was worse than windows ME is lying, delusional, or never actually used ME.

Almost everyone seems to believe that HTTPS Everywhere works by checking if a site is available over HTTPS and switching if it is. But that isn't what HTTPS Everywhere does at all. Instead HTTPS Everywhere only works for sites that are on this whitelist. For the longest time, you could only get on the list through an obscure mailing list (now they've got a git repository).

THE PROBLEM WITH HTTPS EVERYWHERE

Johnny assumes HTTPS Everywhere automatically switches sites to HTTPS when available. So when he hits a login over HTTP he shrugs and says "I guess they don't have HTTPS" and fills in the login anyway.

Johnny realizes that more and more, with HTTPS Everywhere installed he doesn't need to worry about the lock icon in the URL bar. After all, if HTTPS is available HTTPS Everywhere will automatically switch him over, and if it isn't, there is nothing he can do about it anyway.

Johnny isn't aware that HTTPS Everywhere is automatically sending a fingerprint of every HTTPS site he visits to HTTPS Observatory (allowing them to track his browsing if they wanted).

HTTPS Everywhere made a lot of sense in the days of Firesheep when it was created. Now its benefits are very questionable. Are webmasters really going to jump through hoops to make a ruleset for HTTPS Everywhere, when it's probably easier for them to make their site HTTPS default (and use HSTS/HPKP etc) which help everyone (not just users of a specific addon).

Anyway I've got serious concerns about whether HTTPS Everywhere is actually helpful today (especially without a disclaimer explaining what it does). BUT for a privacy focused site, the default behaviour with HTTPS Observatory should be a definite no go.

What are your thoughts?

>"the Sinn is a better Navitimer than the modern-day Breitling"

or

>"the Sinn is a cheap homage to the Breitling Navitimer"

Keep the following in mind:
- Breitling went bust a few times and is no longer the same company
- Sinn is more true to the original sizing and tool watch philosophy of the watch than the Breitling
- Sinn actually did buy the rights to the Navitimer in the late 70s when the original Breitling, so it's in a sense a more legitimate heir and successor than modern-day Breitling

Is the w530 a good choice?

Is there a way to get a better color calibration at t420 screen? I just put it side-by-side with a lower 1360x768 screen (The t420 got a 1600x900 one) both running the full hd video of the new spider-man game.

Even with a better resolution, the t420 is just destroyed. The vibrant colors in this acer notebook allow me to see much more detail, even in a lower res.

Is there anything to make this better? Right now it's kinda obnoxious.
>>
>>60887630
yes, if you can live with such gigantic screen and it's weight
>>60887643
AFAIK no. You can disable PWM to make it a little better, but it has nothing to do with colors.
