What should I do?

>tfw I may be the last person to ever see this animal alive
feels good lads

What bird? Post pics.
>>2328412
>find bird thought to be extinct
>don't take pictures
>don't get credit for rediscovery
>don't get name in birb books and wikipedia articles
>post on 4chan instead
ok. it was probably just a blue jay and your dumb or something

I didn't have a camera on me since I go hiking around here all the time (so I don't expect anyone to believe me), but it looked exactly like pic related.
I go hiking all the time so when I saw the bird I was curious since I'd never seen anything like it, and there's really only a handful of birds you see.
Came home and went through a list of all NZ birds and I'm 99.99% sure it was this, pic related (called the piopio)
my favorite animal is Meles meles

cute skunk OP
>scared of insects/arthropods not because they could hurt me, but because I could hurt them
Anyone else like this?
Yeah, I know what you mean, man. I'm the same way.
Do you think insects should have rights?
Why do you SJW's force your opinions

>ask opinions
>why do you force your opinions SJW boogeyman?
/pol/
No. Insects are for eating you dumb vegan spider.
Is my cactus dead? The top of it is shwishy and the needles soft while the rest of them are hard and sharp. I did some looking as found that this type of cactus is supposed to have golden-ish spines, but I'm not sure if it's still growing or not.
Pic related, it's my cactus. (Colorcup cactus, Mammillarin Pilcayensis)
it looks like its growing to me
>>2328178
It's growing, the spines turn golden as it ages. Maybe put it somewhere with more sunlight though, it's growing kinda weirdly.
>>2328178
It's definitely not dead, but it's not doing too hot. A couple of thoughts:
Is it in the right medium? It's important to have soil that's something like 50/50 sand/soil mix or something similar that drains really well. This is important because you should be watering it every two weeks during winter and every week for the rest of the year. I give mine 1/4 cup and it's 2" tall, you'll need to adjust a little bit since yours looks taller. Underwatering would certainly cause it to be droopy at the top - able to be bent, if that's what you mean.
Spines not forming properly could be a variety of things, but it probably is either insufficient light or insufficient fertilizer. Since it looks like you got it recently it probably is the light. So all things considered, working just off of this picture, my recommendation would be to re-pot it into a cactus soil mix and move it to an area with more light.
I'm not an expert, these are just my thoughts from taking care of mine for the past year.
Why do turkeys circle a dead cat
>>2328055
turkeys are literally retarded and just follow the one in front of them while being fixated on the cat
>>2328055
I knew they were demonic.
>>2328057
they want you to underestimate them fool
What tricks does your doggo know? How did you go about teaching them?
I've been thinking of teaching my dog to smile/snarl/show teeth on command but not sure how to go about it. There are no good tutorial videos on how to teach it unless your dog already does it while playing. I was thinking maybe put something bitter on her tongue and hope she makes a face but I'm not sure if that will work since she will eat literally anything.
I've been thinking about volunteering at the shelter to give the dogs basic obedience skills. Maybe it will help some dogs find homes.
Though how do people get into professional dog training? It looks to be a very competitive field. The last puppy school I went to, the trainer would badmouth other local trainers every chance she got just because they don't allow choke chains or slip leads in their classes.

Most of my tricks started with me puppeting his body and him starting doing the action on his own in anticipation. Try literally pulling up his jowls over and over and giving treat.
A nudibranch, no idea about the species though
Dirona albolineata maybe
For last few months neighbour's wife is always in our house partying, singing and drinking
Every time our friends go there to pick her up, her husband doesn't even bother coming to the door say hello.
When she began sleeping over the husband began treating her coldly... and she can't stand being treated like that so she's been here for 2 weeks already and the guy has no idea where she is cause she asked us not to tell him.
Yesterday I open the door and found my neighbour's dog dead right outside our door.
What does it mean?
>>2327967
If this is real then I would call the police ASAP. That kind of behavior is obviously not normal and is very sick.
The husband many have a mental disorder. He could have antisocial personality disorder/schizo disorser (can be extremely dangerous), or even a form of schizophrenia.

Do you know who killed the dog?

Do you think its possible for animals to achieve enlightenment or higher forms of consciousness?
>>2327853
not until they grow hands
enlightenment is magic, so sure, why not.
they can't even ask a question so, of course not
how are your pet dinos doing /an/?
My my velociraptor is acting sluggish and pulling out its feathers? should I change its feed or walk it more, she got dusted for mites and ticks only a few weeks ago so its not that.
>>2327509
wow what a super funny and original play pretend thread haha
guess I'll act like dinosaurs aren't extinct and kept as pets now lol
Shitty raptor owners give raptors a bad name.

I shiggy diggy.
Are they any polyandrous species that live in groups/have some form of hierarchy?
>>2327306
I don't know of any animals that live in stable polyandry, but chimpanzees are unfaithful slots that breed with every male in the troop.
>>2327306
polyandry is not a great strategy unless a female had an insanely short gestation period and even then polygyny would make more sense because one male can knock up a bunch of females whereas a female can only get knocked up by as many males as there are eggs she releases in a single cycle, and even that would result in intrasexual competition among the males (like knotting in dogs to prevent other dude dogs from getting their genes in the litter)
so in short...polyandry is a rare sight in the animal kingdom and the result is fierce competition, and hierarchies imply some level of cohesion or cooperation...sounds impossible from where i'm standing for what you are describing to exist
What is some interesting knowledge you know about a particular animal?
Is there any particular animal you find especially interesting? Why?
i've always been fascinated by rabbits
they're not my favorite animal (dogs are) but i've kept them for years and i always tell people they're the closest thing you can get to a tiny house horse, to varying degrees of skepticism
i took my rabbit to a new vet recently and he confirmed my assertion
rabbits are, in fact, tiny house horses

You may find this post interesting: http://darrennaish.blogspot.com/2006/05/most-freaky-of-all-mammals-rabbits.html
How did he confirm that they are horse-like?
>>2327302
that's a cool read. i love any literature about ubiquitous, human enhanced animals
obviously rabbits and horses are quite different physiologically- but their diet, husbandry and behavior are amazingly similar.
in the context of my vet visit, for a weird buggy eye problem, he told me to stop feeding her anything other than cheap cow hay (not even timothy hay) and the reason was basically because way back when some farmers in the midwest? usa figured they had the best hay in the world so they would package it into pellet form to sell all over the continent. horses started getting sick and dying from eating it and it was because it was over processed to the point it would equivalent to humans eating baby food all the time. he figured the same sort of thing is happening to rabbits (eating pellets and processed hay) and so far he's been right, her health problems have all but gone away now that she's eating just super cheap local hay. he could have ordered all sorts of expensive tests and procedures but he just extrapolated from his horse knowledge, which really made me giddy
also, pigeons are one of the smartest animals on the planet
