last night he started having genuine thoughts about potential methods of killing himself, and wrote and sent out notes thanking all of his friends (perhaps like parting words I guess), but specifically left me out because he thought it would worry me (and probably that I'd do something to stop him). Later on in the night he had some kind of emotional outburst and punched up a door making his knuckles go all bloody - it's hardly a suicide attempt but it does mean his thoughts are now overwhelming enough to cross over into the physical.

He called me this morning (ausfag time) and told me all of this. His family are well aware of it at this point (they physically restrained him last night) and he's spending the day with them. I'm thinking I should contact his sister to have a secondary line of contact into what's going on, especially if he's getting to the point where he's considering not telling me things so I can't stop him

I also live 1.5 hours away so it's not easy or quick for me to get to him in person. I've suggested him coming over tomorrow because it's been a week since I was last able to see him in person and hug him, but it's occurred to me that perhaps that could stress his family out if he stayed overnight somewhere else while he's like this.
