okay, say for instance i want to be a pirate. so i spend a year working out to get stronger muscles, practicing my aim with my flintlock gun to shoot swashbucklers,practicing my swordplay so that i can cut up privateers,and gradually gaining ca$h so that i can by my first ship. what would be the word to use when i'm halfway through the year and i see some serious muscles forming but i still have so work to do, my gun aiming has gotten better but still needs practice, my swordplay can slice up novices but i can't go pro and i only have half the $ i need to buy my ship, i see all of this manifesting and and i feel good knowing that i'm closing in on my goal but i still feel like i have work to do. fulfilling is technically right but it sounds to ''weak''. kind of like how there is a scale of being mad like; level1=annoyed_level2=angry_level3=furious_level4=livid

does this make any sense?

Do you really, absolutely, positively have to upgrade now or can you wait? The next gen is just around the corner and it's looking good. While you can, say, get a GTX 950 now, it'll be a total fucking waste in 2-3 months when you could get a GTX 1050 or RX 470. It really depends on how future proof you want your rig to be -- you never know when the next Dark Souls 3 comes along that you'd want to play if it wasn't for your card. Spending, say, $180 now on a new gen card rather than $150 on a discounted previous gen could make a big difference in longevity.

Anything from a GTX 950 upwards should be good enough for DS3, and the GTX 970 in particular is still going to be good for a long while on other games. It's not worth buying now, but you could keep your eyes open for good deals; there might be some at the last minute as stocks get cleared out. That said, it's very possible the newer cards are going to be such good value for money that you don't need to bother. The previous AMD generation isn't really worth bothering with even at a discount -- the newer AMD cards are better value for money all around.

For now my advice is to wait and see. By the time September rolls around you're going to have some really good options, at better prices than now.

I wouldn't buy any netbook or anything else with an Atom processor. I have a similar netbook that I bought used for cheap a few years ago and it didn't take me long to put it on the shelf and never use it again. Not worth it.

I had a netbook with an Atom and for studying in high school it was perfectly fine, the keyboard got fucked up after couple of years and could not find a replacement.

Really my only concern is battery life.

Agree with you on battery life though, especially buying a used laptop/netbook, expect the battery to not be able to hold a long charge. Ebay replacement batteries can be a gamble as well, not to mention that would be an additional cost if your trying to go real cheap because of financial reasons.
