The video about the Battle Tree shows Cynthia (and Wally) like a regular old character coming back and then

I get that they're very popular and its the annivesary but the Kanto pandering is way too annoying
Cynthia is one of the most popular and recognizable trainers in Pokemon history. To make her look like she's below their level is stupid. Not to mention her team shits on Red and Blue's (Pikachu? PIdgeot? Come on...)
There's so much more iconic characters than just Kanto ones. At least BW2 was fair in treating them all the same

What made it work in HGSS was the fact all Pokemon were portrayed as tiny, "chibi" sprites. Now that Pokemon are mostly to scale in battle and such, you wouldn't be able to have Wailord or Alolan Exeggcutor follow you, they're too big.
