Jellicent was a pure water type that the added ghost-typing to late in development because gamefreak couldn't be bothered to design more ghost-types, just like how when they realized they needed more fish mons, they just made basculin and recolored it to make it do double duty

Im assuming we can expect those three in Battle Tree aswell as people like Lance and Alder but do you think people from region that had few champions can appear? So in this instance Wallace and Iris?
Also rivals. We have generation where there's just one like Blue, Silver or Barry but there are also ones with few rivals. Unova had N, Cheren, Bianca and Hugh. What about them?
I dont count Shauna, Tierno and Trevor because despite popular belief they arent rivals: only Serena/Calem call us their rival. The other three are just friends/companions who very rarely battle us.
Thoughts?

A lot of water starters have weird mid evos.
Prinplup, Marshtomp, Croconaw.
Brionne is fine as a mid stage, you can see it turning into Primarina and evolving from Popplio, it's almost a perfect fit. Croconaw introduces a theme and drops it completely, and Prinplup and Marshtomp are just ugly compared to their other stages
