What about being able to shoot the monster(s) but they react to being shot in ways such as the one in the trailer recoiling for a few moments before it runs in a rampage while letting out bloodcurdling screams and raking/smashing the shit out of the scenery. The pause lets you get away and hide but if you take too long to get somewhere safe then you're run down like a cavalry unit runs down basic footmen in Mountain Blade.
Only thing is that makes me think of Isolation when you use the flamethrower on the ayylmao but there needs to be something mechanically different they bring for freshness from all of the other run and hide games around.
