Even though I hate the modern trend of """remastering"" everything I wish they would remaster Far Cry 2. I play through that game whenever I smoked spice and became extremely immersed. It really felt like I was a mercenary fighting for my life in Africa. Having my gun jam in the middle of a firefight or hearing a car speeding to run over me really amplified that. I seriously love it. Even though most of the game is copy pasted I still come back to enjoy it. I'm currently writing a document on how the game managed to do things right, the things it did wrong, and the ways to fix the bad things and improve/add to the other things. Once I reach a few hundred more pages I'll probably post it here. /blog

It gets really repetitive really quickly and devolves into following map markers to outposts and towers. The last half of the game was such a slog the only reason I finished it was because I really liked the story. I ended up just rushing through the story half way through the second island because It got so dreadfully repetitive.

Its not a bad game by any means but its far from perfect.

I am genuinely interested in reading this.

Far Cry 2 is still one of my favorite games despite the things that hold it back.

From the UI being part of the game world, the more desperate gun play, and the exploration actually being meaningful (diamonds actually meant something) it had so much going for it to make a cohesive and challenging game world.

Funny enough I am finding Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 to be closer to a step in FC2's direction, even if it clearly has too much of a FC3/4 influence.

Far cry died for me a while ago

Far Cry 1 is an artificial difficulty: the game
Far cry 2 is more like far drive 2, pretty boring game with some potential.
Far Cry 3 is not bad but the story is rushed, too casualized and the gameplay is overloaded with useless features like crafting and those fucking towers.
Far Cry 4 is just a reskin of a previous games with a little bit better graphics.
Far Cry primal is Far Cry 4 but barebones. The setting is innovative, but that's all there is to it.

Other than occasionally busted climbing mechanics, and enemies knowing exactly where you are when they see your drone, I'd say it's worth the 40 bucks I got it for.

I recently replayed the game with a mod that lets enemies have shitty versions of any of the guns right off the bat, as well as lowering the health of everyone, including you, by about 40%. It was really good. I recommend it, but can't for my malaria ridden life remember what it was called. It made other changes as well... It's probably one of the most popular FC2 mods.

dylans mod, thats my 2nd and 3rd playthrough. I dont think I ever read the popups about map icons so I never did anything but the main missions for two whole playthroughs. On hindsight, that was really stupid.

Far Cry 5 is to be set in modern day Montana where you play a cop hunting down a gang.
