It's a good game, but the HUD is a bit small on the 3ds and the screen doesn't do the detail and size of the game justice. Emulating it is ideal, but if the 3ds port is your only way to play it you won't be disappointed.

Combat is completely detached from a turn-based RPG. It is like a single player MMO - characters attack on their own and abilities are on a cooldown. Depending on who you ask it either feels like your decisions don't actually matter or it is a godsend from using menus to kill thrash mobs.

Well, we're getting Xenoblade 2 for it, so that's already guaranteed. I seriously doubt we're getting a Switch release tho. It's on Wii U eshop, 3DS, and Wii. I don't see them doing this a fourth time.

Yeah Xenoblade is top-notch, probably one of the greatest RPGs I've ever played. Just do yourself a favor and don't do too many sidequests, they have a tendency to overlevel you if you go crazy with them.

The main content becomes trivial, the side content is still pretty hard because even if you do all the sidequests, some of the unique enemies still have 10+ levels on you.

I really regret getting the n3DS port.
Do yourself a favor and get the Wii version. I enjoy the game, but the experience was honestly ruined on the platform.

The drop in graphical quality is irrelevant compared to the increase in enjoyability on the go. I can understand the "only Dolphin on an HDTV" argument but unless you're a hardcore aesthete the game is only made better on the 3DS.

It was mostly because of the bottom screen being next to useless in the port.
60% of the screen is negative space. The map and its area radius is way too small, and there is no way to adjust the size of it.
The visuals are fine, but every time I see gameplay on the Wii I envy having the map right there on the screen nice and large (the area radius is just as small though).

To be fair, the other complaints I have are about the game more than the 3DS port. I wish there was an easier way to increase movement speed, especially when swimming. Mapping Eryth Sea is a fucking journey.
Having the game on the go is great, though I still wish I saved $20 and got it on the original platform.

I've beaten Wii Version (put about 120 hours in) and have recently got 3DS version (have like 11 hours)
It's my favorite game ever and regardless of platform its worth it
