Anyone here ever try to do stand up? How did it go?
27 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Tried it in 2010 at an OMN. Got booed off the stage during my first joke. I didn't even get to finish it. This was in San Francisco. It wasn't even a bad joke. It was about how certain cultures have no true human feelings and eat dogs. I didn't even specify.
>>
non ironic forms of stand up is a truly inferior version of comedy

I understand that it is very difficult but I don't understand why some people think it's the pinnacle of comedy. Especially when hacks like Rogan are famous for it.

Some stand up is ok though.

Hey guys thanks for comin out... the stains in my underwear are making my wife suspicious!

*silence*

uh.... so you guys ever be driving and some ni...uhhhh some black people drive up next to you and their bass is turned real high? Doesn't it feel like you're inside a whale's heart? How do they even converse with each other? What if one of them has to pee?

(I didn't mean to say niggers but it almost slipped out, and the rest of my jokes which were supposed to be funny racist came out as racist racist. Never again.)

fucked up movie

can't think of any recs at the moment sorry
>>
>>80785680
I liked it a lot. It was a little titling because the anon who originally recommended it to me said it was a horror movie, so I went in with that expectation. There were weird moments but it never goes full horror. Just a straight forward rescue movie, extremely well executed and pretty realistic fighting in it. I like the fact that it didn't go Rambo mode in the end and kept itself grounded.

I have to laugh every time I see somebody criticizing great movies made for us normal people who actually leave our house to interact with other normal people. Fuck these autist cunts in their fedora-wearing asses. It's like some unwritten rule in their pathetic notebook that they have to be miserable at everything, that the world is "shit" and everything they hear or see is "shit" and the agenda of everyone is "shit".

We get it. We watched that South Park episode, too. You have Asperger's Syndrome. Now drink some whisky, lighten the fuck up and seek help for it. You're not the only one in that boat, bucko.

WE rule this board, now. WE decide who's cool and who's not. You rock spiders clinging to the 4chan of the past? The ones that yearn for Bela Tarr marathons while you lick Dorito crumbs off of your fingers and weep for "being born in the wrong generation"? You're archaic. You're ancient fucking history. You've been left behind.

Come out of your basement, you cave-dwellers. Come and celebrate the new millennium by watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with the rest of us. It's the present year and we have cake. Even though it's a lie.

What do you think about this Olivia Cooke interview, /tv/? Is she /ourgirl/?

>If you could offer one piece of advice to young women to help them build confidence, what would it be?

>“I’d say stop waxing your pubes off. We have hair down there for a reason. It’s sexy. You wouldn’t want your mum to be completely shaven down there. It’s weird; it looks like an elephant’s trunk. Stop waxing every square inch of your body, just embrace it. Down there, where only you and your partner sees it, who gives a shit, really? And if he doesn’t like it, get rid of him — because it says more about him than it does about you.”

I avoided watching this for some reason but I just did, it was actually pretty good. As much as I would like to have seen the more 'philosophical' plot points expanded upon, I feel that it would have sapped the poignancy of the ending.

Also side note: We see that she writes a book about the language, but I gather she doesn't mention her 'gift' and what the fuck about the whole 'We'll need your help in 3000 years" that definitely needed some explaining.

Also more side note: Isn't it full understanding of the language that gives this 'gift', not necessarily being touched by their ink like she was?

Bls discuss. We need a pseudo-intellectual circle jerk in here.
>>
>>80785201
imo the beginning of the movie was just her remembering currently what had happened in the past, her daughter hadn't happened until after the events of the movie, shes basically a skilled linguist that went there and got the gift of thinking and seeing things through the past current and future all at the same time, chinese man heard his wifes dying words which may have not happened until chronologically later which in turn led him into helping her call off the attack... the husband that probably left was the mathematician, her talking about re-doing things even if you knew it ended badly makes me feel like there is no beginning or end to the movie, its just events that happened within a lifetime
>>
Comprehension of the language is what allows her to perceive time the way they do. So writing the book and teaching the language to others would allow them to think the same way.

>>80785715
You're overthinking it way too much.

The books did it better. Frodo decided on his own that he needs to leave and that the Ring is solely his burden to carry, he wasn't told by Aragorn to run. That being said, the scene at Amon Hen was great!

Serpico.

cop refuses to take bribes, everyone else in the department hates him because he's making them look bad.

he goes on a raid, forces open a door on a room full of armed drug dealers, they close the door on his arm. he's begging the other cops to come and help him...

.. they give him this shitful wary look and start backing off, leaving him to get shot in the face by the drug dealers. just before they shoot him you see him understand what's happening.

this is one of the reasons i respect the power of the police but i will never trust any of them. that, and the film "Red Ball".
