Has anyone here seen this and, if so, what are your thoughts?

It's a good film, great even, but I disagree with the notion that it's the best of the trilogy. I feel it takes on so much that some things like he gamera graveyard and asakura and kurata's whole cult thing feel unresolved and underdeveloped
I prefer 1 and 2, but it's not bad at all. I get that the point of this is that "we are supposed to believe he'll win" and that's the resolve but I would've liked to seen a true finale fight
Also Nagamine is fucking hot

The cult thing could have been dropped and the romantic subplot probably should have been cut too. A fair amount of time is devoted to it and ultimately it goes nowhere.
You might have an argument with Guardian of the Universe. Though I definitely think it's stronger than Advent of Legion.
Are you guys ready for the next superhero cinematic universe?

Why can't horror films be truly scary?
You all know you've had 1,000,000 ideas for better and scarier things than anything that currently exists in any film or the particular movie that you're watching
I feel that most movies waste setting and creatures and tones on being mediocre and only somewhat dreadful or spooky or startling
It's much easier to imagine scary things, but perfectly translating your psyche to the screen where actors have to physically perform it would be an impossible feat.
Can one even make a movie that's TRULY scary? I don't think it's possible for a work of art to affect people on that level. There's too much of an alienation between the viewers and the screen -- we're always kind of aware it's just a film. To enjoy horror, you have to find other things to appreciate.

the THING (1982) was pretty damn scary. i remember Hide and Seek (2005) being scary until you find out the twist is really stupid and boring. i was really expecting it to be some kind of alien or demon or something else really terrifying for the scenario but it fell flat. signs was scary toward the beginning.

I found the Blair Witch Project to be truly unnerving when I first saw it because I kept trying to imagine what she looked like.

MANHATTAN

Personal favorite is Hannah and Her Sisters, nice mix/representation of much of his work. Crimes Misdemeanors, the early comedies, comfy 80s films, some of the new ones, he has more good to great films than nearly any other living American director.

It was a drama marketed as a comedy. All the trailers made it seem like it would be funny watching Will Smith be the drunk bum version of Superman and break things while saving people. They didn't expect 30 mins in for it to be a character piece and then all that crap about being 'paired' and Will cucking the guy who was trying to help him cause his wife was actually a superhero too and etc.
People felt like it was a bait and switch and complained.
how do you get handsome and charming teevee?
