You know, it could have been an actual plot point of why the facehugger is a better carrier than a aerobe strain, or why he designed the facehugger that way/why it mutated to be that way.

Or better yet, they could have said the planet they landed could have been an already terraformed lost colony of early years since it seems it's more possible to embark to explore deep space now.
