16000 RMB is chump change.

Why do you think anyone (a) cares and (b) would be impressed by such a pittance?

Ah, I miss the meme life and how it triggers fat white girls and most Asian boys.

>texting lots of different girls
>back at school maybe have to chat to some teenagers about sports in the afternoon

Hey guys
So I'm traveling to Brazil to visit my relatives soon. My mother says it's very dangerous there.
Have any of you travelled to Brazil and where? How dangerous is it really?
I'm traveling to Sao Paulo which isn't extremely dangerous but we're considering Salvador too. I heard it's really dangerous there.. Have any of you been in some of these places or just Brazil?

Wish I could help with the questions but I've never been there, but I am curious how long you want to go and do you have a budget in mind? Brazil seems very expensive to travel to.
>>
>>1131782
We're going there for three weeks in December. No we don't have a budget in mind, but I doubt it's more expensive than Southern Europe, is it?
We're also considering traveling more south and maybe to the Iguazu waterfalls because it should be safer there than in the north.
>>

Do not go there. Go somewhere else. You do not belong there with your insecurity. Also always listen to your mum fag

My friend and I are heading to Taiwan next month. Looking to find some interesting or exciting to do that wouldn't be as obvious or just for particular recommendations from people who have been to Taiwan. We are particularly interested in trying anything new and unique, something I couldn't do anywhere else. We are also interested in history and seeing some of the nature outside of Taipei, but din't really know where specifically to go.

In terms of history/culture there is the Palace Museum. It has many artifacts related to Taiwanese/Chinese history. Currently, I think they have some terracotta soldiers on loan from China. One of the things the Palace Museum is best known for is the Jade Cabbage. You will probably have to wait in line to see it. Aside from the Palace Museum there is the Chiang kai shek (not sure if that's how it's spelled) memorial hall. I don't really remember much about it since I haven't visited it for years. Basically it's a monument to the country's founder.

Some other popular tourist areas that I've visited are the Shilin night market, Taipei 101, and Xi Men Ding. I'm sure you can read about the three of these locations online, but of those three my favorite is the night market. It's just feels so alive and vibrant. It has street food, small clothing stores, and carnival type games.

Food in Taiwan is quite inexpensive and good (in my opinion). Some foods that might be considered Taiwan's specialties are beef noodle soup and stinky tofu. If you like Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings I guess?) there's a restaurant that specializes in it called Din Tai Fung. They have a few locations but the easiest one to get to is the Taipei 101 location. Let me warn you ahead of time that if you arrive at the prime lunch/dinner hours you might have to wait 1-2 hours. When I went this time i got there at opening around 10:30 and didn't have to wait.

If you are into it there are tons of malls that you can go shopping at. I'd recommend the Miramar by Taipei 101 because there are a bunch of malls in a small area.

Around Taipei 101 there are some night clubs if you are interested in that sort of thing.

I can't really think of anything else to do right now.
Make sure to bring are an umbrella and mosquito medicine. It can rain quite often and suddenly in Taiwan and there are tons of mosquitoes.

Sorry for the wall of text.

My fiancee and I will also will be traveling there for a few days next month... I'm planning to go to Green Island for at least two nights... We'd really like to make room for Jiufen but aren't sure how much time should be spent there. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

So far Itinerary looks like this:

Day one: Arrive Taoyuan Int. around 17:00
By some fucking miracle get transportation to my cheap hotel in Taipei and grab dinner at a night market.

Day two: Get to Shulin Train Station (New Taipei City) and take 4 hour train ride to Taitung.

Please tell me if there is anything interesting to do in Taitung or if we should try and spend the morning in Taipei~ A bunch of the parks look half decent

Day 3: Catch ferry to Green Island and spend night there. Do some swimming

Day 4: Full day and night on green island

Day 5: Spend the day on Green island. Head back to Taitung.... We are willing to take an afternoon train back up north.

Day 6
No plans

Day 7
No plans, Probably want to stay the night near Taoyuan Airport.

Day 8
Fly out of Taoyuan at 07:00
>>
Also some general questions about Taiwan...

What do cab fares around Taipei look like, how do they compare to other cities... Is there a high likelihood of getting ripped off as a foreigner?

How prevalent is English speaking and signage?

Are the trains usually on time or is it normal to expect hour delays?

Any foods that must not be missed?

Any cheap but unique or fun excursions around Taipei?

Anything I wouldn't realize is offensive? (I do my best to be polite)

Going to Madagascar tomorrow, any last minute tips you guys have? I've learned a little Malagasy, just some basics to be able to thank and address people properly, and stocked up on anti-malaria drugs.

I've read about fady, their local taboos, but is that really something to take into account or is it exaggerated?

>stocked up on anti-malaria drugs
You should always buy anti-malaria drugs at the place. There are different strains across the world and different medications. Don't count on the drugs to really protect you, lately there has been high resistance and not only against malaria drugs.

just so you can double check op.... malarone should be fine. remember to take once daily, if you vomit 1 hr after taking pill take another one and IMPORTANT to go to the doctor and inform him of your venture whenever you get sick 1year from visiting a malaria infested region. safe travels

I'm interviewing at a place in Georgia on Friday. I'm from the midwest and have never been to GA before, and have 5-6 hours of free time after the interview until I need to be at the airport for the return flight. What are some things I should do/see when I'm down there? I'll be interviewing about an hour northeast of Atlanta, but have a rental car with unlimited miles.

Also Dirty South general I guess: if anyone lives/has lived down there, info about the good/bad areas, weather, etc. would be much appreciated.

I'm in Atlanta frequently. Definitely do Underground Atlanta if you're into the history of the area -- one of the oldest areas of Atlanta, under the city of course. Little Five Points for food (Tijuana Garage), bookstores, etc. It's going to be hot as the nine circles of hell; there's no other worthy description of July in Hotlanta.
>>
Not going to look it up myself but if its close enough hang out in savannah for a goid ole fashioned confederate south time
>>
>>1135518
Thanks for the info. I've been checking out houses/apts online for a while now so I'm only gonna spend maybe 30 min to an hour checking out some neighborhoods. The rest of the time I'll probably checking out Atlanta. I might even have some time Thursday since my flight gets in at like 4. Might stop by the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area on my way back to Atlanta too.

>>1135519
Unfortunately it's like 4 hours from Savannah, but I definitely have plans to visit if I get the job.

Tell me about Bali.

I know there'll be a lot of tourists, especially aussies.

I'm sure the beaches are good.

But thats all i hear.
What about the rest? Are the temples and shrines and other activities good enough to warrant a visit to Bali instead of going somewhere else like Hawaii?

Much cheaper than Hawaii
Yes lots of drunk aussie bogans especially in the south(kuta)
The temples and other tourist stuff are worth a look (well just once imo)

I thought there was lots of cool outdoorsy stuff, and the scenery in parts of the island are beautiful.

Definitely take a fast boat over to Lombok and the Gili Islands if you go to Bali.

Hey /trv/ here is one I figured would be good to ask.I have a ticket to Europe already, and am planning a several month Trip. I dont have an exact plan for returning but do want to plan a return, once I kinda figure this out. With your Experience, what has been some of the cheapest Airports for you to fly out of? Keep in Mind, Just about anywhere Western Europe will do. I will be in France, Spain, Germany and most likely stop in the UK too. If an Airport is another Country near these, I will certainly consider it.

Some of the busiest are, perhaps obviously, Frankfurt and Amsterdam Schipol. I have had relatively cheap transatlantic flights from both of these (I am assuming despite your Strange Use of Capital Letters that you are American). Heathrow may offer deals too, or at least a lot of options, although I've only recently realized, to my embarrassment, that the busiest airports are not necessarily the cheapest.

Norwegian Airlines is supposedly a budget carrier, presumably operating out of Oslo--they not long ago started service to various US airports. I did not find fares from my home city (San Francisco) very competitive, but perhaps parts East are a better deal.
>>
>>1135367
Frankfurt, Paris, Munich, Amsterdam, London
>>
>>1135367
Milan is often the cheapest. For example, you can find really good deals with Emirates flying from there.

Hello /trv/

I've been backpacking around the globe for the past three years and reflecting on that whole experience I have come to realize that I enjoyed the times when I was staying/working at one place for a longer period of time and got to experience and live the day to day lifestyle of the locals, make friends and get to know them on a deeper level and find my way around the place I have enjoyed my time a lot more than rushing in and out of 2 hostels a week, meeting people for a day or two and then moving on.

Therefore I would like to try to do more of my preferred style of travelling and experiencing different countries and that's why I'm coming to you to see if you have got any interesting suggestions. I've already taught English in Vietnam and worked on a farm in the Australian outback and I'm looking for more work/stay opportunities like that. I'm particularly interested in visiting Japan, China and South Korea. Do you have any pointers in that direction?

Thanks

The japan general

I'm going to be operating Airbnbs in downtown Vancouver. I have a few questions for some experienced hosts who take Airbnb seriously and use it as a significant source of income.

1 - Do you meet your guests or let make them pick up keys at key holding services?

2 - How do you deal with neighbors/security/property mangers, and how do you make your airbnb as discrete as possible?

3 - Do you offer your guests parking? New strange cars in the apartments parkade every couple days seems like a dead giveaway for those investigating possible Airbnbs in their building.

4 - Whats your strategy during the off seasons? Do the amount of bookings drastically drop, and how much do you lower prices?

5 - Have you been confronted about Airbnb by a property manager? How did that play out?

5 cont. - How long on average does it take for the managers to figure out that you're operating in their building? (Assuming you've been being discrete)

6 - What are some giveaways through early messaging that someone might not be a good guest?

7 - Got any horror stories?

1) I meet them if possible, if i'm not around, they can pick the keys at a shop in the same street.
2) I don't deal with it. Nver had any problem.
3) I live in the middle of Strasbourg. My street is closed for car. Parkings are outside of the city.
4) Depends on where you live. I don't really rise my price during holidays.
5) Never. I don't have a building manager.
6) Depends of what you want. I don't rent to people 30+, lifestyle too different. On phone, i just check if i have a good vibe with the potential guest/
7) Not really, only had cool people so far.
>>
>>1135248
Hosting in Venice, Italy
1) I always meet my guests and talk to them, I explain where the places of interest are, where to buy groceries, where to eat and reply to anything they ask about
2) nosy neighbours are easily silenced if you have all the authorizations, same goes for homeowners. If you intend on doing this illegally forget it. No matter what precautions you take, guests will end up making themselves obvious and you'll be in trouble. Couch surfing might be a better option if this is how you roll
3) my house has a parking space I never use and guests are happy about it. Some just leave the car in the street.
4) I lower the price and hope for the best. November-March is the worst time
5) no since I own the place. I've gotten a financial police visit once but everything was in order
6) if the guest has lots of demands, asks for discount, asks if it's ok to have a party/have other people come along/shoot a movie or photobook, doesn't speak English or some language you know at least enough to understand them, is a mainland Chinese, asks to pay in cash, asks to see the house beforehand, or appears to not have read the listing at all, it's best to not let them book.
7) a fat American woman and her fatter mother tried cooking over the kitchen fire's glass countertop, probably thinking it was induction or something, which exploded in a thousand pieces I had to spend the morning getting rid of. At least they paid for the damage.
>>
>>1135316
>if the guest asks for discount, pay in cash, asks to see the house beforehand

These seem like reasonable requests, you had bad experiences with people making them?
Also any other group of people in addition to mainland Chinese which are trouble? I was doing student exchange with Spaniards and don't think I'll ever let group of them into my property.

Attributes of your ideal region or city, possibly nonexistent

>Large arts and theatre community
>Tech hub (like SF, Seattle, Amsterdam) or prestigious university city (like Boston, Berkeley, Cambridge UK)
>Good utilities + infrastructure
>Excellent public transportation, should not need a car
>Philosophy and literature community/history is a plus
>Cost doesn't matter too much, but not some place with only rich people and no culture like Palo Alto
>Near hiking trails
>Doesn't have to be English speaking
>Rich in arts or cultural history (Florence, Siena, Rome, Vienna, Istanbul, London, Paris, Prague, Athens, Munich, Berlin, Moscow, NYC, etc.)

Amsterdam 16sept - 20sept
-mostly red light district, bicycling through parks and will try to visit haarlem and the Hague

Berlin 21sept - 26sept
-same as before

Munich 27sept - 29sept
-oktoberfest and the nice castle which I don't remember the name

Prague 29sept - 3oct
-getting shitfaced

France 3oct - 9oct
-will try to visit as many cities as I can but so far I have
>Marseille
>Aix Provence
>Carcassonne
>Saint Michel(?)
>Lille
>Paris, where I will catch my return flight

My cousin and I are planning on going to the parks because everyone else will go shopping, because they are old and don't enjoy the parks, and also because we are spics, our stuff is shit, we can get better stuff there for less money.
We are both adults, we won't have any kids with us, so we'd like to stay clear of the kiddie places
What do you guys reccomend? Which parks should we go to? Which ones should we avoid? What sales and promos are there for the tickets? Hos is the weather around that time of year? Where to eat too, and what places should we defo avoid?
Don't try to talk us out of it, it's been discussed, we are doing this, you guys have no idea what it means to a spic to visit the parks, as shitty as you may think they are.
