What is Rated M for Manly?
Rated M for Manly is a card RPG that gives the feel of the over the top 80's action movies that we know and love. Over the top action, explosions and manly pecks... and the puns, oh the puns.
So I ended up helping with starting this ages ago and continued working on it, and now I'm currently looking into quotes on prices.
There are around 210 cards and a revised rule set with the update.
Here is the old wiki
http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Rated_M_For_Manly
Right now I'm working on the card design and whatnot, but i want to gauge everyone's interest and answer any questions that people have.
The system is very simple. It uses at most 2d6.
Hero's (the players) choose a badass name and job. Normal rolls are 1d6 vs defender, but if a players job covers the skill they get to roll 2d6.
for instance if a player is a cop and he needs to roll to shoot a target they get 2d6, whereas if they had to roll to pilot a ship they would only have 1 die.
>Gameplay
In Rated M for Manly a group of badasses square off against the Villain.
One player takes on the role of the director and acts as the gm to the game and the players are the badass heroes. The heroes try to make it to the end of the movie while doing over the top awesome shit. The heroes can earn awesome points which are a currency that they can use to do over the top action.

Hey /tg/ how do I do a SMT like game where YHWH is one of the antagonists without coming off as a Fedora Lord?
>>46047823
Put yourself in the shoes of the jews as christ fucks shit up, or the pharaoh as your firstborn die, or a roman as your gods die.
You have to work with the idea.
One of the central ideas to many of the SMT stories involving YHWH as the big bad centers around the idea that YHWH isn't in fact an all powerful god, simply a spirit, same as all the rest of the spirits you deal with, who just became powerful enough to be considered a god.
It also helps to keep with the Law/Chaos idea in that while YHWH might not exactly be the best guy ever, it's not as if everyone else is all roses and good intentions.
Then it just comes down to what game you're talking about. In the DS series, YHWH can be considered a good guy in many ways, at least in the first one. Don't know about the second.
Strange Journey kept him sort of out of focus as well, though it did suggest he had a hang in empowering the crew to deal with the demons. It was only one of the Archangels who got super crazy.

So a somewhat wrathful figure determined to impose his own order onto the world?
For context, it is a modern game taking place a little later in this year.
Hey, /tg/, I could use a little advice for a solo campaign with my good friend I'm trying to write up.
The short version is this friend of mine was interested in playing a skeleton character in the setting I've been writing for about a month now. This is incorporated into the lore and current events in such a way as not to be completely shoehorned, but the issue I'm having is with what direction to go with the plot.
Majora's Mask is quite possibly this friend of mine's favorite game of all time, and he reacted positively to me asking him about taking inspiration from it for the story and world of the campaign. I've played a good amount of the game, enough to appreciate the majority of its themes, characters, and so on, and I've supplemented what I haven't played of it with reading.
This all sounds well and good, but the problem comes in when trying to actually come up with a story that hits all the same notes that Majora's Mask does. To that end, the best idea I've been able to come up with insofar as the somewhat limbo-esque and futile atmosphere the game presents with the constant time rewinding mechanic is this: a curse, wrought from the character's place between the veil of life and death (for reference, this skeleton race will be treated as living just as often as undead for various technical and magical purposes during the story, e.g. healing), which will dictate that this character will be plagued with a purgatorial solitude. Any NPC the character should speak to would forget him within a fairly short period of time (a few hours at least, a day at most). What's more, he'd be unable to stay in one place for more than a short period of time before it would start to exhibit very negative effects on his unhealth.
As much as I think this is a somewhat elegant solution to the problem, it also plays against the format in some pretty hard to ignore ways. (cont.)
Being that this is a solo campaign, a huge amount of the plot, character development, and general time would be spent on NPCs. This curse would immediately interfere with that, disincentivizing helping NPCs, taking the time to get to know them, and so many other things that would almost necessarily make this kind of game work.
I also feel like the sort of mood this would bring about would be extremely incompatible with tabletop in general, to say nothing of a game featuring only two people (which can be a little awkward by itself, in my experience) A story like this would be perfectly fine to explore in a book or a movie, in which the viewer/reader would be sympathetic but ultimately disconnected to the struggles of the protagonist, but I fear that it might be unrealistic to expect anyone to actually play through them without getting completely and utterly burned out and bored.
So this is my plight. I wish I were either creative enough to come up with a different plot point entirely or experienced enough to make it work well. I hope someone can offer up either one of these things

Does anyone play Age of Rebellion?
I don't understand what about being a member of the army sounds fun.
You can play a sweet bounty hunter, or a smuggler, or a jedi... Or you can join the army and get told what to do all the time by your commanding officer? Why would you want to roleplay just having a shit job?
>>46046233
Well you could get to lead a group of players but basically contributing to war effort... I don't really get it personally but people seem to like starfighters and shit (also if done well being a spy could be fun imo).

Subtle edition
I'm trying to create Raiden from MGRR in chummer for kicks but it seems that high levels of cyberlimbs fuck up? Or am I doing something wrong?
With all the limbs augged at 10 AGI and STR, it's not applying to my main stats properly, simply giving them a +2? I've replaced every limb, and the torso, giving them proper customization/enhancementI plan to make all of DESPERADO LLC if I can figure out what I'm doing wrong.
Question, I'm recently new to Shadowrun and in my group I've been primarily playing the role of a troll street sam
who's main function is to be the tank for the group.
I'm interested in dipping my toe into the magical half of the Sixth World. However I have this one question.
I have a secondary character, a HMHVV Strain I Human Vampire. He has a magic of 4 but I did not pick up any magical
spells or abilities of any kind. If I wanted to, as I play along, would I be able to have this character learn magic, or because I
did not chose any kind of magic casting ability, I'm shit out of luck and have to recreate the character from scratch?
Thanks in advance to anyone taking time to answer this questions.
>>46046093
Yep you can learn spells by reading spell formulae. You can get these in-game, you're not just limited to what you take at chargen.
I think you're shit out of luck if you wanted adept powers though.

Thanks for making the thread other anon.
Thread question: What model/faction/caster do you absolutely love, but would never field? What would it take for you to field it/them? I love the witch coven, but they're so fragile, and loosing even one screws you over. I think maybe one more point of armor, or making the erogegore give a small 3 in. AoE of stealth instead of what it currently does.
>>46045830
I love Reznik2 but I've given up the dream. He lost everything that made Reznik1 fun and cool. His spell list is too awkward, his best possible lists are okay at best, and his good matchups are few in number.
I think if daughters could run as a 10 man unit, death march would be pretty good on them, but 6 gets wiped off too casually nowadays. The other problem is that his feat, while pretty cool, is best against low arm infantry swarms, and those are starting to dry up.
ITT: Request art for characters, landscapes, vehicles, etc, and try and post art that others are looking for. I'm looking for Mad Max style cars.
