Depends on the Chapter.

Some don't have any augmentations but are much more interested in fighting the enemies of the Imperium and have no time for women. Some are interested and actually get to have families.

And some sand down their crotches with steel wool, wood-grain alcohol, and rusty razors so they can focus purely on purging.

“Aye, sir.”

Heading up, you at the lurking hulk ahead of you. The massive forcastle belays a low aft deck, one riddled with cargo pallets. There, you see a mass of cargo, hopefully ripe for the taking. The ship was apparently deserted, with davits swung out indicating that boats had been launched, but other than that you didn’t see anything. Ordering your yacht closer, you whistled- this thing was huge. Your yacht was maybe sixty meters long, and fourteen across. This monster was three hundred long, seventy-five across, and as you crossed downwind of it, you discovered it reeked of decaying flesh. Your warriors were on the fordeck, gearing up with that fatalistic laughter you had begun to associate with them getting ready to fight. Behind them, a group of neophytes who must have snuck over from the Carolina huddled, pooling their meagre weapons and prayers.

It has been an hour since Phi informed you that the city of Termat would be at risk to a squadron of AATs equipped with both defoliator cannons and nuclear bombs. Phi explained the whole situation to you. Major Bandit's forces had lost their engagement with the Separatist tanks - fortunately with minimum losses - and were now stalking the squadron through the forest, unable to engage due to poor terrain for an ambush.

The detachment of speeders that were sent back to reinforce against the Nationalist ambush succeeded in repelling the forces, pursuing them deeper into the forest as Phi carefully disengaged the AT-TE from the fallen tree. During the speeders' counterattack supported by Old Man's surprise rocket barrage, the Nationalist Saber tanks were either destroyed or forced to retreat. Old Man's TX-130 was repaired while he and his crew were treated for their injuries.

The platoon of BARC speeders and Old Man's tank were escorting you the rest of the way to the city, moving at the best speed possible.

6th Platoon had suffered a handful of serious injuries and more than a few minor wounds, but the Master Sergeant had informed you that the troopers would be ready for action when they were needed.

While the troopers around you had begun to passionately proclaim that they would personally engage the enemy tanks in order to save the Loyalist city, Phi reported that the squadron of AATs could not be caught up with because of the delay the ambush caused and the rough terrain between your forces and the Separatist tank squadron.

At this point is when Twitch had spoken up, stating that they would all arrive to see Termat burning and there would be nothing they could do about it.

You are First Lieutenant Jinx, CT-42/458, currently self-relieved of duty because of your concussion (which one of 6th Platoon medics had administered an accelerated treatment for, with the orders to rest up until morning), and laying behind the heads of your infantrymen. You feel the injected bacta and stimulants course through your veins, having kept you awake so that the concussion could not drag you into a coma if you fell unconscious again.

Night has fallen on the planet of Jabiim, the muted tapping of heavy rain is echoing against the dorsal armor, and the inner hull of the AT-TE is silent except for the groans of the sleeping wounded and the shuffling of armor. Twitch's comment had drained 6th Platoon of all enthusiasm, and your crew has not spoken on the private comm channel.

Your mind is still somewhat warped from the effects of the concussion and the stimulants, but you feel your senses return to you.

You gaze around at your troopers, your men.

You watch as the demoralized clones sit slouched and forlorn, and you can understand their sense of fatalistic defeatism.

They are your men, and you are their Commander. In this moment, your brothers need you to be a Good Commander.

You can do plenty of things; right now if the first time Jinx is more or less completely aware of his surroundings and his ability to think since the Jetpack trooper had bashed his brain around.

Open ended option sections like this are intentional: What is the character thinking of doing as he returns to reality, hm?

I start giving them magic items within their first couple levels, but always trinkets and fluff items until they're 5.
Stuff like CoS's stormglass or eyes of minute seeing.

for example I currently have a bard 4/paladin 2 who managed to escape their life as a slave gladiator due to a god looking favourably on them, however they aren't fully aware of the gifts this god has given them and used them little more than instinctually if at all (I don't know who the god is yet)

roleplay wise these abilities manifest fairly frequently but my character doesn't understand them and is a little scared of them but my main question is how do I roleplay my use of the, as obviously I the player makes the choice to use something but my character doesn't

If Khorne doesn't care about honor or whatever and just wants blood to flow, why does he hate Tzeentch? What's the functional difference between smashing a civilian's skull in with an axe versus using sorcery to kill a bunch of civilians at once?

Yes, there is.

Space Marines either find whichever warband which suits them best, or falls with a bunch of brethren and they make their own warband. Many are absorbed into Black Legion, but entire chapters can form their own, like the Crimson Slaughter.

Khorne doesn't like certain sorcerers because they don't have to try as hard to do way more damage than say, a dude with a sword. Khorne is fine with self augmentation, but not waving your arms and dissapearing a tank

It doesn't matter who you are. It only matters that you're here now. The 'Cave of Blunders' is known to kill fledgling adventurers, but there's a reason why you're seeking out such a dangerous place. It might be to gain fame and glory, or maybe it's to rescue the smith stolen away from the nearby town. Be it selfish or selfless, you're at the entrance of a dungeon. Can we make up rules for them? since they havent recieved support since 4rth edition. I'll start.

Veterans of Ferrox Rift:
The Aurelian Blood Ravens Veterans consists of a 5 man squad of space marine veterans armed with bolters and chainswords and a champion.
Veteran: WS 4/BS 4/S4/T4/I4/A1/W1/LD10
Champion: WS4/BS4/S4/T4/I4/A2/W1/LD10

Zeal of the champion: When battling in a challenge, the champion adds one to its weapon, attack and initiative skills. It also gains the zealot ability for the remainder of it’s duel.
Gift’s of the armory:
Before entering battle roll a dice for each veteran and consult the table below to see with which close combat weapon they will be armed for the rest of the game. Then roll another dice to see with which kind of fire weapon they will be armed for the rest of the game.
Meele Weapons chart:
1. Sanguine chain-sword: Grants 1+ to wound.
2. Power Axe
3. Power Sword
4.Power Fist
5. Lightning-Claw
6. Thunder-hammer
Ranged Weapons chart:
1.Grav Pistol
2.Relic Bolter: Has special Issue ammunition.
3. Hellfire Bolt Pistol: Ignores cover/Has the instant death special rule
3. Plasma Pistol
4.Narthecium and Relic Pistol: Can only be taken once, if rolled more than once then roll again until you get a different result. Relic pistol has special issue ammunition.
5:Storm Bolter with special issued ammunition.
6. Combi-weapon: your combi ammunition it’s your choice.


Special Rules:
True Grit: All the fire weapons carried by the unit have the pistol special rule.

Kronus Veterans:
Units with the Kronus veteran rules have the preferred enemy rule against: Necrons, Orks, Tau, Eldar, Chaos and Daemons of chaos.
Furthermore Necrons are not allowed to use re-animation rolls when receiving wounds by a unit with this special rule.
Aurelian Veterans:
Units with this rule have the relentless special rule and preferred enemy and hatred rule against: Tyranids.
In addition you may re-roll your deep strike rolls for drop pods and terminators.

Which edition had the best weapons balance? I play exclusively AD&D 2.0 with some oldschoolers and I find that both the game design and the loot written into adventures blatantly favour longswords/bastard swords, short swords to a lesser extent, and basically everything else is crap, except a dagger for mages/rogues.

Do other system handle it better?
