Can an Imperial Guard wield a Bolter?
193 posts and 28 images submitted.

Yes, there are Guard versions that are smaller than the space marine ines, you used see Imperial Guard officer models equipped with them.
>>

Well if FFG rules are anything to go off, a normal human can but with great difficulty thus making it either impossible to aim or imosssible to fire more than a single shot at a time.

>Thief loots a viking barrow, picks up a surprisingly well-preserved (possibly magical) set of chainmail and helmet
>Him: "I'll give them to [the halfling fighter]."
>Me: "A bit too big, isn't it?"
>Him: "Eh, we can find a blacksmith to fit it for him

I'm genuinely at loss on how easy or difficult this would be. How bad would it be, realistically speaking, and how would it work in a fantasy game instead?

In your example I'd go for impossible. Imagine it that way - take a leather jacket for a normal sized grown man, and then imagine how someone would "resize it" to fit a 10 years old. It cannot be done without pretty much destroying it and making a new one from the scrap.

Other than that, when you find a random human armor and want it to fit your own human/elf (depending on a setting) fighter, I wouldn't go too much into detail, just an arbitrary number of days of work plus x amount of currency, the more powerful/complex the item the more expensive it should get.
>>
Can be done somewhat easily.

Historically, noblemen would sell their outdated or damaged gear to highranking soldiers, who then would sell their gear to lowranking soldiers. This means that it was very common for blacksmiths to have experience retrofitting armour, or altering staps on weapon scabbards. Shrinking down helmets... that's a bit trickier I imagine. Maybe the blacksmith can just "shave off" a bit of the helmet?

Not really, he's pragmatic for he most part, but doesn't think about it on the philosophical level.
>Kid
Nope, he's too young to have grasp of such things.
>Hound
I guess you could call it Extreme Darwinism.
>Zealot
Goes by The Book with 100% conviction. He's technically insane and sometimes takes things too far, but I guess that still counts.

I'm sure everyone got this one book in the shelf you were never able to play with your group, but you would absolutely love to do so. May it be due to innate bias towards the system (lol DW), a lack of time or other fickle reasons.
In my case, this would be Fate of the Norns: Ragnarok (FotN:R).
The system is somewhat interesting and serves its purpose (end time mythical viking stuff - decently good researched), the artwork is beautiful (you either love or hate it, I think) but it is mostly due to the combat and task resolving system why it’s so interesting for me.
Instead of throwing die around, you’ll draw runes out of a pouch which you must assign on a special sheet.
So, there is a little less randomness involved, and more resource management. The system requires a hex map and figures to be played as intended and is therefore bretty gamistic.
I fear that it could turn out to be too clunky for my taste, but then again - I didn’t get the opportunity to test it.
Aight, whats your untested gem of a game, anon?

FoTN is one of mine, there's also Legends of the Wulin. It's the only rules-heavy narrativist game I've found, and it has great combat once you understand it. The problem is that because the book is such a mess, and it requires a fair bit of player involvement, it's impossible to get my group interested.

>How do you like your cosmic evils?

Not evil, but more circumstantial, "you're in the way".

The kind of situation where we finally make it into space and find out that Space Whales have been living in the vacuum for millenia and they're highly territorial, not-sapient, and horrifying if only on the basis that the cold, empty, void of space is their indigenous habitat.

You hear some sort of horrifying, garbled, "skreeeeooonnkk-uga-ug-uga" through the radio before you look out the port hole and see this fucking creature flipping it's body onto the unreflective side; exposing the ingenuity of natures design.

I like them A-Jeroth style. Incredibly smart, calculating, patient, wise, great at reading people even without their vast array of supernatural perceptions and powers.
And utterly, utterly petty with it. They're the sort that spend every waking hour (which is all of them, they're not really alive in the traditional sense) trying to maximize the pain of every single being in their awareness, ranging all the way from horrifying wars that lead to mass slaughter, to manipulating a kid into kicking a dog.

So it doesn't look like this hey answered in the old thread so I'll just repost it. So I was re reading the DFC rule book and the fluff text for the Medea said that it deployed types 1-5 walkers,is there anything about these new walkers or are they going to be in coming books?

I would presume that the Type 5's will be part of phase 3 for DZC, along with the UCM Osprey and the Scourge Executor.

Still hoping for those Type 6 and Type 7 Grand Walkers, though.

Speaking of, anyone got the Gurren Lagann Marco Baros pic?

I've actually really liked Bloodletter in TD. I think it's fairly honest as far as sentries go. The price you pay as a runner is real, but you can still get through. Out of TD, I wonder... but then that's where the Skorpios ID ability comes to the rescue.

Fate Accelerated is pretty easy, cuts out a lot of the confusing bullshit jargon of Core so it's far simpler to pick up.

GURPS Ultra-Lite is very simple despite what some anons' initial knee jerk reactions to the word "GURPS" will cause them to believe.

Mini Six is super simple.

And then there's just tons of two page rules lite RPGs out there that you could pick up and play in the same afternoon.

Would the Zerg Swarm at its height be the equal of a Tyrannid Hive Fleet?

Or would it only be like a splinter of a Hive Fleet?

it would be exactly like a hive fleet.

The only reason they're called zerg and not tyrannid is because games workshop hates money and turned down blizzard's attempt to license a wh40k rts, and they just filed off the serial numbers and shipped it anyway.
>>

wasn't it because they were afraid it would be in competition with the tabketop stuff ?

Basically, yeah.

Also, the Tyranids have eaten multiple galaxies. I don't know how large the Zerg swarm are, but they'd need to eat at least one galaxy to become comparable.
