Hey /o/ i will be living in japan for about a year or more and will need to buy a car. Im a burger so i wanna pick up something that you cannot get in the US. I'm not going the skyline route because i wont have enough money. I was thinking of some less popular nip cars like a soarer. I dont want any suv/trucks im only interested in coupe/sedans. Maybe something comfy with a little bit of old school flare. What should i look into?
>>17488762
C33 Nissan Laurel. They're cheap, nice cars. Skyline drivetrain, S chassis suspension components.
>>17488762
so you want to buy a japanese cars you have no clue about?
sounds like a good idea.... lol
fyi you if plan on exporting it to the US and re-selling, dont bank on it making profit.
>>17488807
Looks pretty neat. Anything specific i should know about them?
>>17488824
im not planning on doing that. And also it doesnt sound like a great idea, but im going to experience new things. I love japanese cars so if im gonna be in the homeland why get something unique? Besides, it will be just for one year, so im not planning on doing much to it.
Again, i can see why it's a strange idea but i need a car there. Most of the cars i know about are gonna be too expensive for my budget.
Tell me about old land cruisers.
Why shouldn't I buy one?

Extremely overpriced meme SUV
>muhhh it's old so izz goooddest!!
It hit me today on my first longer ride on bike.
There was a good times in car industry, when there were "no replacement over displacement", and some dark times, with downsized and mostly bland car (2007-2017 never forget). During last 60 years of making cars many things changed, but one thing remained through all theese years
It's us
Whether you are Amerifat with 8.0l Cadillac, or yuropoor with Twingo, there's one that connects us.
It's the feel.
The feel when you turn the ignition on your machine, when car detailing went just great, when we finish our one-of-a-kind project, when we make better and better time on nearby track.
We like our cars clean, dirty, fast, loud, comfy or just good looking.
The industry will change, WE are changing. But we will prevail. As long as we will love what we do, we will always find a way to keep our love for cars alive.
tl;dr, there are good times and bad times. Don't let it destroy our passion. Be happy

Well Suzuki still has the Swift, but that's not even the same vehicle anymore. The Chevy Spark is probably the closest thing.

I dont know much and google wasnt help so here i am
My car(pic related) is an automatic but you can choose 1st on 2nd on the gear selector, so if i were to go from 1st, and then 2nd once i got up to speed, then automatic, would i kill the transmission?
thanks, /o/
pls, /o/
>>17488287
I wouldn't do it.
but go try it and tell us what happens.
>>17488287
No you would not blow up your transmission, but leaving your foot on the gas pedal while shifting could cause damage as well as; having it in N and reving it up and then putting it into D to try launching it
Why do expressways in Japan look so peaceful?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdJthnaGO6c
Seriously, I've taken multiple charter busses out into the countryside around Tokyo, fall asleep first 5 minutes every time, wake up and you're in the mountains, no city in sight. Pull into a highway stop, get a whole fish on a stick. Pretty fucking comfy.
>>17488163
Fucking true. I lived in bootleg Japan (Okinawa to be specific) and me and my friends used to haul ass up north on the expressway through the mountains, then pull off into rest stops and eat to kill time, because they would count the time on your ticket from where you entered to where you exited to battle against speeding.

I am in the market for a used car. Everytime i find a particular model i like, i research the issues that owners of said model have experienced. After reading the numorous complaints i am always convinced not to get that car. Every time, every car. I read issues like transmission failure at low miles, blown/leaking gaskets at low miles, fluid/oil leaks at low miles, car not accelerating, hesitation, car accelerating WOT on its own, dealer cant reproduce said problems, severe electrical gremlins, car shutting off mid drive, car shutting off when making a turn, car stalling out when turning, lots of shit. Now im scared to buy any car. Im afraid to waste THOUSANDS of dollars on a car thats faulty, gonna break or kill me in the near future. I want to buy a car i like, but after reading complaints, im scared to buy it.
Any help? Words of encouragment or somthing?

Keep in mind people are more likely to say something on the internet about it when they're having problems rather than when everything is going good with the car.

When I was ultra-poor I bought a Renault Fuego for $1K and drove it for over a year. Did no maint on it. When I got rid of it it had basically no brakes and coolant would shoot out of the engine bay through the hood panels. It was a rough time.

Someone in this thread had a white die-cut "OK 3, 2, 1, let's jam" sticker on their windshield (maybe the dude with the stickied up repsol cbr600rr?)
Where2cop? I see notori has a "see you space cowboy" thin horizontal sticker and I might get that too, but it'd be nice to have one for coming and one for going.
Nth for post your exhaust sounds.
