Hey guys I was thinking...

What if I detach my registration plates from my car, and put on another plate (i.e. an unregistered plate) to hoon past speed cameras? Will the authorities find me?

Didn't your pappy tell you not to pet a burning dog?
>>
>>14753139
Probably, and if they catch you it'll far worse than if you just hoon pass the cameras with your registered plates.
>>
>>14753139

People do that all the time to steal gas.

And they still get caught

Are wheel spacers bad for your automobile? Why or why not install them?
26 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
Puts more stress on your wheel bearings in a direction they weren't designed to. The ones that include lugs can be sketchy also. If you do use them at least make sure they're hubcentric and that you get larger lug studs if need be
>>
>>14752807
Typically bad as they put more stress on the hubs and sometimes have balance issues if poorly made.

Can /o/ tell me what's wrong:

2004 Chrysler Concord at 143000 miles.

I've known for a while I've had a bad fuel pump, but in the past that just meant it took a couple tries to start.

Now my car doesn't want to shift into either second or third gear and takes about 10 seconds to finally do it.

My biggest problem tho is getting up to speed sometimes the gas doesn't register. I put my foot down but I accelerate really slow. Sometimes it comes and goes a little. I can also sometimes hear a 'click' coming from under the car.

I'm a poor college fuck that's getting a student loan to get a new car. I just need this to last a couple days to a week longer.

My first post here.

Any mechanics here who work for a living? How do you deal with painful hands from working every day? I've been wrenching all week already and my hands hurt like hell, can't imaging suffering this as a career!

You get used to it i guess? I mean, good mechanic's learn tricks to save time and stay injury free for the most part. A hoist helps to save your back and knees and having the correct tool for the job also helps. 15yr ase master tech.

Long story short, the clutch, master cylinder, slave cylinder, all fucked on my AW11, plus a bunch of other repairs that wouldn't be worth it to me at this stage. The car is fucked, and I'm depending on the charity and goodwill of my friends and family for transportation until I get a car.

So I'm looking for a new car, and I found this Impreza Outback that catches my fancy. Craigslist around me is slim pickings. Wish I lived in fucking Phoenix or some shit, senpai. But I digress.

http://muncie.craigslist.org/cto/5506446093.html

It's pretty much everything I want right now, from what I hear it's fun(ner than a taurus) to drive, it's got space to lug shit around. It's, I mean, it's a '90s Impreza. I love this shit.

But it's rebuilt, and it has some rust, and I just don't know if it's worth it or if I should buy a fucking metro and wait for something good to show up.

I need to file an insurance claim with the other person (rear ended me at a light) but I'm hesitant to call and bring up that I need a rental car while they figure this all out. Are they going to give me a hard time getting a rental? I'm not good on the phone.

My Conquest possibly blew the head gasket, so I took it to a reputable shop near me to have them replace the gasket since I don't feel mechanically competent enough to do that on my own. Shop estimate was around 1200$. They pulled the plugs and it seems that the #2 cylinder is scored. My question may come off as noob-ish, but how should I proceed on this motor? How much does a rebuilt motor usually cost? Is is it better to just buy a new motor and if so where would I do that?

Thanks for your replies. Wish I was handier, but I don't exactly feel comfortable rebuilding an engine.

Never buy a used engine unless it's super low mileage. Always get a reman if possible.

Replacing the Conquest headgasket is easy, do it yourself if you have the tools.

Also, owning a Starquest requires you to have all the tools, and spare parts.
Its not a turnkey car.

Shit, $1,200 is how much I paid for mine.

You can buy a built G54B for $1,000 and a running one for about $400.

Where are you located?
>>
>>14751035
also, these are known to get hairline fracture on cylinder #2 between the valves. Its quite possible you have one.

Long story short I might be getting my hands on a 2002 WRX. The guy says it has

>An STi turbo
>Pink headers
>High volume fuel pump
>Full exhaust

What should I fear most? Will the larger turbo from the STi put too much stress on the regular WRX engine?

The EJ20Gs in those things are weak, so are the transmissions.

Depends how much boost it is making. What is it using to control boost?

I think by pink headers you mean pink injectors
>>
>>14750644
Yea, meant to write injectors.

I'm waiting to hear back from him, info in the OP is all I have.
>>
>>14750611

What you should fear most is having a 14 year old Subaru that's been modified God knows how many times.
