When is Japan going to step the fuck up and squash Tesla? Japan; the country that prides itself on being the forefront of technology has ''barely'' even dipped their toes into electric (or alternate fuel all together) vehicles. Don't get me wrong this isn't a combustion hate thread, I love my ICE car, I'm just putting a point out there.
Where are the electric Hondas? The hydrogen-celled Nissans? The diesels that run off of pure plant oils?

Japan has never been the forefront of technology IN CARS. That's America.
First AC, first airbag, first auto tranny, first ABS breaks, etc. All America.
What Japan is good at is making a cheap reliable car. And that's what the Nissan Leaf is. The most affordable electric car on the market. Don't know about reliability yet.

Honda sells an EV version of the Fit/Jazz. Though only in certain markets. They had that hydrogen fuelcell car but it bombed.
Toyota sells an EV RAV4 in certain markets. A plug in Prius hybrid. Plus a hydrogen fuel cell car in certain markets.
Mazda doesn't sell enough cars in the USA to bother with an EV offering.
Mitsubishi has a stretched Kei car turned into an EV called iMiEV.

Want to get a car for relatively cheap to turn it into a hobby car. Found this '95 Civic Si for $1750 with 123,000 miles, all original. The AC doesn't work (doesn't specify what the issue is), one of the hydraulic arms to the back hatch needs a new connector, and there is some minor body damage/rust.
Only really looking at it for how affordable it is and how much aftermarket shit there is for Civics. Would this be a decent pick up for the price? Or is it too fucked?

Why do you buy fast cars?
Like, don't get me wrong, fast cars are awesome, I myself am driving a TTS Coupé.
But why would you buy a fast car in countries where the maximum you'll ever drive that car is in the 4th Gear with 120km/h?
In Germany I can understand that, we can drive as fast as we fucking want; noone gives a crap if you drive 250km/h, but if I was anywhere else, wouldn't an expensive fast car just be Money down the drain?

If you drive the fast car fast and fuck up you end up dead. Driving the slower car fast will lead to considerably less risk of death. I daily drive a Ford Ranger with the 3.slow v6 and have a 5.0 Foxbody for a fun car. The Mustang is a lot of fun, and is still technically in the "slow car" category, but I get enjoyment from revving the nuts off the Ranger while not even hardly speeding or accelerating fast, whereas dropping a gear and putting my foot to the floor in the Mustang gets me a speeding ticket.
