is your cars death via miles inevitabal? how to prevent?
>>15595534
seeing as there are cars with over a million miles still on the road i'll say no
you dipshit
>>15595534
Lots and lots of preventative maintenance. After 30 years you might end up rebuilding the engine or replacing every single part, but it will be your car and it will run for as long as you can keep fixing it.
Take very good care of parts that can't be replaced or repaired, everything else is just a matter of money.
What's /o/'s opinion on the Chevrolet SS?
>>15594685
Not available in canadia
good car
I would rather have a charger SRT 392 though for the money
Must be a great car because wasn't designed in Detroit.
How to use one of these? I just bought one of these and tried it on a scratch, it became too blobby and ran off and make like a bigger and worse looking streak. What's the best way to deal with a medium-deep scratches?
>>15578473
Just don't press down on the pen so hard and if you have a brush end try using the brush.
Lightly apply coats, and then apply your clear. There's no exact science for a newbie, it's not easy and you'll fuck up a lot. Just keep trying
I had two fucking chips in my door and I managed to touch it up. You can still see it up close but from a distance you can't tell. It's far from perfect but you're not gonna get perfect with a touch up pen. Also be sure to clean your surface
>>15578495
wait a minute are those chips or holes in the wall. Either way cant tell. Alright Ill try to do that then, thanks and wish me luck
>>15578473
A touch up pen is the cheapest solution and you get what you pay for.
What's the best way to get a good price at a dealership? My last and only experience buying a car involved me seeing a sticker for ~$7000, driving it around with a rep and got real chummy with him, then when I said I'd like to buy it the friendly rep fucked off and in came a hard-sale douche who laid out a price 2 grand higher than what the sticker said.
What's the best way to deal with the nonsense of salesmen at a dealership?
Avoid at all costs. Stealerships ftw
/thread
Just pay extra for the ecoboost
>>15574640
get the second coat of paint
Prove me wrong
I guess that means society is going really well.
but I can't
Just graduated from university and I'm torn between buying a BMW e46 M3 or 2006-2007 BMW z4m coupe.
Opinions on both rides? Which should I choose in regards to fun, aesthetics, maintenance, etc?
>>15589239
Neither. A civic until you have enough money to repair it properly when needed.
>>15589265
but I'm too good for a civic
I may have never driven any car hard and only barely know how to commute with a stick shit but I am fucking entitled to sports car.
>>15589296
you have many debt anon, do not to buy the expensive car with the fuckoff insurance
please to buy the reliable car
Sup /o/. Prospective buyer here. Got my eyes set on an MR2, but honestly cant make my mind on which one I want for sure.
Which one is the best to live with?
Factors im considering include
>age
(and how this effects the car, especially in New England)
>availability
(2g '92+ are impossible to find unless they're rice taxed beyond reason, same occurs occasionally with 3g '03+)
>ease of DIY, cost of non-DIY
(dont have the tools to drop the engine and trans to do a clutch job)
>driving dynamics
(1gs are go karts, early 2gs are "lively", but 3gs weigh 2200 lbs and are considered to be the best handling)
Car is going to be a daily, and for all intents and purposes, my only car. Whatever chassis I pick will eventually be a swap candidate once it's served its purpose. Storage and passengers are not a concern.
My budget is about 5-7k
What would you pick /o/?
All MR2's are great, but the supercharged AW11 is simply the best. Did you get those in yurop?
>>15582903
>supercharged AW11 is simply the best
No
>>15582903
new england =/= yurp
would /o/ approve of a 933 with an ls1 motor? they're both red so it should work fine.
also would it mitigate the high cost of their maintenance or is the entire car pretty much impossible to take car of without another sitting around to part?
>>15581882
That looks like a 924. An LS swap would be awesome but you might lose the 50/50 distribution.
>>15581882
>would /o/ approve of
Why on gods green earth would you want /o/ approval on anything
What modern cars are fun/easy to wrench on?
honda fit
>>15596873
None. You are going to need extensive special service tools for diagnostics.
>>15596873
What you're looking for is called a motorcycle.
Wrenching in general is not fun, unless you're a Masochist. I only do it becuase I'd be broke otherwise.
Post your custom interior work. Shitty or not.
>Dat suede
I literally got the man who restored the interior of the Ferrari for Ferris Buellers Day Off to do this suede for me. He was expensive and took a while but worth it
>>15591950
I made my own shift knob today
>>15591950
Nice, what car?
>>15592195
Nissan Altima
Does there exist a car that is under $5,000, manual transmission, >92HP, and gets AT LEAST 40mpg like my 94 Civic VX does?
I like this car but it is slow. Very fucking slow.
>>15589909
mr2
If you want speed you arent going to get 40mpg
Only thing I can think of is a Mazda 3
>>15589921
I don't need 0-60 in 4 seconds, but I would like something a little better than 20s 0-60 and can go over 80mph without hitting the red in the tach.
What is the most POS car you've ever driven?
>>15588483
Litterally every ford or honda ive been in.
Absolutly terrible vehicles.
zx2 escort
the shifter literally squeaked when i used it
play in the steering
clutch slipped like mad
brakes going out
At least other shitboxes are fun because they aren't trying to be fast. Then you get in a Civic SI expecting something and it is utter disappointment.
You can only post in this thread if you can name a car better than the Lincoln Mk VIII
>protip: don't even try
>Chryslers begrudingly welcome
pull up the beltline 1ft, lay over tons of sharp creases over this bodyshape, make the lights seem angry and you got yourself a 2010s mk viii
Lincoln comfort master race (don't even talk to me about the Town Car though, pure garbo)
>>15577487
Don't forget to give it actual Downs Syndrome like the MKZ
Does $350 sound like a fair price to have a shop install a lift kit, caster/camber bushing, and have an alignment done? The lift kit is just coil spring spacers and rear suspension lift blocks. I would do the kit myself, but I don't have the tools, time, or place to do it.
>The lift kit is just coil spring spacers and rear suspension lift blocks
....
Sounds pretty cheap actually they must specialize in it so they know they can knock it out fast
>>15596202
problem?
