Poorfag here. Anyone got any recommendations on cheap turbos. I don't care if it is shit quality as long as it does its job. I don't care if it is made in some Chinese factory, as long as it works.

>cheap turbo

Pick one.

Do hundred dollar turbos on Ebay work?
find it on junkyard? like the one on Volvo, Subaru, mitsu Nissan etc ?
ITT: We discuss hatchback autism.
What hatch do you have? What are you looking to buy? What's your favorite hatchback of all time? Why do you like them? etc.
I've been craving a Golf GTI for a while to use as a fun daily driver. Getting rid of an expensive mistake of a 2013 Jeep I bought last year with thankfully no further loss. Not longer after signing the buyer's remorse set it and I still wish I'd just gotten something fucking used and cheap. Long unrelated story, bad idea, but that's over and now I have a strong taste for these cars.
Have my eye on a few used Golfs and hopefully I can pay cash for one soon. Also looking for a Civic Si but they're nowhere to be found. I might be talked into a nice Focus SVT if I can find one but they actually seem about as rare as Si's for some reason.
Anyway, discuss hatchbacks.
Love my ST. Things I've done in my first 7000km
>drive it hard through Toronto traffic like a madman
>get at least a foot of air over a crest while going 190kph
>got sideswiped by a French Canadian and had to get a door + sideskirt replaced (extra panel gap makes me mad every time I see it)
>hydroplaned over a puddle on a wet track and had to get towed out of the mud with 2 other cars
>hit 80kph while 2 people sat in the trunk with the hatch open and their legs hanging out the back
>fit 5 adults (all 6ft or taller) wearing full military kit inside of it
>drove along a walking trail at night on a dare, which was just wide enough to fit my car
>drive for 2 hours on backroads with snow over a foot deep (pic related)
It's been good fun. Still need to break my previous speed record, hit the drag strip, and put it on a dyno. I've done a bit of stuff to it
>full Mountune MR230 kit (turboback, intercooler, tune, intake)
>Mountune short shifter + Boomba shifter/transmission bushings
>Mountune rear motor mount (don't recommend, sometimes rattles)
>Rokblokz mud flaps (fuck salt)
>Firehawk Indy 500 UHP tires
Everyone thinks the painted calipers/stripes/interior lighting is aftermarket but it came pre-riced
Hot hatches are a huge step up from 150hp sedans that I'm used to, but I'd like an actual sports car with RWD next
>>17064152
I've wanted a Golf R or GTI for the longest time too, but recently did more research on them and found that their clutch slips a lot (even with everything stock)
>>17064152
That's the worst Golf GTI ever made, and the slowest, so I hope it's not one of those that you're hankering after.
I think the standard GTI (N/A) makes about 115hp!

**Actual Meet Information**
Happening 4/23
For those that want to do a long cruise can start all the way at Fox Valley Mall, we'll start at 11.
Short cruise starts in the nearby town of Ottawa. The long cruise people will run through here and meet with the short cruise people, who will all take the dankest parts of rt.71 to Starved Rock.
Those that don't give a shit about the cruise can just go straight to Starved Rock and start doing laps or whatever.
When everybody meets up, we'll make food and wait for the cops to fuck off if that happens, then start doing laps again. Which reminds me, people have to chip in to bring food and stuff. I can bring soda.

Since the other thread hit the bump limit, I guess I'll ask here. Does anyone know anything about 4x4 van conversions? Are they worth it or should I just buy >3k suburban?

CAN YOU PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND HOW TO OPEN A DOOR WITHOUT DAMAGING OTHER PEOPLES PROPERTY?
FUCKING FUCK FUCKING FUCK FUCK FUCK.
>>17067357
Tow around an empty enclosed trailer that you can disconnect and then park your car in.
Park away from people near the back of the lot (fat people hate walking)
park next to the islands and make sure your car is hugging that fuggin curb
so far i haven't gotten any door dings by following this method.
in this same parking lot my old shitbox would have a new door ding or two every day when i would park at the front
>>17067357
>park away from people
>if can't find spaces where people can only park next to you on one side (and leave more room)
You really can't do much else. Nothing like parking in an isolated part of the lot and having some $2000 shitbox parked right next to you.
People suck boyo
What's a fun rwd manual car for someone who's 6'10?
Pic related with no center console would be ideal but lotus is probably too small
Any convertible. Remove the top though.
StreetKa
It can be a bike. Also I'm new here but I really need to know what's the best.
Setting: one person with a light weight bag getting chased by one (at first) police car in a city. More police cars may come after.

>>17072480
Sure, you can boost anything.
I don't know why you'd bother boosting a 4.0 tho seems kinda silly
All memes aside /o/ (Yes I know, /o/ doesn't own their own car or do their own work to it). Do you ever do any work to your own vehicle? How extensive is your ability/knowledge when it comes to working on it?
Personally, I can do a fair amount (I think). I've never tried anything too crazy as I'm afraid I'll fuck something up and the car just won't work after. Any major modifications I've taken it to a professional shop. It also depends on my car, my track car I've had my full engine build done at a shop, but my daily beater I'm more inclined to mess with.
I do the basic maintenance stuff myself; oil changes, brakes/rotors, plugs, alternator replacement, belt changes, etc. I can do just about anything auto-body related easily enough (went to vo-tech for AB). Suspension stuff is easy, so is exhaust work and welding, albeit can be a pain in the cock. After that, mostly things with electrical or internal mechanical (valves, cams, headgasket, etc) I'm afraid of doing.
Also, general /diyo/ stories, questions and information thread I suppose.
Mechanically, I haven't found anything I can't do with a factory service manual and YouTube. I'm usually limited by what tools I need or space.
Electrical work is where I lack confidence. I lack the base skills to do it sort of required to do it and that makes it daunting in my own mind, even though realistically it probably isn't.
I am a man of many flaws.
>>17072131
Sometimes using Youtube sucks because people don't know how to use a fucking camera. And for some reason the ones that do are using one in 6p.
>>17072285
I can agree with this but the reason I watch is usually for a very specific step, part location, how to finagle a piece out, etc.
I FSM will tell you what's SUPPOSED to happen, but not what will need to happen after 100k miles.
I was watching the news and police need to identify this car. Can you help /o/?

That's a video game you tard. Need For Speed Most Wanted, IIRC
The New Swift weighs about 840 kg, which is over 100 kg lighter than the previous gen, while other cars only weight More and More and become crossovers.
Is Suzuki, dare I Say it, /ourcompany/?
>>17071708
Still a ways to go from Mazda but sure
>>17071708
It also became more ugly
Yeah but will it have a turbo or still be a piece of shit?
How does suspension stiffness translates into high speed stability?
Harder suspension allows for quicker weight transfer movement in a car, wether or not that also means more weight transfer is debatable, however for a track car its always better to have a stiffer suspension until you start to lose grip.
But how does this works on a high speed straight line car?
What suspension would offer the least floatiness and the most grip regardless of tire/wheelbase/aero downforce for, say, a wangan moster?
>>17071645
Depends on the quality of the road surface desu
>>17071650
Either you are telling me "suspension stiffness doesn't matter" or you haven't read what i typed.
>>17071658
What I'm saying is if you're going in a straight line on a shitty road surface with super hard suspension you're crashing.
On the other hand if the road surface is smooth you want stiff, low suspension and perhaps a little toe in on the front.
