Why is 99% of modern shoegaze shitty drone/rock music with reverb instead of the ambient/downtempo experimentation it was in the 90's?
Same goes for post-rock. Why is 99% of it shitty crescendo-core instead of the innovative stuff it was in the 90's?

Post-rock as we most like it died in 2005.

It's probably the only album they listened to from 2016
What's the best hi-gain distortion pedal? Pic probably unrelated.
>>69522932
I bought the MT-2 when I was a metal-head teenager. An excellent pedal for playing Randy Rhoads riffs in your basement, but the consensus nowadays (as far as I know) is that it's not so good.
I'm partial to tube overdrive now, or normal distortion if necessary. The MT-2 does not do that well.
Japanese boss HM-2
>>69523139
People seem to hate it these days. It apparently has a cheap, dirty tone. I've had one for 6 years and I still like it, but I've had a lot of time to figure out how to make it sound decent.

>What will music be like in 2030?
Any thoughts /mu/?
Mainstream rap instrumentals will sound like Autechre
>>69522729
>Autechre?
You must be a comedian KEK!!
Trap (rap) music will no longer exist for decades and will be looked back upon as a shitty generic trend that shat out one ridiculously cloned rapper after the other (Young Thug, Kodak Black, Uzi Vert, Yatchy, 21 savage).
Which one, /mu/?
And why?
Alice in Chains
I like both. I don't think I can choose just one.
Smashing Pumpkins, but I like Nirvana a lot too.
Music that give you that uncomfortable feeling, that something is not right about what you are hearing-for me it's the first Frusciante. Untitled tracks are exactly the same as the eerie album cover.
>eerie album cover
It's just John in drag on a beach :)
I do love that album though. Love the freedom of it. I might like Smile From the Streets You Hold even more, even though I understand that might be a contrarian thing to say, but fuck, it's great.
I wrote this in another John thread and it sums up my opinions on those albums
>I think it's a really incredible album (Niandra). I like it very much along with Smile From the Streets You Hold. I'm pretty deeply into the idea of tapping into one's "human-ness" and I think that those two albums are perfect examples of an artist losing themselves in themselves. Of course that's just what it sounds like to me as a listener, to John I assume it just felt like making music and having fun. But I wouldn't doubt that John felt like he was being somewhat 'transcendent' with the music he was making. Even though there is a lot of true ugliness on both records both emotionally and just sonically speaking, to me that makes it all the more beautiful because of how perfectly raw it is. Rawness does not make something good, but it is a quality that I find myself to be invested in as a listener. It's not something that you can fake.
Niandra laDes is GOAT
>>69522443
It's an incredible album. In my top 10 since it teached me that good music isn't always easy to listen or comfortable.
Experimental, Raw, Emotional and Beatiful are the words that describe this album for me.
Where did the "TLOP is bad" meme come from? South Park / Fantano?
TLOP isn't bad but it isn't good either. Most mediocre Kanye to date
>>69522365
It sounds unfinished. Very little cohesion between songs, no central idea. Like four of the songs are worth listening to, and Kanye clearly didn't stay wavy while writing this crap.
