I think he meant diverse in their musical styles.

Dear /mu/,

I've decided to print out a mosaic of what are considered the "magnum opuses" of various mediums, to my Aunt, because she doesn't like me buying her a gift, and she would like something I don't have to spend money on, and we both enjoy works of fiction/semi-fiction created by others.

Thing is, I don't know if it's going to be one with either just:

>books, films, albums
>books, films, albums, videogames
>books, films, albums, TV shows, videogames

And I've been kind of debating it for a while. I would like it to be book/film/album/videogame, but I know that videogames have not had the respect of their contemporaries, and are often dismissed for being too new of a medium.

Which one should I go with?

>Pick a pop album for music
Why not Beethoven's Symphonies Nos 5 & 7 or Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelung?
A Love Supreme or Kind Of Blue?
Or even classic traditional folk?
These are just basic stuff yet they're better than Pet Sounds.
And even if you were to pick a more popular album. At least pick something like The Velvet Underground And Nico.

Im curious why do you people want trump to be inaugrated?
You do know that Hillary isnt going to become the president right?
Its going to be Pence, because the republican party won literally everything there was to win.
Hillary lost for good and si ce the electoral college confirmed its votes she has literally no chance of winning

they're pretty unique, but that album kinda reminds me of the atom heart suite for some reason
try more magma like de futura, and krautrock
>>
Magma's discography is very consistent. I'd say the only album that isn't worth a listen is Merci (unless you want Magma without anything that made them good).

Kobaïa and 1001° Centigrades are more jazzy. Kobaïa is basically jazz fusion, Centigrades is in the middle of the jazz fusion of Kobaïa and the zeuhl of MDK.

Köhntarkösz is dark, minimalist and probably the most instrumental album in the discography.
Wurdah Ïtah is very similar to MDK, as would be expected, because they're both part of the Theusz Hamtaahk trilogy.

Üdü Wüdü goes a more funky route and includes the amazing De Futura, which is more than enough of a reason to check it out. Attahk is even more funk and accessible. It's good, but not as essential as others.

Merci is a disco/soul album. Haven't listened to it enough to decide if it's good or not, but definitely not where to go if you want more like MDK.

The modern return of Magma gave us K.A, Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré, Félicité Thösz and Slag Tanz. All fantastic albums.
K.A is basically MDK, but way more upbeat.
Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré is like K.A, except darker.
Félicité Thösz is basically upbeat zeuhl-pop. Unlike Merci, it's great and sounds like Magma.
Slag Tanz is there if Ëmëhntëhtt-Ré wasn't dark enough.

They also remade the amazing opening track from Centigrades, Rïah Sahïltaahk, as an EP. It's not as good as the original track.

Other great Zeuhl bands/albums to check out:
Eskaton - 4 Visions. Upbeat zeuhl like K.A, but sung in French.
Koenjihyakkei. This is basically Magma if they were Japanese and more insane at times.
Weidorje's only album. Some Magma members left the band and made this album and it's amazing.
Dün - Eros. Once again, only one album. A combination of Magma, Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra and avant-prog.
Jannick Top - Infernal Machina. It's basically De Futura if it was an entire album, although it doesn't sound anything like that for the first three tracks.

Hope this helped.

Anyone else here rarely listen to the words of songs? I listen to music almost all day but find even some of my favorite songs I don't know the words or find myself realizing what the songs about after hearing it the millionth time. Help me break this bad habit, /mu/.

99% of lyrics are trash. Don't worry about it.
>>
>>69818092
That's how I've always felt, but people seem to have their bands and songs that perfectly describe them and their moods, life events, whatever. I don't feel like I have that. Am I weird or are most people who think that way disingenuous? Just seems like I'm missing out on a fundamental experience most people get out of music.
>>
I barely listen to lyrics either OP, especially the first time I listen to a song/album. Typically I just listen to vocal melodies along with the rest of the music and look up the lyrics when I listen to it a second or third time
