This is album is so repetitive. Don't know why it's so often a favorite among Metallica fans, it's like the worst one outside of Load. The Shortest Straw actually triggers a migraine for me.

Nostalgia is a big factor, for me at least. This was the first metal album I ever purchased back in 1994 when I was 11. I loved ONE and the music video, and also enjoyed the Metallica songs that were played on the on the radio and MTV. They usually only played the shorter songs though and I had never heard songs that were over five minutes besides classical music.
Hearing songs that were 8+ minutes long was unbelievable. It felt like a journey through every song instead of a brief run.
That being said, some of the songs drag on and on but it's still an amazing album. Dyers Eve is 10/10

Other way round. Hesitation Marks is the link to The Downward Spiral, NTAE links to Broken. Next album will link to Pretty Hate Machine.

>2015
>Bowie is alive
>Blackstar is 30 in the top 50 singles list
>2016
>Bowie is dead
>Blackstar is 1 in the top 50 singles list
that just proves the way of bowiefags' thinking
Blackstar is overrated corny "muh throwback" pop rock album.
I know this is bait, but still.
The song only makes perfect sense when taking his death into account. It was already a fantastic single when it was released, but in hindsight it's much more significant and is the theme song to his death basically, which is pretty fucking epic.
My only complaint about this is that, yes the single was released in 2015. It shouldn't be on 2 lists.

I heard it before it offically dropped and I thought it was going to be AOTY, here we are nearly a year later and I still think even more so.
What's with their fixation on God/Satan?
Fuck them and their nu-male faux psych bullshit. One of the worst bands out their right now.
>>69831768
You seem to be a lot of fun, thank you for enlightening me.

Post your predictions for 2017
You thought 2016 was batshit crazy with its slew of politically themed releases, wait till 2017. That's where the dam's gonna finally break from the overflow. Chances are, like most of 2016's political releases, 2017 will also have a lot of musically mediocre stuff that people will call important because of muh political themes. It's like Vietnam War era all over again with its slew of anti-war protest musicians whose relevancy just went up and disappeared once the war was over.
The new Bjork album is gonna be fucking lit.
St. Vincent's new album with be AOTY
Does anyone here listen to Cat Power? I never see her talked about but I'm falling in love with her style and have been listening to Moon Pix over and over
Yeah she's good.
You Are Free is a masterpiece.
I really like What Would the Community Think, but I haven't listened to any of her other stuff.. I'll check out Moon Pix.
has any genre aged as well as trip hop?
Genres don't age, they evolve.
Screenshot my brilliance.
Anon's right, music doesn't age
Also, I rarely really *enjoy* trip-hop besides Maxinquaye. Maybe I'm just not moody enough for it.
classical and any anti-vietnam war rock
I unironically like Deadmau5
He's not bad
sad.
>>69831160
He's not at all. I could see why people don't like him though.
