Second best song dumbass
Literally the best fuck jam of all time
Discuss slowcore. Please post about artists that aren't as talked about here (i.e. not Codeine, Duster, Red House Painters, etc) to increase exposure.
Bedhead's got three albums worth of slowcore gold, and they arguably got better with each album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmgZS9z4WJw
Just getting into slowcore after falling in love with Stratosphere. Currently spinning Bedhead - WFLW and Codeine - TWB.
Any recs/charts friends?

>Duster
Listen to the 1975 EP and Contemporary Movement. Helvetia's first three albums sound the most like Duster.
>Bedhead
The New Year. It's basically a continuation of (and IMO even better than) Bedhead, especially considering it features the Kadane brothers from Bedhead.
>Codeine
Not much sounds like Codeine, but Low claimed to be heavily influenced by them on their early albums.

Low made a pretty amazing and experimental career in slowcore.
what makes aphex twin a pioneer and influential to so many artists? the only thing i "hear" different from many idm artists is that he has a good ear for melodies.
selected works ii is ambient meets techno - its in the genre name. some good standouts obviously, xtal, music makers, but i dont hear anything pioneering in this album.
saw 2 is so bloated. also all the beat oriented tracks are garbage. brian eno is the ambient pioneer and he did it better in half the running time on vol 4.
i care because you do. dont see much praise for this besides alberto and acrid. transitional album. nothing pioneering.
RDJ. yes this album has good melodies and his "signature" drumming, but people credit afx for this programming? squarepusher did it before and much better. not even a fan of his.
drukqs - bloated and inconsistent. it does have many complex arrangements but we are in the 2000s now. nothing groundbreaking or new.
people from thom yorke to rym kids praise him to death. im not knocking afx, i like him. i just dont see how hes a pioneer.
Aphex twin fucking sucks sooooooooo overrated. listen to BoC instead.
he is pioneer ur stupid rofl
>knocks his whole career
>hurr I'm not knocking it I like him lol
Fuck off OP
Fav instrument? Mine is definitely the bassoon.
>>71531035
bassoons remind me of ducks :)
Either accordion or trombone or violin. I really can't pick one over the other.
contrabass clarinet, i wish i could afford one and learn to play it
Hey /mu/ it's your friendly neighborhood degenerate here. Didn't see a chart for this in the sticky so I took the liberty of making one myself
Albums were chosen based on a combination of cultural associations with the substances as well as personal experience listening to music on different drugs.
Thoughts?
Also general drug music thread.
>MDMA
>no psytrance
>heroin
>no tvun
good chart. nice to see /del/ getting some love.
It might be good to add a happy pop album or two to the /dis/ part, like Get to Heaven, shit's overwhelmingly euphoric on dissos

Fuck you /mu/ this is amazing
>>71530707
you're free to think that but i think it sucks
>>71530707
I know, but /mu/ will NEVER give it the credit it deserves. The criticisms are always the same: "Too repetitive", "Sounds too much like The Beatles", "A lot of people like them", etc. It's pathetic, really.
>dude beatles lmao: the album
>there are """people""" on 4chan who don't have enough of an attention span to listen to an album all the way through
>album is a one long song
>there are people on 4chan

Thanks a lot, this is a great starting point for anyone curious about the scene
Amazing band

It's amazing how underrated they are on /mu/. They have so many great albums but the only ones I ever see being discussed are Disintegration and Pornography
The best

Sister Morphine is the only song I skip when I listen to that one.
What is the local music scene like in your town/city?
Growing up in Chicago, we had tons of concerts like these (link below). All the local people would show up and have fun. Now we have next to nothing, or it's just a bunch of fucking creep weirdo EDM types.

Town in Sweden called Gävle. Big metal town tons of bands around.

Not the best in town but I know one of the guitarist who joined a while back after this video was made.
>>71529535
We have local acts like this in Chicago, and some of them are actually really good. Not many people show up though, and people kinda just look at them like they are sad and pathetic.
>>71529415
That looks fucking awesome btw. Literally dream about playing gigs like these guys do in thier music video.
Does anyone else listen to an album once and don't really like it but listen to it again and love it? Pic related
definitely took me a few listens to fully appreciate this
Glad I listened to this again.
When this clicked, it clicked HARD
