I've thoroughly listened through Manson's discography many times, and with careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion that Portait of American Family is his greatest album. Every song on it is just so good, even My Monkey, which I've come to enjoy a lot overtime.
>>71539825
Cake and Sodomy is pretty good. Everything else ranges from okay to awful. Manson just sucks in general. The only reason that album isn't complete garbage is because Trent Reznor had his hands in it. I'm actually kind of convinced that Reznor wrote the entire album and Manson as a performer was just sort of a concept he came up with.
>>71539934
Name one bad song on the album
Also, it was really Manson's other band members that made his early albums great, as they started leaving or got kicked out, he slowly declined in quality and then you ended up with Golden Age of Grotesque and those after it where it was mainly just him writing the songs except he can only really write pop songs so they just sounded like try hard top 40 "metal" hits. His voice and occasionally his poetry are his only talents, hence why this was his best album, because back then it was Marilyn Manson and The Spooky Kids when they had more control in the songs and ideas.

Faust, an album by Faust
Steely Dan is great, but there's no need for the whole "mature developed tastes for enlightened intelligentsia such as myself" schtick
>mature individuals of developed tastes
The poem/monologue at the end of Faith, Torn Apart is probably the most a Xiu Xiu track has ever affected me emotionally, especially with its context in mind. It had me covering my mouth throughout the entire thing and kind of left me a bit torn up after it was over. This album is an instant classic to me.
