Let's settle this: Do you like them or not?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQbf9oyyGjc
Kinda a hit and miss band. When they hit, they hit hard.
>>71673387
they make decent pop music and wouldn't mind if they dominated top 40
hell no
you will never catch me listening to TI. the kind of band I expect women to like
I'm sorry, the lyrics are probably great and profound but when i listen to music i want to listen to..... music.
Absolutely nothing happens in these songs, just a guitar and boring melodies.
It's a shame because The Glow Pt. 2 is one of my favorite album of all times.
omg my review is on 4chan
>>71673315
>not listening to music for lyrics
kys
this is AOTY
>>71673315
ya his progression into spoken word and sun kil moon doing the same sucks.
it's good writing but their music was a lot better when they did interesting stuff with instruments also
Was Kanye West inspired by Death Grips (and other alt-hiphop of the time) on Yeezus?
I'm not trying to argue he "ripped them off", or even that the whole album has similarities, but I find it hard to believe its merely a coincidence Kanye made such sonic choices without at least hearing / being inspired by Death Grips. With the buzz that DG had at the time, its not unlikely that Kanye heard them.
Do the synths in "On Sight" honestly not bring to mind sounds DG used on the outro to "Blood Creepin" or even more-so on "Come up and get me"? Not only that, but the quick-cuts in sampling on "New Slaves" and especially "Bound 2" really remind me of what DG did in "Double Helix" in the 2nd half of the song.
Im open-minded and I'm interested to hear your arguments as to why or why not you think there was some kind of influence going on. I know its a bit of an old topic but I've never seen anyone really give a well thought-out opinion as to what they think on the topic.
>>71673308
hardly
arca and eviant christ were making more abstract shit at the same time with dg's releases
has he heard about dg? most likely yeah of course. but /mu/ likes to get amnesia when you take a look at the producer credits on this album.
The only thing on Yeezus that sounds remotely Death Grips inspired is On Sight, which sounds a little like Come Up and Get me. Any Death Grips album is far more chaotic and busy than Yeezus. Kanye recruited some underground producers for Yeezus, like Arca, Gesaffelstein and that guy from Salem.
Pitchfork did an interview with some engineers and producers that worked on Yeezus around the time of its release and asked if they listened to Death Grips during its recording. They said that they were aware of the band at the time but didn't listen to them.
I honestly can't see Kanye hiding the fact that he was inspired by Death Grips. He's open and honest when it comes to inspiration, he said that he listened to a lot of Portishead during the Yeezus sessions.

>On Sight

I met Jimmy Bower when I was 8, he seemed like a nice guy
>>71673328
that's awesome, how'd you meet him?
he comes off as a chill dude in interviews
>>71673337
He was buying an amp from my Dad. I think he was touring with superjoint ritual in the area and saw an ad for it.
Redpill me on this dudes. Is it XTC's masterpiece, a Sgt. Pepper/Pet Sounds knock off, or both?
>>71673268
More Pet Sounds than Sgt Pepper but it's better than Pet Sounds regardless
>>71673275
This but it is not better than Pet Sounds
This album's just as good.
Have you ever cried at a concert?
I saw Sufjan with my father. I cried when he played For the Widows in Paradise.

Hi Anons,
Was wondering if you can help a /b/ro out.
Need a list (In ranking order) of Jazz albums from:
1. Jazz albums normies would love
2. Jazz albums that people who think they like Jazz love
3. Actual Jazz albums which are jazz tier jazz
I want to know because I am rank 2 and I want to introduce a friend.
>Inb4 Kind of Blue, Blue train, AhUm! is number one
>Inb4 On the Corner is level 3
1.) Dave Brubeck - Time Out
Anything by Sinatra or Stan Getz
2.) John Coltrane - A Love Supreme
3.) Bill Evans - Explorations
Wayne Shorter - Speak No Evil
Tier 2: Time Out, The Epic
>>71672851
This whole concept is fucking dumb..
>>71672897
Love Supreme is clearly better than those two albums which you say are "real jazz" popular doesnt equal bad as much as you people wish it did.
Anyway for category 1 youre gonna want stuff from the second half of the 50's. its when jazz was pretty much in its modern state but before the rise of free/avant garde
why didnt eunb and rise get a sticky
>>71672798
dont even know what group this is
