I know this isn't /mu/ music and I hate to be the guy to bring up normie shit, but I'm fascinated by her career at the moment. What is she going for? Shes being very pretentious about her music, calling it "pop with a purpose" and such yet the lyrics to every single after Chained To The Rhythm (which bombed) hasn' not fit that description in the slightest. She said she didn't want to be "rolling around in cotton candy anymore" yet her latest video is in the exact same vein. Did "woke" Katy's Chained To The Rhythm flop so bad they wanted to return to what worked?
Shes also way late to stealing black culture, which Miley already did and has since comeback from.
Not to mention she is under a lot of fire for using the N word and just being problematic in general.
Also the feud with Taylor Swift. That had TayTay send in Selena Gomez to steal her man.
PLUS she once said she would only cut her hair if she had a breakdown like Britney did.
Is a breakdown imminent?
she flipped the fuck out on election night when Trump won and has remained in tantrum mode ever since, but she's like the biggest pop star of the decade so of course she's caught in a creative cul-de-sac, the label wouldn't have it any other way but safe
pop star fatigue

she's 30 and was only popular for looking like the hot girl next door, the zooey deschanel archetype. she either has to try to reinvent herself or it's over.
What's his best album?
The Good Son

He fucked PJ Harvey. I dont listen to his music for that reason.
I'm torn between the good son and murder ballads but I still have a few more albums to listen to
This album is objectively the best electronic dance album of all time.

Can anybody rec me some noise rock that's totally uncompromising in the "noise" department? I guess what I mean is "noise" in the industrial sense, and interpret that however you see fit I suppose. I'm interested in exploring noise rock in theory cause I've been into noise and industrial (and subgenres) for a long time but Sonic Youth and the like seem utterly uninteresting to me as they seem to make serious compromises in the noise department. So far I enjoy Big Black and related Albini projects (been in love with them for a few years now), Butthole Surfers, Brainbombs, Swans, Bodychoke, and Fushitsusha.
I dont know if this is what you're talking about, but Lightning Bolt are pretty great. They aren't really industrial but their music is based around noisy riffs that NEVER let up, so I guess in that sense they are "uncompromising."
Idk I'm also just sharing them because I fucking love them.

I guess what I meant is that what I've listened to from Sonic Youth they seem to make significant compromises between noise and melody. I'm more interested in aggression, dissonance, and noise than I am in melody or accessibility. But I'll definitely listen to them, much appreciated.

I don't understand how people on this place will shit on you for liking music that is popular on this exact board. That makes zero sense to me
Like I understand being ironic and I don't take criticism of anyone's music taste seriously, but what is the point of that?
(Also, I'm not a particular fan of pic related or have any negative experiences in discussion with it, it's an observation that happens all the time)

Could hair metal come back if it were updated sound wise and combined big hair with modern fashion.
Im thinking a more erotic deftones type vibe plus maybe some post metal but dressed like Mötley Crüe and a bit more pop.
Is this the recipe for creating a monster?

>Could hair metal come back if it were updated sound wise and combined big hair with modern fashion.
Fortunately not.
Some bands (like Black Veil Brides) tried that, they did not bring it back, they simply carved out a niche for themselves.
Cause here's the thing: if you "update" glam metal, it's no longer glam metal. Black Veil Brides is post-hardcore with a few glam metal elements.
And as a result it's shit.
It's like with every trend: if you try to bring it back by "updating it", you just fuck it up and it no longer feels like the original thing.
